Presidential Pipeline

What a great cartoon by Michael Ramirez!

Dismissing Important Stories

I like this Richard Baehr column at Israel Hayom that says that thanks to Donald Sterling, the proof of a Benghazi cover-up by the White House, and the disgraceful remarks about Israel by John Kerry were not the stories of the week and didn't get the attention they deserved. (Of course,  with our media protecting Obama, I doubt these would have made huge headlines even without Sterling!)

Do you think atrocities like this will receive as much publicity as Donald Sterling's remarks? I doubt it, unless some bimbos were there who recorded it: "Jihadists Execute 7 in Syria, 2 by Crucifixion."

Donald Sterling and Cliven Bundy are two old fools who got what they deserved, but it's not a matter of life and death -- Benghazi, Syria, and Israel are.

Serves Them Right!

From Hot Air, about this story: "Oklahoma death-row inmate dies of heart attack after botched execution.  'This could be a real turning point in the whole debate as people get disgusted by this sort of thing,' said one death-penalty opponent afterward. Could it? See for yourself what this degenerate did to earn himself a spot on the gurney and decide how disgusted you are. He raped the victim, shot her, and then had his cohorts bury her alive while she was bleeding out — and of the two men Oklahoma was set to execute last night, he’s arguably the lesser offender of the two. The other guy raped and killed … an infant. His execution’s now been stayed while Oklahoma figures out what went wrong with the drug cocktail they administered to the first inmate."  The only thing I'm disgusted about is that liberals actually expect us to care when the executions of animals like these aren't painless!  Why shouldn't they suffer?

Grandchild of the Holocaust

This simple and touching Holocaust Remembrance Day post is by Lara Dvora Berman, the grandchild of survivors.

Dog Day Afternoon

I am suffering from 24-hour TV sensory overload, so right now I'm looking at Elke Vogelsang's wonderful pictures of dogs rather than talk about the news. There -- don't you feel better already?

Ugly News

Here's another piece of encouraging economic news for you: "BLS: In 20% of American Families, No One Works."  That's 16,127,000 families! If Obama has his way, that figure will go even higher.

I feel the same way: "NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar attacked the collective outrage emanating from America’s media over Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling’s alleged racist remarks, calling the publication of a private conversation 'sleazy' and wondering why earlier, more public manifestations of racism failed to similarly shock."  I think it's because of the tabloid-trash, reality-TV-type nature of this story, which has captured the imagination of people who secretly like that sort of thing.

True colors: Somehow, I don't think John Kerry's public remarks will get the sort of press coverage Sterling's private ones did. He was forced to apologize for calling Israel an apartheid state.  He was obviously against Israel before he was for her, and I don't accept his apology.

Defensive

I see that Obama went on the defensive today against critics of his awful foreign policy. Responding to Fox News's Ed Henry, he said, "Well, Ed, I doubt that I’m going to have time to lay out my entire foreign policy doctrine. And there are actually some complimentary pieces as well about my foreign policy, but I’m not sure you ran them."  Who wrote those complimentary pieces, the Palestinians?

The Indecent Lawsuit of the Day

Here's a headline for you: Driver sues boy she struck and killed.  "A Canadian woman who hit three teenage boys on bikes while driving, killing one and injuring the other two, is suing the dead teen for the emotional trauma she suffered." Get this -- the emotional trauma SHE suffered! Greedy, awful people like this should be ostracized by their communities -- but I don't think shame even works anymore, because there is no shame.  The lack of decency and the lack of normal responses to situations continue to grow in our "new normal" society, so prepare yourself for worse.

One Reason We Still Need Holocaust Remembrance Day

"Hamas Calls Holocaust ‘Made-Up Story’ Ahead of Yom HaShoah."  You expect this from terrorists like Hamas, but there are millions of other people who feel the same way.

Israel, Defend Yourself!

Gil Solomon writes that it's time for Israel to take off the gloves, and here's why:
"The Obama-brokered 'peace talks' have fallen in a heap due to three main issues.
1. The unrelenting demands by an enemy that did not enter the talks in good faith and which to this day continues with the indoctrination of its population to hate the Jews and Israel.
2. The unrelenting concessions demanded by a US administration which on many occasions could have been taken for the mouthpiece of the Palestinian Authority (PA).
3. The realization – finally having sunk in to diehard Israeli leftists – that indulging the PA’s never ending claims and fantasies any further would mean national suicide.                                                                   Defying the Obama-inspired 'talks' by refusing to release the third batch of murderers gives hope that Israel has had enough and is finally getting up off its knees.
Let the gloves to come off now and let Israel declare the Oslo Accords a tragic mistake that recognized a people who never existed in the annals of history and expose to the world – in clear and unambiguous language – the fiction that is the 'Palestinian' narrative.
Israel must declare that the current so called 'peace talks' are dead and buried, not just stopped, and that the PA’s day in the sun and limelight on the world stage is well and truly over."

