Some Thoughts on Rosie O'Donnell

Investor's Business Daily has a great title for its editorial: "Tokyo Rosie". Also, Popular Mechanics has responded to that crackpot's 9/11 conspiracy theories here.

Protecting Our Right Not to be Blown Up

More on the motion to protect passengers against lawsuits, from The American Thinker. Author Pamela Meister's headline, " The Safety of Many Should Trump the Hurt Feelings of the Few", should be a matter of common sense. We shouldn't have to stop and think about it. About shoebomber Richard Reid, she says, " ...had Reid's fellow passengers not acted, today we'd be asking, 'Why weren't they more vigilant?' rather than congratulating them for their swift actions."

A Good Trade

Can't we send Rosie O'Donnell to Iran in exchange for the British hostages??

More About Matzoh

Soccer Dad has added the following amusing touch to the above post on the matzoh sculpting competition winner. "The official theme was "Home," contestant Eric Goldberg said, and his three little matzo dioramas were meant to represent his parents' home, his grandparents' home, and now (the one with the matzo futon), his own home, as an NYU student. They gave me a foundation,' he said of his family, and you just know that somewhere out there, there are two generations of Goldbergs very proud that their boy is spending his $39,000 education gluing matzos together."

Flying The Unfriendly Skies

Smooth Stone talks about Peter I. King , the New York Congressman who introduced the motion to protect the traveling public from lawsuits by future Flying Imams. The Democrats opposed this motion, and Smooth ends his post by saying, "If you see something, say something. Will you still vote for a Democrat in 2008?" I certainly won't!

The Plane Truth

Betsy's Page reports on the House measure to give immunity to passengers like those on the Flying Imams flight, who do what the government has told us to do: report suspicious behavior. It seems that some people care more for the "rights" of potential terrorists than for the safety of our country. I watched some of the debate on C-SPAN last night, and it was quite contentious, with much booing at Democrat Bennie Thompson, who seemed to imply that all such reporting is racist. Is it better that passengers keep quiet out of fear of lawsuits and have their plane blown up? The rallying cry should be "Remember September 11!"

Blame the Jews - Part 390

Israelly Cool reports on the sewage flood in Gaza: "Sometimes, devoting all your time and money towards killing Jews can cause some unwanted complications.... Meanwhile, it is important to note that Israel offered assistance straight away, despite the fact the Palestinians are trying to drive us into the sea. We were initially turned down, but now it seems as though the Palestinians would rather suffer accepting help from the sons of monkeys and pigs, than live like pigs"

"Cordial Pressure and Devastating Pleasantries"

Here is Scrappleface's perfect take on the "tough" British response to Iran: "Iran announced today that it would release immediately the 15 British soldiers and marines it took hostage last week to avoid further "cordial pressure and devastating pleasantries" from British Prime Minister Tony Blair."

The British Hostage Crisis

The Guardian newspaper reports that "Iranians blame UK for all that goes awry; they hate Britain far more than they hate America or Israel and blame this country for all their ills." How charming. Let's hope this doesn't turn into another 444-day hostage crisis!

Good News in the War on Terror

I hadn't heard this news yet, so I was glad to see it on Smooth Stone: "British Make Arrests in Transit Attacks". Finally!

U.N.Shows Some Spine

The United Nations Security Council has just imposed new sanctions over Iran after Iran seized 15 British navy men. Michael Savage suggested on the radio last night that the United States seize that maniac Ahmadinejad in return, when he arrived in New York to speak at the U.N. However, he's not coming here after all, blaming passport problems. Shouldn't the Brits be angrier and tougher than this meek statement? "Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett said: “{Iran's Ambassador to London} was left in no doubt that we want them back. We have asked for a full explanation on what happened and are leaving them in no doubt we want the immediate and safe return of our personnel and their equipment.”

Mourning in Israel

Smooth Stone comments on an Israeli who has published a death notice for the State of Israel: "In sorrow and grief we announce the passing of our beloved State of Israel which was murdered by wicked gold-diggers who only sought power, men who would fight and argue. Those who destroyed you came from within you." However, I feel this sort of thing only gives more ammunition to Israel's enemies.

