Not Your Grandfather's Democrats

That Joy Reid, whoever she is, summed up what the Democratic party has become with her infamous tweet: "Church ... family ... police ... military ... the national anthem ... Trump trying to call on all the tropes of 1950s-era nationalism. The goal of this speech appears to be to force the normalization of Trump on the terms of the bygone era his supporters are nostalgic for."

Yeah, well, it's better than the liberal normalization of things like transgender children, marijuana, and abortions, that you hear about constantly. I'll take the 1950s any day, thank you.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day Links

It's the same thing every year, and every day: "World remembers Holocaust amid signs of rising hatred."

"'We Weren't Prepared for This.' Inside the Accidental Liberation of a Concentration Camp."

This is very touching:  "Soon There Will Be No More Survivors. Watch this presentation: We say people must remember the Holocaust in the future, but we’re ignoring its victims today."

And when there are no survivors, will anyone even care about the Holocaust any more?

John Kerry & The Palestinians

Oh no, he's back!  You have to read this Jerusalem Post article about John Kerry and the Palestinians.  "During the conversation, according to the report, Kerry asked Agha to convey a message to Abbas and ask him to 'hold on and be strong.'  'Tell him,'  he told Agha, 'that he should stay strong in his spirit and play for time, that he will not break and will not yield to President {Donald} Trump's demands.'  According to Kerry, Trump will not remain in office for a long time.  It was reported that Kerry said that within a year there was a good chance that Trump would not be in the White House."

The implication is that Kerry himself will be in the White House and will be pro-Palestinian, unlike Trump.  Let's hope that such a thing never occurs.

Serial E-Mailers & Text Messagers

Peter Strzok and Lisa Page: are they still working in our government? Why haven't they had the decency to resign over the 5 months worth of "missing" text messages that the FBI somehow can't find? And what is it with people like these two, Hillary Clinton, Anthony Weiner, Lois Lerner and others compulsively e-mailing and sending text messages so casually? I can't imagine non-government employees getting away with that sort of thing at work. Also, is exchanging 50,000 text messages in a matter of 5 months considered a normal figure? When exactly did they find the time to do their jobs?

Schumer Slapdown

In his column today, Daniel Greenfield asks the questions I've been asking, and he also answers them:  "Why do illegal aliens come first for Schumer and Kimmel? Why do they come ahead of soldiers and poor kids? Because it’s all about rigging future elections by using illegal aliens to change state demographics.
The Schumer Shutdown is the big Dem bet on a future national majority manufactured through open borders. The Dems are even willing to throw away the midterm elections to get DACA set. They’re gambling that even if the voters turn on them over putting illegal aliens ahead of soldiers and poor kids, it’s worth taking the risk now if they can get an illegal alien amnesty that ends the two-party system.
The Schumer Shutdown trades the benefits of inner city constituents for the illegal alien votes that the Dems hope to gain once amnesty and everything that comes with it kick in. The Democrats are showing African-American voters that they’re worth less to them than future illegal alien voters.
They’re sending the same message to the legal Latino immigrants who vote for them.
The Dems aren’t satisfied with the voters they have. They want the voters that they’re not allowed to have by law. And they’re holding the country hostage until the White House and the Senate majority elected by the voters agree to break the law and destroy the country.
Democrats don’t care about illegal aliens out of the goodness of their crooked hearts. If the average illegal alien crossing the border were Republican, the wall would be up yesterday. And it would be topped with heavy artillery and surrounded by a moat filled with piranhas and crocodiles. Drones would fire Hellfire missiles at anyone even looking at it the wrong way because he might be a Republican.
That’s the shameful, disgusting truth."

And unfortunately we have to go through this disgraceful spectacle again in February, so the Republicans had better get prepared to fight for the citizens they represent.

Contemptible

How can you have anything but contempt for a Democratic party that seems to think that what non-citizens want is worth shutting down our government for?

Jobs and Apple

Wow! I guess the Democrats consider this mere "crumbs" as well:

"Apple announces plans to repatriate billions in overseas cash, says it will contribute $350 billion to the US economy over the next 5 years.
Apple says the new tax law will help it contribute $350 billion to the U.S. economy over the next five years.
It says it will create 20,000 new jobs and open a new campus.
Apple expects to pay about $38 billion in taxes for the horde of cash it plans to bring back to the United States."

It's been a busy week for news, and what better places to read all about it than at Betsy's Page, Larwyn's Linx, and Maggie's Farm?

Bonus: Yesterday I saw the moving Congressional Gold Medal ceremony for Bob Dole.  I remember him as he was, powerful, with that booming deep voice.

Here's Daniel Greeenfield on the media:  "President Trump needs the media to hate him. And the media needs him to hate. Trump benefits politically from that relationship, but the media only benefits financially from it. The media’s Trump rage ended Hillary’s career, put a Republican in the White House, pulled us out of the Paris Climate Accords, brought in the Muslim travel ban, recognized Jerusalem and did all the other things the media wails about every second of the day. And the media helped make them happen."

Argus Hamilton Quips

I had a laugh when I saw this item in Argus Hamilton's latest column: "The Honolulu Advertiser reported that in the panic following Hawaii's emergency attack alert Saturday one man tried to protect his little girl by shoving her into a sewer drain. You can't make it up. She was placed in a sewer drain, the only S-hole that can't sue Trump for defamation this week."

Here are this week's best posts from around the country thanks to Maggie's Farm, Larwyn's Linx, and Betsy's Page!

Bonus: here's the latest example of whining women:  "I’m a fraud. That’s a sentiment some of the most accomplished among us — including Tina Fey and Meryl Streep — have felt. It’s called 'imposter syndrome,' a feeling that you don’t really deserve your success because you achieved it thanks to luck or some other thing out of your control, rather than your skills and hard work, and a fear you might be 'found out.' And as Melinda Gates wrote on LinkedIn earlier this week — and research backs up — it’s a syndrome common among women."  Why don't you go see a psychiatrist instead of putting on the mantle of victimhood -- yet again?

From the "Not My Fault" Department

From Investor's Business Daily: "Paternalism: Apple is now coming under fire from two big investors for not doing enough to curb childhood addiction to smartphones. What's next? Government warnings and a class-action lawsuit against Big Smartphone?"

As usual, it's never your own behavior, it's grounds for a lawsuit. Parents, stop buying expensive smartphones for your kids. Kids (and adults), please get off the phone and do something constructive for a change. You have an off button -- use it.

Oprah? Nope-rah!

The media has been in a frenzy this week touting the annoying Oprah Winfrey as not only the second coming but also as the next President.  No thanks!  She'd be a combination of a female Obama and a black Hillary, and that's just too much for me. Don't the Democrats have any real candidates left?

Lots 'o Icy Links

Brrr, it's cold -- but you'll get warmed up quickly if you read the great posts at Betsy's Page, Maggie's Farm, and Larwyn's Linx!

Bonus: I was glad to see this news. "Attorney General Jeff Sessions has rescinded an Obama-era policy that paved the way for legalized marijuana to flourish in states across the country, creating new confusion about enforcement and use just three days after a new legalization law went into effect in California."   Good! Why should any drugs be allowed to flourish? And why is marijuana constantly being pushed in the media as being great for the economy? Surely we have real industries and businesses here that are good for the economy without encouraging drug use.