Bravo! I wish I heard this sentiment more often. Now go read the rest of the column and applaud some more.

The Council has spoken! Here are the latest Watcher's Council winners.

Read Daniel Greenfield's Friday Afternoon Roundup -- Common Practice.

Here's Caroline Glick's latest column, about Abbas and his partnership with Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Yet Israel is always seen as the villain!

Antisemitism on our college campuses: "Pro-Palestinian activists leave ‘eviction’ notices for Jewish NYU students".

I always like Peter Wehner's columns at Commentary Magazine, and this one was no exception. It's titled "Obama’s Staggering Record of Failure"
and includes this recap: "It’s not simply that Mr. Obama has fallen short of what he promised; it’s that he has been, in so many respects, a failure. Choose your metrics. Better yet, choose Mr. Obama’s metrics: Job creation. Economic growth. Improving our health-care system. Reducing the debt. Reducing poverty. Reducing income inequality. Slowing the rise of the oceans. Healing the planet. Repairing the world. The Russian 'reset.' Peace in the Middle East. Red lines in Syria. Renewed focus on Afghanistan. A new beginning with the Arab world. Better relations with our allies. Depolarizing our politics. Putting an end to the type of politics that 'breeds division and conflict and cynicism.' Working with the other party. Transparency. No lobbyists working in his administration. His commitment to seek public financing in the general election. The list goes on and on."

Unfortunately, the countdown clock shows that Obama has plenty of time for further destruction before he's out of office.

Meanwhile, read about the continuing emphasis on dependency and personal irresponsibility: "Chicago Public Schools Now Phoning Home to Make Sure Kids Are Signed Up for Welfare." What an embarrassment for our formerly self-reliant country!

What a Jerk!

What on earth brought on Cliven Bundy's rant against blacks, in mittern drinnen? This is worse than the "Duck Dynasty" contretemps, except that the Robertsons are still on the air, and the Bundys are just ranchers who have now lost all the support they just had. Idiot!

Speaking For The Dead

Here's a very powerful article and warning by Benjamin Brafman, speaking in the voice of his grandfather Yechiel Michoel Friedman, who was murdered at Auschwitz: "Jews are alive today. Israel is strong today, my family, your families, are here today, and we must keep reminding the world about our parents, grandparents, great grandparents and the children, who were gassed and cremated." Read it and pass it on.

See what you've missed in the news this week by reading Betsy's Page, Maggie's Farm, and Larwyn's Linx.  And if you want another example of the new normal and old apathy, take a look at this: "Horrifying: Bodies of Aborted Babies Burned to Power Homes in Oregon." Like a commenter, I immediately thought of the crematoria at Auschwitz.

Stop The P.C. Insanity!

Okay, I give up.  Read this appalling headline and try not to punch the computer screen:  "9/11 Museum Film Slammed for Offending Muslims."  The article goes on: "Religious leaders are slamming a documentary to be shown at the nation's premier 9/11 museum because it might make people believe Islam was responsible for the attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people."  Well, it certainly wasn't Jews or Catholics who were flying those jets into the buildings that day, was it?!  Let's just hope the September 11 Memorial Museum doesn't cave in to the Muslims, otherwise why even have this museum at all?

Classical Music

In Britain,  Ralph Vaughan Williams' beautiful "The Lark Ascending" has been voted the favorite piece of classical music on Classic FM.  It's easy to see why.  Coming in at #2 on the list is Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto
Number 2 , and Williams'  " Fantasia On A Theme by Thomas Tallis" is #3.

Not Wild About Harry

It's about time the Republicans went on the attack, and they picked a good target: the despicable Harry Reid. "The Republican National Committee has released a brutal memo on Senate majority leader Harry Reid, savaging him for repeatedly lying. The memo, under the name of press secretary Kirsten Kukowski, is titled 'Nothing’s Too Unethical for Harry Reid.'" The people of Nevada should be asked why they keep voting for this nasty man.

