"President Bush 'assassinated' in new TV docudrama"

What is WRONG with these people?

The head of the British network airing this film said, "It's not sensationalist, or simplistic but a very thought-provoking, powerful drama. I hope people will see that the intention behind it is good."

Right.

This is like the "Hitler's Cross" restaurant story! I'm sure these people aren't quite so disingenuous as they try to make themselves appear.

Hit and Run

The hit and run rampage in San Francisco was virtually ignored by the media here.
The driver deliberately ran people down, including two in front of the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco. Sound familiar?

The excuses have begun. Officer.com reports that some family members said Popal had mental problems and lived in fear of the devil; others said his recent arranged marriage may have made him stressed.

Yes, of course! That makes perfect sense!

The Anchoress expresses what many are feeling today:

"This is becoming an appalling habit in the press and by politicians. An Islamic fundamentalist shoots Jews in a Synagogue, and it’s some sort of random incident. An Islamic fundamentalist uses his SUVto kill people partly in front of a Synagogue, and in what would appear to be a somewhat “Jewish neighborhood” and the press takes a hours to cover the story (probably looking for the appropriate “frame,”) and until someone in authority can be found to sing out, “ROAD RAGE”! Yeah, that’s the ticket! Road rage! Mayor Newsom sees no problem, here…a “relatively young” person, obviously confused! Yes, that’s the ticket! What the hell is wrong with the press, what the hell is wrong with the leadership? Why are they so incapable of calling anti-semitism what it is, of calling a terrorist action what it is?"

Resign!

If she has any decency at all, Boulder D.A. Mary Lacy ought to resign over this John Karr fiasco.

He may be a creep, a pervert, and a child molester, but his DNA didn't match that of the killer of Jon Benet Ramsay.

They ought to ship him back to Thailand the cheapest way; send him an invoice for his business class accommodations that we taxpayers financed; and stop filling the airwaves with his story. (You can bet he will be on Larry King any day now)

The media has had a black eye for years. Now they look even worse -- and so does the District Attorney's office.

Let the excuses begin.

"Eye on the U.N."

Anne Bayefsky was on Glenn Beck's TV program last night, and she spoke about the scandal that is the United Nations.

She said bluntly that the U.N. is "the political arm of Hezbollah". I can't agree more.

The Lunatic Speaks

I saw this on Lucianne.com today.

We Jews must be doing something right if the only thing these so-called leaders have to do with their time is obsess about Jews and Israel.

Ahmadinejad Claims Holocaust Invented to Embarass Germany
Deutsche Welle, by Staff

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has told German Chancellor Angela Merkel that the Holocaust may have been invented by the victorious Allied powers in World War II to embarrass Germany. The remarks by the outspoken Iranian president, who has repeatedly questioned the veracity of the Holocaust, came in a letter sent to Merkel in July whose contents have not been disclosed until now.

Our Fox News Hostages Freed

The following is by Cliff May at National Review's The Corner via
Instapundit. I agree with the last 2 paragraphs and hope that the continued savagery of the terrorists isn't overlooked just because Centanni and Wiig were released.

http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=YTcyMzYyNWY4MjYyM2NkYTQ4Njc5NTE0NzVjNTk1YmU=

FOX JOURNALISTS RELEASED
And that’s great news. But the Reuters story up on Drudge right now (it may not be up for long) says that Steve Centanni and Olaf Wiig “appeared on a new videotape” and said “they had converted to Islam.”

“They were shown separately sitting cross-legged, reading a statement which Fox said was an announcement that they had converted to Islam. At times in the video they were wearing long Muslim robes. … Wiig called on leaders of the West to stop ‘hiding behind the ‘I don't negotiate with terrorists' myth’. He then read some words in Arabic.”

I just watched the reporters give a news conferences in which I didn’t hear them discuss this (maybe I missed that part or perhaps they did talk about it but it wasn’t included on-air). Instead, they emphasized how important it is that journalists not be discouraged from covering Gaza from “telling the story of the Palestinian people.” Is the mission of Fox’s London bureau to tell the story of the British people?” Do reporters cover the White House in order to tell President Bush’s story?