The Family that Kills Together

If there ever was a perfect argument for the death penalty, it's the 3 animals -- son and his parents -- who tortured and killed that poor little boy in Georgia. This is the definition of "evil". Spare us the talk about a needle in the arm being "cruel and unusual". Spare us the excuses. These three deserve to die.

Jewish Rome

This is an interesting New York Sun article about Jewish Rome: "As Micaela Pavoncello, a guide whose Roman-Jewish lineage dates to the second century B.C.E., demonstrates in her walking tours (jewishroma.com), this is perhaps the only place in the city where one can not only see but taste and hear two millennia of history in a few square blocks."

Lawyers Against Imams

Here's some encouraging news regarding the outrageous lawsuit by the Flying Imams against their fellow passengers: "Lawyers and a Muslim group say they will defend at no cost airline passengers caught up in a lawsuit between a group of imams and U.S. Airways if the passengers are named as "John Does" and sued for reporting suspicious behavior that got the Muslim clerics booted from a November flight."

If...You Must, for 3/21/07

I'm running out of compliments for Soccer Dad's series If...You Must blog roundup, so go read it yourself and you'll see why I enjoy it so much.

Bush-BASKing

And then, when you are sick to death of all the daily Bush-bashing, along comes The Anchoress with another reminder of the President Bush the media never shows. Just bask in the warmth of this post for awhile.

What Children Mean to the Muslims

It's always gratifying to read eloquent writing about things you agree with but can't quite put into words yourself. Here is Jay Nordlinger in National Review, on Muslim brutality: "About three years ago - maybe four - I sort of gave up commenting on a certain outrage in the Arab world: the indoctrination of little children in a death cult. How many times can you say, "It's terrible, it's terrible"? But every now and then, it's worth reminding ourselves of this outrage. So, have a quick look at this transcript from MEMRI (the Middle East Research Institute). Two children of a suicide bomber - one who was sadly successful - are being interviewed on Al-Aqsa TV, the Hamas channel. Here we go:
Interviewer: What did mama do?
Dhoha: She committed martyrdom.
Interviewer: She killed Jews, right? How many did she kill, Muhammad?
Muhammad: Huh?
Interviewer: How many Jews did mama kill?
Muhammad: This many . . .
Interviewer: How many is that?
Muhammad: Five.
Interviewer: Do you love mama? Do you miss mama? Where is mama, Muhammad?
Muhammad: In Paradise.
And so on, and so on. Read the rest, if you have the stomach. I've read a million, and they are all alike. One never becomes completely inured, however. And we must remember that this is the mentality the Israelis are up against, and it is the mentality we are all up against. If a society can do this to children - what can't it do?"

Holocaust Vigil

Ohio State University is holding a 24 hour Holocaust vigil on April 16. "The vigil consists of a memorial service to honor the dead and a 24-hour period in which various students and student groups continuously read the names of those who perished." I wonder if this solemn memorial will make the national news? On second thought...

Outrageous O'Donnell

How does Rosie O'Donnell continue to get away with this stuff? Neal Boortz reports on her 9/11 theory:
"That theory would be that the twin towers were brought down on purpose by the government to...are you ready for this? To get rid of records of government investigations into corporate fraud."

Sandy's Stress

Did you hear Sandy Berger's latest excuse? In an e-mail to US News, he claims, "Tired, stressed, I made a very stupid decision–to take the documents home with me so that I could review them in more detail and so that I could compare the apparent differences among versions." Since when does stress cause classified documents to leap into your pants and stuff themselves into your socks? And there's a huge difference between stealing documents and taking them home. He ends his e-mail by saying, "Now I wish this thing would go away." We need some good investigative reporters to make sure this thing never goes away!

Life is Better

You'd never know it from what the media tells you, but Iraqis think life is better for them now. Comments Neal Boortz, "One wonders just how well things in Iraq will have to start going before people finally recognize things are getting better...and were never as bad as reported."

The Israel Project

I received a mailing today from The Israel Project, a worthwhile organization whose mission is to educate the public about Israel. I finally realized what was different about this mailing; unlike those from other organizations, this one didn't ask for money!

Plame the Messenger

Here's a very good editorial on Valerie Plame's testimony. I couldn't get over the fact that the woman, placed conveniently behind Plame, and wearing the "Impeach Bush" t-shirt, was shown nearly continually. The camera could have focused on the questioners rather than on Plame, but you know the media!