The GOP should release a brutal memo about Obama next.

No Shame

I saw this Henry Payne cartoon today on the Lucianne.com home page.  Somehow I doubt the media feels at all embarrassed.

How To Have a Politically Correct Seder

In this amusing column, Andrew Silow-Carroll has some ideas for the seder plate of the future, including these items:

"Potato: Placed on the plate piping hot, it reminds you not to bring up certain topics with your in-laws, especially but not limited to the high cost of prescription drugs and the traffic since they built the new development.
Rhubarb: Uh-oh, you brought up the cost of drugs when I told you not to, and now Uncle Harry is going on and on about Obamacare. Nice job.
Prune: Doesn't symbolize anything, but believe me, you'll want one in the next few days."

When Unacceptable Becomes Acceptable

I realize that the media is encouraging marijuana use, but isn't this getting embarrassing?  This lengthy and enthusiastic article is from CNN:    "'It's kind of like being a part of history," [65 year old Karen Stevenson] said Saturday, while waiting for a bus in front of a marijuana-themed sandwich shop. "I used to want to go to Amsterdam. Now I don't have to.'" Too bad Americans aren't as thrilled about important things like new jobs and energy independence instead!

TNN - Tragic News Network

The news is so terrible lately that I want to keep the TV off, or the mute button on. Between the missing MH370; the capsizing of the South Korean ferry with all those students on board; and the horrible accident on Mt Everest, it's been too much.   It's like "The Twilight Zone" meets "The Poseidon Adventure" meets "Into Thin Air."  One CNN reporter who was covering MH370 is now covering the ferry accident, and you wonder how she can bear it.

You've Got To Be Kidding

Jimmy Carter is opposing the much-needed Keystone XL pipeline, telling John Kerry, "You stand on the brink of making a choice that will define your legacy on one of the greatest challenges humanity has ever faced – climate change." What a ludicrous statement!

And if that isn't bad enough, Obama is delaying a decision on the pipeline till after the November 2014 elections.

The Republicans had better find their voice, and fast, because with gas prices now over $3.65 per gallon, and too many people on food stamps, we have real challenges to worry about.

It's time to read all the news at Betsy's Page, at Maggie's Farm, and at Larwyn's Linx. Terrorists in the News

71 people were killed by Islamic terrorists in Nigeria; 100 schoolgirls were kidnapped. And Al Qaeda held a meeting in broad daylight to threaten the United States. Yes, Al Qaeda is definitely on the run -- to its next terrorist attack. Somehow Obama never talks about red lines when it comes to Muslim thugs and murderers.

Speaking of terrorists...A man just happens to put a rice cooker in a backpack at the finish line at the Boston Marathon on the 1st anniversary of the terrorist attack -- and is excused as suffering from "bipolar disorder."  Stop with the excuses already!

Mozilla Madness

Here are some funny Firefox Add-ons from the clever folks at The People's Cube.

Hot Zone

With all the news about the Ebola virus in the news lately, I thought of a powerful book I read many years ago called "The Hot Zone", by Richard Preston.  This is a story you can't forget any time soon, and you definitely don't want this spreading in our country.

Suffering from Obamacaritis

Thomas Lifson writes that "Betsy McCaughey, who knows as much about Obamacare as anyone who wasn’t involved in writing it, offers a preview of the new disasters about to unfold as the health care law kicks in. If the law were a disaster film, her article could serve as the trailer for part 2." I saw her on TV the other night and wanted to call an ambulance right away.  Just read this, and tell me again how Obama and his supporters continue to get away with lying through their teeth, and why nobody seems to even care about the destruction.

A Pavlovian Response to "Jewish"

A terrible crime: "Three people died Sunday when a gunman opened fire outside the Jewish Community Center and a senior living facility in Johnson County.Police arrested the suspected shooter, a man in his 70s with a beard, outside Valley Park Elementary nearby by 2:45 p.m. He smiled and reportedly made anti-Semitic statements as he was led away."  Unfortunately for him, 2 of his victims aren't even Jewish, a grandfather and grandson who attend United Methodist Church of the Resurrection.

Having a Cow in Nevada

Here's the line of the day by Dana Loesch on the Bundy Ranch standoff, as seen at Larwyn's Linx: "If these cattle were people and they were here illegally, the Department of Justice would be running guns to them and the Department of Homeland Security would be driving by with free government phones and EBT cards."