I’m glad these guys are safe and free. I wish them well. But I hope there will be some attention paid by Fox and other media to the way in which kidnappings and similar threats coerce and intimidate journalists, and may influence their coverage.

Sue Nation

Here are two more examples of people's total lack of personal responsibility, their greed, and their disregard for consequences.

First, this story about technology "addictions" at work

Professor: BlackBerry Addiction Lawsuits Likely in Future
TORONTO — Keeping employees on electronic leashes such as laptops, BlackBerries and other devices that keep them constantly connected to the office could soon lead to lawsuits by those who grow addicted to the technology, a U.S. academic warns.
In a follow-up to an earlier paper on employees' tech addictions, Gayle Porter, associate professor of management at the Rutgers University School of Business in Camden, N.J., has written a paper that states workers whose personal lives suffer as a result of tech addictions could turn their sights on their employers.
"These people that can't keep it within any reasonable parameters and have these problems in their lives at some point may say: 'My life is not all that great. How did this happen? Who can I blame for this?'," Porter, who co-authored the study with two other academics, said in an interview on Thursday. "And they're going to say, 'The company'."

Of COURSE the company! It can't possibly be your own fault, can it?

Here's the second story, about the New York lottery

L.I. LO-LOTTO MA RIPS STATE
August 26, 2006 -- ,The mother of the Long Island woman who blew $2.3 million in stolen cash on lottery tickets blasted the state yesterday - for "preying" on addicts. "Lotto is the biggest lie out there," seethed Paula Montana, 58. "They've got these catchy ads to draw you in, but there's no dream. There's just pain."
Bookkeeper Annie Donnelly, 38, pleaded guilty Wednesday to swiping $2,323,919 from her employer, Great South Bay Surgical medical group, and at times spending more than $6,000 a day on tickets. "[She] has a sickness . . . and the Lotto was preying on her" she said.

Don't you love these people? You embezzle millions from your employer, and YOU are the victim! You steal, but you have a 'disease', and it's all New York's fault!

Where are the Kidnapped Soldiers?

Just a reminder: their names are Gilad Shalit, Eldad Regev, and Ehud Goldwasser. The silence is alarming.

While we're on the subject, where are the U.N. peacekeepers? And how can you be called "peacekeepers" when you won't even be taking the weapons away from Hezbollah?

September 11 Redux

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/business/1700AP_Attacks_CNN.html
CNN.com to replay 9/11 attacks coverage

Says Lucianne.com in "must reads of the day",
"Should have been doing this once a week for the last 5 years".

I agree. Evidently, some people still need reminding. I get angry when I hear the criticism of the New York Police Department and the New York Fire Department. The attacks of 9/11 were unprecedented. Rather than talk about what the NYPD and NYFD didn't do, and what didn't work, why not talk about what they did do, and what did work, and how heroic they were, and how many lives they saved?

More on Hitler's Restaurant

Betsy's Page has commented on the fact that India's "Hitler's Cross" restaurant is changing its name. Betsy says:

"The owner says he didn't realize that some people would be so offended by his calling his restaurant "Hitler's Cross" and so he'll give it a new name.

What's next? Stalin's Sandwich Shop? Darfur Dainties? Milosevic's Mellow Dining? Bin Laden's Beanery? What do you name a restaurant after you have named it after Hitler?"

"An Emotional Toll"

Isn't this nauseating?

"Study: Muslims, Arabs saw pay drop after 9/11 Chicago Sun-Times
by Rummana Hussain
Suspicious stares. Physical assaults. Thinner wallets? Post-9/11 anti-Islamic and anti-Middle Eastern sentiment hasn't just taken an emotional toll on Muslim and Arab men living in the United States. It has also put a dent in their checkbooks, a study indicates."

Gee, what an awful shame.

How about the emotional toll that the attacks of September 11 had on the survivors, and on the loved ones of the innocent, hard-working people who were murdered that day?

And how about the dent in the checkbooks of the families left behind without the financial support of their spouses?

These men will have to look elsewhere for sympathy.

Be My Guest

To nobody's surprise, it turns out that Steve Centanni and Olaf Wiig have been kidnapped by Palestinians. On the TV news just now, the reporter stated that in the Middle East, being treated as a guest is a great honor.

