Defending Capitalism

I like Ben Stein's column I Love Wall Street: Those who attack it are reckless enemies of freedom.  Read his explanation of what Wall Street is and does.  He sums up:  "It’s dangerous for the nation, and its younger members especially, to see Wall Street as something to be 'occupied,' tied down, strangled — instead of the powerful engine for well being in a free society that it is. The enemy is not the free market and never has been: the enemy is those who hate freedom, and Wall Street is a big part of that freedom. We attack it at our peril."

And at our peril we elect socialists and radical Democrats who try to destroy instead of build.

Another Vast, Right-Wing Conspiracy

This is from Hot Air: "Oh my: Some Hillary e-mails 'too damaging' to release? What happens when redactions become insufficient to cover the damage to national security from Hillary Clinton’s unauthorized and unsecured home-brew e-mail system? Get ready to find out. Fox News’ Catherine Herridge and Pamela Browne exclusively report that the intelligence community will prevent the State Department from releasing at least 22 e-mails in the current tranche, because not even redactions can prevent damage to national security from their release."

My, that's comforting. The question is: to whom are these e-mails too damaging, to our country, or to Hillary's presidential aspirations?

Obamacarelessness

From Time magazine: "So far, 83% of those who have enrolled for coverage at the federal insurance marketplace Healthcare.gov have qualified for some kind of discount, with the average subsidized premium costing $113 per month as a result. Apparently, though, the problem is that many uninsured remain 'disengaged' in the enrollment process, according to Kaiser. Most have not bothered to find out if they’re eligible for discounts."

They are disengaged? Obama destroyed the existing health care system because of the uninsured, and they can't even be bothered?  Why waste time and money to help people who won't even help themselves?

I remember it so vividly, and I never forgot the look on the face of Christa McAuliffe's mother. Neither did other people, as seen in this original reporting from January 29, 1986. I've also never forgotten President Reagan's eulogy: "We will never forget them, nor the last time we saw them, this morning, as they prepared for their journey and waved goodbye and 'slipped the surly bonds of earth' to 'touch the face of God."

Putting on Heirs

I heard this question on the news tonight: who is the heir to Obama's legacy, Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders? That's easy -- the one who can best finish the destruction of our country that Obama began. Sanders is a socialist and Hillary is a female Obama. The only thing worse than one of them is the two of them together as President and Vice President!

But that question makes me wonder: who in their right mind would want to be Obama's heir? That's nothing to be proud of!

Remember the Holocaust!

Today is International Holocaust Remembrance Day, and the UK Daily Mail (which I usually find an annoying celebrity tabloid) has some touching articles like this one.
I am convinced that even after all this time and all the revelations, people still don't realize, or care about, the magnitude and scope of the evil destruction of Jewish life in Europe.

Finally someone is talking about the other threat that illegal immigrants pose to our country: communicable diseases. I saw a report on the Zika virus on the BBC News last night, and it isn't pretty. Do we really want diseases like this spreading here? We need another Ellis Island, and quick.

Obviously performances are being judged by the quality of the acting rather than the color of the skin, and in our PC society, that's a bad thing. I just think the boycotters look like sore losers!

Nervy Lawsuit

Remember TV shows like "Father Knows Best" and "Leave it to Beaver" in which the kids always learned a lesson by the end of the episode? These days, the lesson is to never take responsibility for your actions, and always blame someone else.  So I was unsurprised to see this defense mentioned on the news: “The Taco Bell exec who got canned from his job after he was caught on video drunkenly attacking his Uber driver is suing the driver for $5 million. … The suit says that it’s against California state law to record someone without their consent.”

Waiting in Line

I am so tired of hearing about the Powerball lottery and seeing people standing in long lines to buy a ticket! What's amazing to me are senior citizens standing in a line for an hour or more.  I did get a kick out of this comparison, though: "Keith Davidson, 64, made his own call to ask his friend John Kaahui, 79, if he wanted to go for tickets. Waiting for Powerball tickets seemed like something for the Las Vegans to do, Davidson said, and no wait could faze him. In 1994, he said, he spent eight hours in line in Yorba Linda, Calif., to see the body of the recently deceased President Richard Nixon. That wait wasn't worth it, he said; the casket was closed."

Obama is living in a fantasy world if he actually believes that there are no existential threats to our country.

And look at the fact that our sailors are being held by his friends the Iranians.  The best Obama can hope for is that they are released during his State of the Union speech, and that he can announce that release.