Knives, Thugs, and Lowlifishness

A 16 year old attacked over 20 classmates with a knife; a creature went beserk after being told to lower her voice; gang members deliberately harassed Orthodox Jewish women.  What do these episodes, and others, have in common? These animals have never been taught how to act in a civilized manner, have never been told the difference between right and wrong, and have never learned how to respond appropriately. Don't blame the guns, knives, TV, movies, and social media -- it's the fault of these out-of-control individuals and their parents. Behavior that was indecent, unacceptable, and unimaginable years ago is now perfectly fine; manners and decency are no longer seen as important. How much more will be tolerated before people finally have had enough?

Laughable Comment of the Day

In a New York Times article about politicians going to see the Broadway play "All The Way" about LBJ,  Democratic Representative Steve Israel actually made this statement: “One day,” Mr. Israel said, “if there is a Broadway show about the first year of the Obama presidency, where he rescues the economy from depression, people will ask, ‘Why can’t our president be more like that?’”

The Censoring of Truth

Things are definitely bad in liberal-land if even Kirsten Powers finds this objectionable! As if the so-called resignation of Brendon Eich from Mozilla wasn't enough,  now "Kickstarter, the nation's biggest crowd-funding site, refused to accept a film about convicted abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell unless descriptions of his crimes were removed." I guess they'd also refuse to make a film about Obama unless descriptions of Benghazi, the IRS scandal, the NSA scandal, Obamacare insurance cancellations, and other outrages were removed. Hey, what a great idea...!

Speaking of delusional, Hank Aaron is doing a Harry Reid and attacking those of us who disagree with The Messiah:  "Baseball Hall of Famer Hank Aaron compared Republicans that oppose President Barack Obama to the Ku Klux Klan."  When all else fails, just call us racists.  Thank you, Hank, for making us forget your baseball accomplishments.

I miss Richard Nixon.

"You Don't Want To Go There, Buddy"

That clever line was uttered by our Attorney General, Eric Holder,  to Congressman Louie Gohmert, and I think that just about sums up the attitude of this administration, as well as that of the press. As long as you're a Democrat, nobody wants to go there.

Doesn't it??  "The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) reports that Egyptian columnist Ahmad Al-Gamal has called on his government to sue Israel for damages resulting from the 10 plagues. Yep, those 10 plagues—the ones allegedly wrought by God, in the Bible, thousands of years ago."

In Limbo

It's really hard to believe, and it's extremely sad, that we're still talking about Malaysian Airlines flight 370 without a shred of evidence having been found yet, despite all the searching and all the technology. What if the plane isn't even in the water?

Politically Correct Intimidation

There's something very wrong when being for real marriage is now considered grounds for dismissal!  It was spineless of the Mozilla CEO to have caved in to a PC minority and resigned. He could have stood up to political correctness and fought back, but instead, he's made intimidation acceptable. Now, thanks to the "new normal" being rammed down our throats, more people than ever will be afraid to speak up while our culture is turned upside down.

Workplace Violence, Part 2

You hear "Fort Hood", and you immediately think "another terrorist rampage." It's a horrible thing that our military personnel are sitting ducks even here at home, and especially after the 2009 massacre! I'm glad the murderer is dead, but what happens now?

Laugh? I Never Thought I'd Start!

There's something wrong when a 54 year-old woman's idea of an April Fool's "prank" is making a call reporting a campus shooting spree. I'm glad she was arrested, and I hope she loses her job on that very campus.

Trading Pollard For "Peace"

Ugh, what a despicable, embarrassing idea this is, trying to bribe Israel via Jonathan Pollard!  I agree with MK Danny Danon's good op-ed piece in Israel Hayom:

"Introducing the name 'Pollard' into the equation is a cynical, harmful attempt to exploit certain Jewish values, including the value of 'returning our sons to their land,' over others. For 29 years, Jonathan Pollard has languished in prison so the U.S. could teach its good friend in the Middle East a lesson. Our friend the U.S. is forcing us to try to complete an unfair equation: one prisoner for 426. One man, who paid his dues over dozens of years in prison, who is not a threat to society, for hundreds of menacing terrorists, several of whom committed murder or were complicit in the slaughter of hundreds of Israelis. We all want to see Pollard out of jail and in Israel, but not like this."

Read the entire column.