This was a crime, not a social invitation. Since when is a kidnap victim now considered merely a guest?

Still Missing

Click here for Michelle Malkin's Blogburst on behalf of the kidnapped Steve Centanni and Olaf Wiig.

She writes, "please join me in posting a blog post today (doesn't need to be long, even a quick "Still Missing" will do) in support of our fellow American, Steve Centanni, and New Zealand-based cameraman Olaf Wiig. Let their families know that they are not forgotten."

Maybe if they were blonde women, their kidnapping would have gotten more attention.

Photoshopping Fatima

You'll recall that Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs exposed what he calls the Reuters "fauxtography scandal", where Reuters showed doctored photos of the destruction in Lebanon in order to make Israel look worse. The same woman appeared over and over in some of their pictures.

Since then, some talented bloggers have had a field day creating their own Fatima Photos on the order of "Where's Waldo?"
Check out Kesher Talk who says that "Flat Fatima™ is becoming the Zelig of her ethnic group", appearing in famous scenes throughout history.

But I'm sure that not even Reuters can produce creative and clever photos like those shown at The People's Cube These are just hilarious, and I'm sure the bloggers are already producing new pictures as we speak. (If I were a Photoshopper, I'd love to show Fatima at Kent State; and Fatima as Monica Lewinsky in the crowd shaking hands with Bill Clinton!)

Any other ideas?

Haveil Havalim #83 is Up!

It's time once again for Haveil Havalim, the roundup of the best Jewish posts from around the web.

A Barbaric Yawp is the host of Haveil Havalim #83

The creator of Haveil Havalim is Soccer Dad, whose blog you can visit here

If you've never seen this terrific blog carnival before, I promise you'll be hooked!

"Eat At Adolf's"

Little Green Footballs has one of the best captions of the day. A new restaurant has opened in India with the appetizing name of "Hitler's Cross". The owner's lame excuse for the name? “We wanted to be different. This is one name that will stay in people’s minds,” owner Punit Shablok told Reuters. “We are not promoting Hitler. But we want to tell people we are different in the way he was different.”

What a ridiculous explanation. If you're not promoting Hitler, and if you want to be different, you can choose from millions of other names for your restaurant.

This has nothing to do with free speech. There's only one reason for selecting a controversial name, and that reason is publicity. If you want attention, resort to vulgarity, tastelessness, and a lack of common sense and decency. It works every time.

This is the same reason there is a deodorant named after Marilyn Monroe -- it sells. (I'm not kidding. Go here)

The 2996 Project

2996 is a powerful website I came across and recommend to anyone who wants to pay tribute to the victims of September 11.

According to the creator, D.C.Roe, "on September 11, 2006, 2,996 volunteer bloggers
will join together for a tribute to the victims of 9/11. Each person will pay tribute to a single victim." As of today, they still need at least 996 bloggers to sign up. I signed up today and was given the name of Edward F. Beyea. I found it remarkable that out of all of the people about whom I could have been randomly assigned to write, his story was one that I particularly remembered and that had stayed with me since 2001.

Please consider signing up today for this worthy cause.

Terrorism: It's Bush's Fault

The closer we get to the 5th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, the more oblivious some people are becoming.

Molly Ivins has this column, written after the British plot was foiled, in which she says:
"We have nothing to fear but fear itself, especially since fear is now being fomented and manipulated for political purposes by a bunch of shameless hacks. Who is trying to make you afraid and why? This Karl Rove tactic is getting quite threadbare, in fact, and so much so that it is getting dangerously close to comedy."

Yes, it's very amusing. I guess George W. Bush and Karl Rove were also responsible for this German terror plot, as described at Little Green Footballs.

And don't forget what John Kerry said in 2004, that threats of terrorism have been exaggerated.

How anyone, having seen what happened on September 11, can still say these things with a straight face is a mystery to me.

Last night the History Channel had a program called "The Miracle of Stairway B", about how, by some miracle, the firemen and the woman they rescued survived the collapse of the World Trade Tower. See the description here
They also showed "The World Trade Center: Rise and Fall". No matter how many times I see that film footage of the 2nd jet flying into the Tower, I am shocked beyond belief. If those Towers had collapsed sooner than they did, and a little later in the day, the death toll could have been in the 10,000s. But even that wouldn't have stopped the conspiracy theorists and Muslim-excusers, I don't think.