As If I Need Another Reason to Skip The State of the Union Speech

How infuriating!  "Two leading Democratic lawmakers are encouraging their colleagues to bring Muslim Americans as their guests to Tuesday's State of the Union in what they're calling a 'stand against hate.'" Someone ought to remind Reps. Ellison and Wasserman Schultz that we are the victims, not the villains, and if they want to bring guests, if should be the families of those maimed and murdered by terrorists, such as the family of Philly policeman Jesse Hartnett!

Also, Bob Orkund writes that the state of the union is unwell, despite all of Obama's claims to the contrary.

I will definitely not be watching tomorrow night.

Argus Hamilton's latest column of zingers offers news items such as this one: "The FBI was mum Monday over whether the inquiry into Hillary Clinton's e-mails had grown into a full-fledged investigation. It's hard to tell how much classified data she e-mailed. Last month Hillary's computer crashed when she threw it out of her campaign plane at forty thousand feet."

More Common Sense on Muslims

I love Daniel Greenfield's column Protecting Muslims From Trump, which says exactly what I think:
"After an Islamic terror attack, Americans are told that they’re foolish and fearful to worry about the type of Islamic terrorism that just filled a local morgue with bodies. Instead of focusing on the families of the dead, the media coverage sharply pivots to a million stories about Muslims who claim to be terrified of a 'backlash' from Americans and must be protected from the threat of this imaginary backlash.
When Americans worry about being murdered by the Islamic terrorist next door, they are accused of 'giving in to fear', but when Muslims claim that they’re terrorized by the occasional dirty look, that’s not only a legitimate fear, but actually rises to the level of a national crisis.
Never mind the American corpses, let’s focus on the Muslim hurt feelings.
After Trump suggested that maybe we shouldn’t be bringing tens of thousands of Syrians to this country when 13% of them poll as ISIS supporters (that’s 1,300 for each batch of 10,000 Syrians), Muslims Brotherhood front groups and their media allies swiftly began their victimhood theater.
Donald J. Trump has killed zero Americans or even Muslims in terrorist attacks. Meanwhile Muslims have killed 9,983 Americans.
Determining whether Trump or Muslims are the bigger threat is a matter of simple math.
But the media dismisses the threat of Islamic terrorism and urges the country to panic over Trump. And it never questions the credibility of the Muslims who whine that they need protection from Trump."

Sex Crimes Are Bad - Except When the Attackers Are Muslims

This is almost impossible to believe.  "A political scandal is developing in Germany as ordinary citizens wake up to the scale of the migrant crime cover-up, and the callous reaction of the mayor of Cologne to mass-sex crime on new year’s eve. The Mayor of Cologne has spoken out about the attacks, but her carefully chosen words are unlikely to delight many. Rather than addressing the root causes of the violence — unlimited mass migration and a totally failed system of integration — the newly elected pro-migrant mayor instead blamed the victims of the sexual abuse for having failed to defend themselves against the immigrant attackers."

So if you're Bill Cosby, you're guilty, but if you're a Muslim, it's the women's own fault?

Someone has to please explain to me this blind, desperate, suicidal defense of Muslims and illegal aliens, because I simply don't get it at all.

As usual, there seem to be too many people with far too much time on their hands. Per Alexandra Petri, "According to the Wall Street Journal, there is a movement - or, as I prefer, 'epidemic,' of English teachers telling people to ditch 'boring' words like 'said.' 'Said,' handouts proclaim, 'is Dead.'"

I would much rather have a simple "said" than the extremely annoying "shared"!

Here's Ben Stein's latest column containing his comments on current events.  I like the way he writes, and even after all this time I am still surprised by his worshipful tone regarding Richard Nixon. Still, at least Nixon didn't deliberately destroy and weaken his country in the eyes of the world the way our current president has.

Predictions for 2016

Read Greg Crosby's The Year in Preview, which is another indication of how people expect Obama's final year to turn out. For instance, "I also guarantee that 2016 will see our national debt increase, our economy continue to stagnate, our public housing, food stamps, and other government programs grow, our health care systems sliding further into single payer socialized medicine like Canada, our standing in the world decrease even more, and Islamic terrorism gain ground. I know this because the Obama administration will still be in charge."

Motive Unclear

From the UK Telegraph: "A gunman identified by relatives as a member of Israel's Arab minority killed two people and injured seven others in a shooting attack on Friday at a popular bar in central Tel Aviv.
Security camera footage showed the assailant, who appeared to be in his mid-to-late 20s and wore protective eyeglasses and a windbreaker, browsing dried fruit at a health food store on Dizengoff Street. He then pulled a machine pistol from his backpack and stepped onto the pavement, shooting wildly.
Police said the motive for the attack was not immediately clear."

We all know what the motive was, and the downplaying of terrorism continues.