Imagine Peace With Israel

Smooth Stone has an article about Lebanese who want to make peace with Israel. Why can't we hear about and read stories like this more often?

Political Correctness: a Real "Boar"

Neal Boortz links to this idiocy about banning "The Three Little Pigs" in England. This time, it's the English themselves who are the morons! They were so worried about offending Muslims that they changed the name of the story to "The Three Little PUPPIES" -- and now even some Muslims think this is overdoing it!

The Flying Imams

Here's a terrifically-written take on the outrageous lawsuit by the Flying Imams, who are suing not only US Air but also the passengers who reported their suspicious behavior! Let's just hope US Air has a lawyer with spine. (I thought that talk show host Michael Savage, mentioning this on the radio last night, was going to have a heart attack, that's how angry he was.)

Begosh & Begorrah!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Tomorrow I will be wearing to work a button pin I have worn for at least the past 20 years. It says "Eat at St. Pat's Kosher Deli: Irish chicken soup; matzoh balls; gefilte fish; latkes; kugel". And in honor of the day, here is a nice story about the Irish Jewish Museum in Dublin.

Grim

The news has been so bad lately, so negative, that I dread putting on the TV after work. The thought of having to deal with the 2008 Presidential race for another year is really sickening. So I found myself a website that reports only positive news, and here is one of the stories: "A 97-year-old woman credited with saving 2,500 Jewish children during the Holocaust was honored by parliament Wednesday at a ceremony during which Poland's president said she deserves the Nobel Peace Prize."

"If..You Must" -- 3/13/07

Here's yet another terrific edition of Soccer Dad's If...You Must. How he does so much reading for the rest of us is really impressive. On his website, he also refers to Sam Levenson's mother's humorous definition of Daylight Savings Time: cutting the end of a blanket and sewing it onto the other side to make it longer and then cutting it off the other end and sewing back on the original side to make it shorter. (San Levenson was my mother's guidance counselor at Samuel Tilden High!)

Pandering

Why does the President insist on pandering to Mexico and to illegal aliens? I can't understand what kind of hold they have over him. "Mexican President Felipe Calderon chastised President Bush today for doing too little to stem the causes of illegal immigration and for failing to curb the U.S. appetite for illegal drugs." He had the nerve to chastise the President? Bush ought to be the one doing the chastising rather than meekly accepting the criticism! Or is it now considered politically incorrect to fight back?

Parental Involvement? Fat Chance!

Excuses for childhood obesity always amaze me, but this one from Australia takes the cake. The way this is written, you'd think that the parents have no responsibility at all for their children. They just give birth to them, and that's it; it's everyone else's fault. "Homework contributing to childhood obesity, parents say. Parents and Friends chief Jenny Branch says as childhood obesity becomes a major problem, homework is forcing children to sit in front of computers instead of exercise."

Israel: Miss Unpopular

Rubicon3 reports that -- surprise, surprise! -- Israel is the least-liked country in the world. Thanks to the wonderful BBC for this propaganda.

Despicable Thugs

Glenn Beck said on TV last night that the only way to become famous these days is by being a thug or a whore. Here's some thugs he must have meant. This story won't receive the outrage and universal condemnation it deserves -- unless the media can blame Bush for the attack.

Whatever Happened to Common Sense?

From Overlawyered comes this story from England: "Police have warned householders to watch out for three convicted burglars, but cannot issue descriptions of the men for fear of breaching their human rights." Once again, political correctness is more important than safety and security.

5-Second Movies

Thanks to Metafilter, here's a 5-second version of Fiddler On The Roof. However, my favorite 5-second movie is Amadeus, which is hysterical.