Go here to see the September 11 Fifth Anniversary page on the History Channel's website, as well as the programming schedule.

Jimmy Carter Must be Senile

During lunch today at work, I rapidly lost my appetite after I saw Jimmy Carter's remarks on Israel at Little Green Footballs.

Regarding the history between Germans and Jews, our former President said "I think most people believe that enough time has passed so that historical facts can be ignored." I assume he is referring to the Holocaust.

Maybe he hopes that other historical facts will be ignored, like the fact that Americans were held hostage in Iran for 444 days during his presidency.

Mocking the Holocaust

I heard about this on Neil Cavuto's Fox News program tonight.

He wondered why the media isn't covering this story, and why they aren't taking the threats of the Iranian Hitler, Ahmadinejad, seriously.

The answer is obvious. It's because the targets of these threats are Jews, and because, unlike the Muslims, we don't go rampaging through the streets, looting, burning, and rioting over cartoons. And, we are not "professional victims."

But mocking the Holocaust; openly calling for Israel's destruction; and brazenly preaching hatred against Jews, are things that should never be ignored or excused.

Cease-fire Nonsense

I've always liked Thomas Sowell, whose writing is filled with common sense, and who wastes no time getting to the heart of the matter. In his latest column he says:

"Why do these phony cease-fire scenarios keep getting repeated? Because there are too many people, including many in the media, who take the corrupt windbags at the U.N. seriously — so our political leaders have to act as if they take the U.N. seriously as well."

That sums it up nicely, doesn't it?

23 Anti-Israel Members of the U.S.Congress

Thanks to my uncle Leon, here is a list of the 23 anti-Israel members of Congress, who deserve to be defeated.

If ever there was a definitive list of the anti-Israel members of Congress, we have it now.

They are mostly Democrats.

It's these 23 members who voted against last week's House and Senate resolutions of support for Israel.

No other issue and no US political party allegiance is more important in
these times than the safety and security of Israel.

Following is a list of legislators who voted "No" on the resolutions of support for Israel. Pass this on.

SENATORS VOTING "NO" (2)
Robert Byrd, Dem., W.Va.
Ernest Hollings, Dem. S.C.

Senile Mike Wallace + the Ahmadinejad Fan Club

From Little Green Footballs (http://www.littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/weblog.php)
CBS Viewers Dig Ahmadinejad, Dis Wallace

My own opinion was that Mike Wallace was crazy to fawn over that
Iranian lunatic Ahmadinejad, especially since Wallace is Jewish. But what I found incredible was the following letter to CBS. The viewer wasn't angry over the treasonous interview, or that someone who hates and threatens Israel so openly would be the subject of any interview. No -- this viewer was upset that Wallace was "rude" to "peaceful" MISTER Ahmadinejad!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was completely embarassed as to how this interview was handled. Mike Wallace was rude in every way. While on the other hand Mr. Ahmadinejad was speaking peace and presenting himself in a manner that I was impressed with. I would not have put up with Mike Wallace's behavior for that length of time.
What is 60 minutes thinking. I can't believed you aired this.
The most unprofessional piece of journalism I have ever seen.
You should be ashamed of yourself!

Speechless

I am pretty much speechless today, from the events of the past few days. So, I'm going to let these photos from Little Green Footballs say it for me.

And this shameful cartoon exposed by Solomonia, with thanks to Smooth Stone

This, with the complicity of the Vichy media, is what we have in this country, and around the world.

"Hezbollah Wins"

Andy McCarthy on National Review's The Corner writes, "Hezbollah wins this big just by being legitmized. Hezbollah is a terrorist organization, not a country. The resolution we are signing on to, however, addresses it as if it were a country. The resolution doesn't purport to direct any UN member nation to make Hezbollah cease firing — least of all Lebanon, the purported sovereign of this territory. Instead, it appeals to Hezbollah directly — in the same paragraph in which it addresses Israel, as if there were no difference in status between the two — and "calls on" it to stand down."

