Anne Frank

From Mental_Floss, here are some facts about Anne Frank's diary.

Gettysburg

On this 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, I am reading this book.  It's very good, but nothing compares to "Stars in Their Courses".

Here are some photos from the 50th anniversary of the battle.

Richard Matheson

Here's a nice tribute to writer Richard Matheson. In addition to the great stories listed, his story "Duel" was turned into a very well-done and very sinister film starring Dennis Weaver.  As Daniel J. Flynn says, "The reality and talent shows that dominate television streamlined the present generation’s Richard Mathesons out of work. In their place, we get Snooki, Chumley, and Honey Boo-Boo. And even scripted television degrades the writer by relying on big stars or big budgets to win audiences. The best television, the television in which Matheson’s name would periodically appear in the credits, relied on neither. The narrative captivated."

Obamaganda

The Obama administration sounds increasingly desperate in their attempts to indoctrinate the public about Obamacare: "This week we've learned that everyone from NFL and NBA players, to Hollywood stars, to school children are being eyed by the Obama administration to help them promote the new health care law as it starts to take effect. Now, AP reports that up to 17,000 libraries will be part of a program to learn about ObamaCare and educate the public on how to sign up for insurance plans." Maybe they should give away Obamaphones with every application.

Unwanted Advice

Read this open letter to all 18 year olds about the state of our society. Not only do voting-age teenagers not care about what's going on, but adults who've been voting for decades don't even care.

Makes Perfect Sense!

So, leaker General Cartwright is considered a hero by Obama, but Edward Snowden is considered a traitor?

Lots 'o Links

Check out the latest items at Maggie's Farm, Larwyn's Linx, and Betsy's Page.  As a bonus, read Larry Elder's column titled "If Paula Deen is Out, Please Explain Maher and Sharpton."

The Moral Declines Continues

Last night I saw this story about Wendy Davis and the fight against abortion restrictions in Texas.  And of course there's the celebration over gay "marriage", which is forced down your throat by the media. Every day the over-the-top liberal agenda in this country continues to amaze and appall me.   How will we ever get America back on track again, even with a Republican president in 2016?

Argus Hamilton Quips

I like this zinger from Argus Hamilton's latest column:  "Nancy Pelosi was booed in San Francisco Tuesday when she denounced Ed Snowden for exposing NSA spy programs. She misread her own city's liberalism. San Francisco is the only city in the world that would hold a nude protest march demanding online privacy."

More Hot Air

Can anyone explain to me how the Nobel Peace Prize winner managed to give his ridiculous global warming speech with a straight face?

The Great Destructor

Paul Ryan says the Obama Administration is more incompetent by the day.  I second that emotion!

Warnings for Idiots

Want a laugh? Check out the Wacky Warning Labels™ Contest finalists.  Thanks to the increase in moronic people and the decrease in common sense, warnings such as "not for human consumption" on a package of rubber fishing worms are unfortunately necessary.

Media Vultures

I've been really disgusted at the way the media has been reacting to the shocking death of James Gandolfini. Instead of focusing on his acting career and his humanity, too many talking heads have been discussing his eating habits, his drinking habits, and his weight, while lecturing the rest of us on how to live.  How about more respect for the dead, and less speculating and ratings-grabbing?

Lots 'o Links

More good reading over at Larwyn's Linx, at Betsy's Page, and at Maggie's Farm.

Indoctrination University

I saw this story at Instapundit: "A Tennessee community college professor ordered her students to wear ribbons supporting gay rights and said those who believed in the traditional definition of marriage are just 'uneducated bigots' who 'attack homosexuals with hate,' according to a legal firm representing several of the students in the class."

Explosion Revisited

The idea of a documentary about TWA Flight 800 is very disturbing. I always suspected terrorism, but if people had proof of it at that time, shouldn't they have gone to the media or to the government? Making a film 20 years after the fact just doesn't sit well with me.
I remember that disaster as if it happened yesterday, due in part to the stunned silence of a co-worker whose daughter had arrived from overseas on that very jet the night before. All he could think of was that it could have been her.

Name Calling

This is an amusing column about the decline of manners.

Be On The Lookout For...A Suspect!

Unbelievable! From the New York Post:  "Cops might as well wear blindfolds if the City Council passes a bill that would let them use little more than the color of a suspect’s clothing in descriptions — or risk being sued for profiling."  I'm sure criminals and terrorists must be having the last laugh at yet another ridiculous example of self-destructive political correctness.