Bravo to Boortz

I like Neal Boortz, particularly his Nealz Nuze column. It's nice to hear that his book, "Somebody's Gotta Say It", is on the bestseller list. Here's what he has to say about another incident of illegalania:
"Yet another example of why we're never going to do anything about illegal immigration in this country. Outrage is mounting because illegal aliens' children were stranded after their parents were rounded up and detained. So...we should do nothing about the problem because there are children involved? Please. The same thing should happen that always happens when criminals are arrested and innocent children are involved: the state takes custody and where possible, places the children with relatives. End of story. This isn't rocket science here. But there are those that say the illegals shouldn't be arrested, deported or prosecuted...because there are children involved. Nonsense. Extend that logic to other law-breakers: would you say a guy who robbed a bank shouldn't be put in prison because there is no one to take care of his kid? How about a terrorist? You get the idea. It's a sad situation...but not hard to determine exactly what to do. However, politicians eager to find any reason to do nothing about illegal immigration would seize on the issue."

Hip Hop Made Them Do It

Here are the clueless morons of the day. "Drug testing for 2 babies given weed by uncle: Teen doesn’t understand why his actions made nationwide news." Of course he doesn't understand! How could he, when the worst sorts of behavior are excused or laughed off? On Fox News, hip hop "music" is being blamed.

A Response to Antisemitism

From Lemon Lime Moon, a response to antisemitism, by the great Sam Levinson.

Continuing Antisemitism

Smooth Stone spotlights recent incidences of antisemitism. It never ends. These amoral criminals have nothing better to do with their time than vandalize synagogues and desecrate cemeteries. You never hear of Jews desecrating German cemeteries.

The Libby Verdict

You know all the media talk shows will be salivating over this story tonight. I can almost hear Chris Matthews shouting about it now. Scooter Libby guilty on four out of five counts . He faces up to 30 years in prison. Thirty years! O.J. Simpson murdered 2 people and is walking around scot free. And of course there's that little matter concerning Sandy Berger...

Good Question!

We already know the answer. Grim Milestone: 3000+ Casualties Since 2006. 3000+ dead terrorists in Afghanistan and Iraq, that is. If Coalition KIA's are a useful metric for gauging the success of the terrorists (and failure of American policy), why is it that terrorist KIA's are never cited by the MSM as a metric of gauging the success of American troops?

Funny Purim Post

Here's some Purim satire I wish were true. "AHMADINEJAD APOLOGIZES TO ISRAEL, CITES "RELIGIOUS FEARS"
5:46:PM Friday, Mar 02, 2007 Declares a full reversal of declarations"; vows to send pita "to every known Jewish address in the universe" TEHERAN (Hamodia) — Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmawhateverhisnameis stunned the world on Sunday with an about-face on his country's Israel policy. At a press conference carried by the world's major media, a visibly contrite Ahmadinejad, yarmulke on head, announced that he had been moved to reconsider his agenda by the Scroll of Esther, an ancient historical manuscript revered by Jews for over two millennia. 'I studied the Jewish history of our great Persian Empire, and discovered that we once had a similar leader with similar plans," he announced at a surprise international press conference. "Suffice it to say, I have very quickly concluded that I don't want to end up like my good buddy Saddam.'"

What a Riot!

I saw this story on the BBC News Friday night. These thugs were referred to by the BBC as "youth", the way the French rioters were. Is this another France in the making?

Loud Voices

These people are irrational, insane, and obsessed. Can't they talk about anything else?
Muhammad Al-Buheiri: First of all, we should be aware that the Jews always implement a rule they consider basic: A loud voice is capable of erasing the truth.
Interviewer: A loud voice?
Muhammad Al-Buheiri: Yes.
Interviewer: They are quite loud, aren’t they?
Muhammad Al-Buheiri: Precisely. If they attack somebody, they announce in the media and propaganda tools, which they control so skillfully, throughout the world... They turn the facts upside down. They turn the attacker into the attacked.
Interviewer: The media are controlled by the Jews.

Inexcusable Comparison

Julia Gorin analyzes a Salt Lake City newspaper article which somehow manages to compare a Holocaust survivor to the killer of people in a Utah shopping mall. Doesn't anyone stop and think before they speak or write? How was this story even approved for publication? "The author doesn’t even make a bland comparison of this victim of an atrocity to the victims of the killer. No, she compares a Jew who survived death to a Muslim who caused it. She is equating a villain with a victim, with someone who actually witnessed the Holocaust and didn’t go about killing people later as a result, to someone who left an enclave — which was not a labor or death camp — before any killing of its inhabitants took place. And this is a villain who is guilty of the kind of genocidal behavior and religious persecution that the other person was a victim of."