Last night C-Span had live coverage from the U.N., and it was nauseating to see diplomats from Argentina and Japan and Russia demanding that Israel withdraw from Lebanon. It's fine for them to talk -- it's not their countries that are under unrelenting attack. Does anyone really think that Hezbollah will suddenly become a peaceful people? Terrorists don't change their stripes. And in the light of this week's U.K. terrorist plot, to cave in and capitulate to these barbarians is incomprehensible to me.

Meanwhile, I heard today that Hezbollah rockets may have been responsible for shooting down an IDF helicopter, resulting in casualties. What will the U.N. say about that?

Victory for Terrorism

Prime Minister Olmert's accepting the U.N. ceasefire resolution is a disaster for Israel and a victory for terrorism.

Already I have seen comparisons to Neville Chamberlain, and I have to agree.

It makes you wonder what the outcome would have been if Sharon had not been incapacitated.

Politically Incorrect: "Islamic Fascists"

When President Bush referred yesterday to the masterminds behind this latest horrific terror plot as "Islamic Fascists", he hurt the feelings of the people at the Council for American Islamic Relations.

According to Neal Boortz (http://boortz.com/nuze/), the executive director of CAIR responded not by condemning the terrorists, but by saying, "We believe this is an ill-advised term and we believe that it is counter-productive to associate Islam or Muslims with fascism."

Tsk tsk, what a shame. Personally, I found the President's phrase too mild. So, if they don't like "Islamic Fascists", maybe they'd prefer "terrorist thugs", "conscienceless murderers", "cold-blooded killers", "Muslim Nazis", "evil terrorists", and/or "inhuman monsters".

Any other suggestions?

Terrorists' Plot in Britain..but Don't Dare Call them "Muslims"!

Go immediately to Michelle Malkin here and read about the latest very serious terror plot.

And yet...they would rather the public be blown up on planes than describe the terrorists as "Muslims".

Like the 7 Muslims who wanted to blow up the Chicago Sears Tower, the British terrorists will probably be dismissed as "pranksters", and the politically correct media will make sure this story quickly fades away.

Maybe everyone will finally wake up when the next plot isn't thwarted. But maybe not even then.

Good and Sad Political News

The good news is that Rep. Cynthia McKinney of Georgia lost her bid for reelection. Will her father blame the Jews again this time?

The sad, amazing news was that Rep. Joseph Lieberman was defeated in Connecticut. It's amazing, because I never thought he could lose, especially to a newcomer. And it's sad, because I heard that during the campaign, some people said they would not vote for Lieberman simply because he is Jewish. If this is true, then the Democratic Party is in worse shape than they will admit.

Making 9/11 Fun

From the New York Sun (finally available free on the web without having to subscribe) by way of Lucianne.com comes this article, yet another example of sugar-coating the truth. It's about an activity book being used to teach school children about what happened on September 11. Here's my favorite paragraph:

"The booklet, funded in part by an event involving Olympic silver medal winner Nancy Kerrigan, is intended to make for "a happy 9/11 commemorative event," said Tara Modlin, the founder of the organization distributing it, Stars, Stripes & Skates."To teach kids about an event so morbid, we needed to make something fun for them," she said."

"Make something fun for them"?! I'd sure hate to see the activity book that would be used to teach students about the Holocaust!

THIS Makes News?

When you think of all the sordid and sleazy topics that are discussed openly on television these days, where nothing is sacred and no holds are barred, I found
this "shocking" revelation both amusing and insulting at the same time.

New Aish Movie

Aish has a new movie called "Lebanon:Myth and Facts" which you can watch here. It's a real shame that Israel constantly has to explain herself over and over again to a world that won't listen.

Some good links

Before I leave for work I wanted to recommend two things. First, get on the mailing list to be notified of each edition of Haveil Havalim, the Jewish link roundup created by David Gerstman of Soccer Dad, which is more important than ever this days. Go here to see his website and to view the Haveil Havalim archives. To submit an item for consideration in an upcoming HH, or to get on the mailing list, e-mail dhgerstman@hotmail.com.
Meanwhile, Haveil Havalim #81 can be seen here at Perspectives of a Nomad.