The Latest Scandal

Read this Jed Babbin column on Obama's foreign policy. He starts off, "The Obama administration has reached the unenviable stage in which it’s almost impossible to determine where one scandal ends and another begins. The most recent case in point is President Obama’s decision to kinda sorta intervene in the Syrian civil war that is now in its third year...Some on the right are saying that Obama is wagging the dog, creating a phony military conflict to take the media’s attention off the scandals in which his administration is awash. But that’s not what he’s doing. It’s much worse than that... This is foreign policy by farce. What the Times — the most faithful chronicler of liberalism — describes is the most desultory, most pointless and least compelling case for a war in American history."

Yet Another Nazi

Stories like this always make me ill: "Minnesota Nazi: How did Nazi hunters miss Michael Karkoc?" As soon as I heard about this, I guessed he would be living happily in his 90s, and I was right.  How can we ever hope to secure our borders and protect us from terrorists when you can't even catch Nazis living in, and living off, our country?

David Limbaugh describes Obama's America. We should be grateful presidents can no longer run for a third term.

Hooray for Hitler

Here's a depressing article about "Hollywood's Creepy Love Affair" with Adolf Hitler.  It's more disgraceful when you know that most of the studio heads were Jewish.

Tebowmania, Boston Style

I was happy to hear the news about Tim Tebow and will be rooting for the Patriots.  The Jets are going to look awfully silly this season!

Snowdengate

This whole Edward Snowden story is so unbelievable I almost feel as if it's all a hoax! I haven't read much about him, but I sure hope he doesn't turn out to be a Republican. If he is, look for the Obama administration to start their usual smear campaign.

Typical Democrats

I  just love the way the Democrats and the Obama apologists are explaining away all the scandals. It's either Bush's fault, or it's the Republicans' fault. A Democratic strategist on Judge Jeanine's show tonight actually said the Republicans are obsessed with the scandals, and they are using them to distract Obama from focusing on jobs. Talk about chutzpah! I wanted to throw a shoe at the TV.  America has decayed so badly -  our allies must be cringing, and our enemies are celebrating.

Wait A Minute Mister Postman

Remember when people used to fight with one another simply by using words or their fists? Now they just send ricin letters!

Credibility Gap

Were you at all surprised by this story about how the New York Times criticized Obama -- and then amended the criticism?  It's not only Obama who has "lost all credibility", it's also the media!

D-Day: June 6, 1944

Here are some wonderful D-Day photos.  The Daily Mail would be a sensationalist rag if they didn't redeem themselves with photos like this.  Also, if you've never heard it, read FDR's D-Day prayer.  On his radio show today, Bill Bennett marveled at this speech compared to today's wishy-washy politically correct nonsense.

Lots 'o Links

Remember Spygate, when the Patriots videotaped the Jets' signals? Under Obama, we now have have Spygate 2, the tracking of all Verizon calls by the NSA.  When even Al Gore calls it "obscenely outrageous", you know it must be bad. You can read more about this and other Obama scandals at Betsy's Page, Maggie's Farm, and Larwyn's Linx.

Hall of Shame

I'm so glad I was a baseball fan in the 60s and 70s, before cheating with steroids became so commonplace and so depressingly acceptable.

Contempt for America

Obama's introduction of Susan Rice today as his National Security Advisor showed his contempt for this country and was a slap in the face to us all. After everything she has said and done, are you actually going to trust her with our security? It's disgraceful that she will follow in the footsteps of people like Henry Kissinger and Condoleezza Rice.

You'll feel a bit better once you listen to Rep. Jim Bridenstine's
excoriation of Obama.

What Difference Does It Make?

It makes a great difference, but apparently only to conservatives and anyone who doesn't think Obama is the Messiah.  If it weren't for Fox News and the great bloggers, you'd never even know what was happening in this government! Here's more on the IRS scandals. They seem to get more outrageous by the day.

Next Obama Book?

Here's an amusing list of potential titles for Obama's next book. A few of the ideas include "Crouching Audit, Hidden Wiretap"; "The Hunger Games: Food Stamp Edition"; "What to Expect When You're Expecting Handouts"; and "Blame Your Predecessor: How Avoid Accountability When Things Go Wrong," and "Obama Shrugged."   (via Larwyn's Linx)

Barack H. Nixon

American Digest has a good Nixon-Obama comparison.

Holocaust Help

"Following negotiations with the Claims Conference in Israel recently, the German government committed to expand its funding of home care for infirm Holocaust survivors.  Germany has agreed to pay $800 million in new funding for home care for survivors from 2014 to 2017, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency reported. This is in addition to $812 million which was already committed for 2014."  But no matter what the Germans do, it will never be enough, and it's decades too late.