Secondly, Smooth Stone has the following report of casualties and damage so far from the War Against Israel. Maybe the nightly news, instead of keeping track of how many days this is taking, should look right here

And you never can go wrong by visiting Little Green Footballs at http://www.littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/weblog.php

While the mainstream media continues its distortion, anti-Israel bias, manipulation, and downright fakery, these and other great bloggers will tell you what's really going on.

What's Wrong is Right; What's Right is Wrong

Check out Betsy's Page here
for two stories that show how ridiculous things have become in this country. First, the doctored Reuters photo that tried to make the damage from IDF retaliative strikes look worse than it was; then, a genuine photo taken after Flight 93 crashed into the Shanksville, PA field on September 11, the subject of attacks from conspiracy crackpots who prefer to believe that the Bush Administration, not Muslim hijackers, was responsible.

So, in the world of the mainstream media and the conspiracy theory moonbats, anything that makes Israel look bad is okay, even if the "evidence" is fake. Anything that makes Muslims look bad (and anything that makes the presidency of George W. Bush NOT look bad) is not okay, even if the evidence is real.

"On the Brink of Moral Insanity"

Victor Davis Hanson has a great article in the National Review called "The Brink of Madness", where he describes today's frighteningly topsy-turvy politically correct thinking, and compares our current situation to the Nazi era in 1938. He writes, "Our present generation too is on the brink of moral insanity. That has never been more evident than in the last three weeks, as the West has proven utterly unable to distinguish between an attacked democracy that seeks to strike back at terrorist combatants, and terrorist aggressors who seek to kill civilians."

http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=ZDBhMzg5Mzk4NjQ5MjM5OTJhZjRjMWQ4OWMzNDhmMzk=

It's incomprehensible to me that the rest of the world still can't or won't recognize the difference between Islamo-Nazism and democracy. Even after September 11! Even now! Will it take a nuclear strike against Israel or against the United States to wake people up at long last?

Some of Mel's Best Friends are Jews!

The excuses for Mel Gibson keep rolling in, and he's also being portrayed as the victim of ostracism. Poor fellow, he's just misunderstood. Check out this Defamer item: http://defamer.com/hollywood/top/some-of-mel-gibsons-best-hollywood-friends-are-jews-192182.php

9/11: The BBC is Amused

While surfing the web during my lunch hour at work today, I was outraged to see what is considered funny in Britain. You have to go to Michelle Malkin's website to see the still photos she mentions. See if YOU find them hilarious. My UK friend Edna told me that this show has now been withdrawn, and I assume that's due to the angry reaction. Only uncivilized people, and terrorists, would find this remotely funny.

This is way beyond the pale, and inexcusable.

http://michellemalkin.com/

When did 9/11 become a laughing matter?
By Michelle Malkin · August 03, 2006 12:51 AM

These stills are from a BBC comedy called "Time Trumpet" (big hat tip - Steve J). The show features a satirical "Terrorism Awards" show with nominees including a "lone gunman" who shoots Tony Blair in the head as he sleeps with his wife; a 9/11-style video of terrorists crashing an airliner into the Houses of Parliament; and a Tel Aviv suicide bombing.

We are a month away from the five-year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. I still pause, once a day, to think about what happened and how it has changed my outlook on life. How it has opened my eyes to the evils of jihad. How it has changed the focus of my work. How it affects my children. How it affects us all. Every so often, when I'm in Washington, D.C., and a plane flies low on its way to Dulles or Reagan Airport, I catch my breath. And I remember. I cannot fathom how the BBC, the once-revered British network of supposedly serious journalists, could pull a sick stunt like this.

The Guardian blog quotes a haughty BBC spokesperson shrugging off any criticism:
"The clips have to be seen in the context of the whole series," said a BBC spokeswoman. The show begins on BBC2 this Thursday, with the terrorism episode scheduled for week three. "It is a satire. The scenarios are so ludicrous that anyone who complained would be making a fool of themselves."

We have the video at Hot Air. Watch and listen as the audience laughs at the images. Also notice the two "presenters" in the satirical awards show.

More Proof that the U.N. is Irrelevant

Talk about liberal appeasers! Kofi Annan's deputy, the equally disgracely Mark Malloch Brown, actually does not consider Hezbollah to be a terrorist organization.

This is yet another example of the terrorist-sympathizing, anti-Israel appeasers that run the United Nations.

"The Jewish state will no longer be trampled upon"

The quote by Ben Caspit, above and in boldface below, was the headline on Lucianne.com today. And Front Page Magazine (http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=23656) has an excerpt from the Washington Times article that contained that quote; On the Times website, you have to scroll down to where it says "The Qana Massacre", below the perfect Cox and Forkum cartoon. We need more Ben Caspits. We need another Winston Churchill, someone who will say, "Never give in" and "We shall never surrender".

From the Washington Times: Public 'won't bend' in uproar over Qana. (via TIA Daily)

The Israeli public, which has been united in support of the government's military actions in Lebanon, stood firm yesterday despite the international uproar over the deaths on Sunday of more than 30 children and several adults in the town of Qana.
"We won't bend," read the headline on a front-page column by the leading political commentator for the Ma'ariv newspaper.

"It's time you understood, the Jewish state will no longer be trampled upon," wrote Ben Caspit. "We won't allow anyone to exploit population centers to bomb our citizens. You can condemn us, you can boycott us, you are invited not to visit us, and if necessary, we will stop visiting you."

Three weeks into the war, the heavy civilian death toll in Lebanon has not changed most Israelis' perception of the war as an existential conflict over the right to live without the threat of Hezbollah rockets, as well as a proxy battle with an Iranian government bent on destroying the country. ...

In a defiant nationwide address yesterday, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said the army would continue to hit Hezbollah guerrillas in Lebanon despite an international chorus calling for an immediate cease-fire.

"There is no cease-fire, and there will be no cease-fire," Mr. Olmert said.

"Citizens of Lebanon, we regret the pain caused to so many of you, the fact that you had to flee your homes and places of residence and the unintentional harm to innocents, but we do not apologize for it.

"We will not give up -- not even for a moment -- our right to protect the state of Israel and defend our lives."

"Brothers in Arms": the Israeli Defense Forces

Smooth Stone (http://www.smoothstone.blogspot.com/) has linked to a very touching video clip about the IDF, of whom we should be extremely proud. If you have a pop-up blocker, make sure you turn it off in able to see this, and please pass this link on to everyone you know.

A Savage Remark

Michael Savage, a bit of whose radio show I got to listen to last evening, wondered why the media was no longer talking about the case of the Muslim who killed and wounded women at the Jewish Federation in Seattle. He said, and I agree, that if the crime were reversed, and a white racist had gone into a mosque and started shooting, it would be on the news continually, along with protest marches in the streets. Instead, the story has all but dropped off the radar. I guess when Muslims shoot Jews, it isn't politically incorrect enough to mention.

As for the killer, who is being referred to as "the shooter" (and whose Muslim identity is deliberately being ignored by the media) he is being portrayed as a nice boy in high school who obviously is suffering from "bipolar". Gee, isn't that the same thing Patrick Kennedy had after his drunk driving incident? Is this the new excuse now? If so, I don't buy it.

And Mel Gibson's self-serving apology reminded me of Ted Kennedy's after Chappaquiddick. It was especially crafted to get sympathy, and it doesn't work with me. However, it DID work with The UK Telegraph, whose headline is "Mel Gibson deserves pity, not pillory". Read this article, if you have a strong stomach.

"ABC Pulls Plug On Gibson Project About Holocaust"

Even BEFORE Mel Gibson's unforgivable antisemitic rant, it would have been an outrage for such a man to create a TV series on the Holocaust. (This is like having that Iranian lunatic create a miniseries about Israel!)

Does anyone remember his father's statement that the Holocaust was exaggerated? Mel Gibson made excuses for his father and did not refute that statement. So, all I can say is, like father, like son.

And good for ABC.

Walt Disney Co.'s ABC Television Network pulled the plug on a miniseries about the Holocaust that it was developing with Mel Gibson's production company, after the actor allegedly made anti-Semitic remarks when he was arrested last week on suspicion of drunken driving.
