COVID: "They're Old Anyway"

We heard the same sentiment in the United States, by antivaxxers:  "Boris Johnson agreed with some Tory MPs who thought Covid was 'nature's way of dealing with old people', the inquiry into the pandemic has been told.

How many times have we heard the same thing, that "they're old anyway" and that it didn't matter if they died of COVID?

Meanwhile, I see countless numbers of frail, elderly people going about unmasked, not vaccinated, as if they too have bought into this mentality.

Before it's too late, our CDC had better fix their useless messaging and get the word out there that our senior citizens are valuable and needed!

Jew-Hatred: Ancient, Acceptable, & Deadly

Here's a powerful column by Jeff Jacoby, as reprinted at Jewish World Review: "Why they rip down the 'Kidnapped from Israel' fliers."

His answer is simple, as all Jews already know: "What drives the people ripping down the posters or adding Hitler mustaches to the pictures is a pathological need to deny the humanity of those kidnapped Jews."

"Who, seeing such a display, would destroy or vandalize it? Some norms are so ingrained as to be all but inviolable. When someone puts up an image of a missing or murdered child, no decent person rips it down. But antisemitism has the power to override every norm and decent impulse".

They have always denied the humanity of all Jews, using words like "vermin" to describe us. All of us have been the victim of this, the only acceptable and politically correct hatred remaining.

But if they think we will just meekly take it without fighting back, they are dead wrong this time.

Alarming COVID News From Australia

We definitely want to avoid this scenario in the United States:

"Queensland Health sound alarm over spike in COVID transmission rates as hospitalisations double, new subvariant surfaces

"Health authorities have reminded Queenslanders to get their updated COVID booster shots, especially elderly and vulnerable people, amid a period of rapid transmission across the state."

"It was prompted after hospitals across the state saw an unusual admission rate of COVID-infected patients this week, with a total of 146 cases currently active compared to just half the number two weeks ago."

I remember when the COVID experts used to say that what happens in England and Australia will eventually happen in America.

In my trips to the supermarket, I am always amazed by the number of frail, elderly people who are not wearing masks.  These are breeding grounds for germs, but nobody seems to care.

And that's the problem, especially going into the holiday season with COVID, flu, and RSV all around.

When if ever will people wake up from their stupor and finally take viruses seriously?

American Antisemites = Hamas Propagandists

Pro-Hamas collaborators are not only professionals like bankersdoctors,  and members of Congress, they are also loud, spoiled brat "students" who somehow got into Ivy League colleges and don't deserve to be there. They probably learned their Jew-hatred at home and from social media, and since they have no other skills, they decided to spend their time marching, mobbing, bullying, and intimidating Jews.  They are providing free propaganda to Hamas, and you can bet Hamas is thrilled.

Look what's happening:

"Antisemitic posts targeted Jewish students at the Ithaca, New York-based Ivy League Cornell University this week, mentioning the local kosher dining hall, known as '104 West.'

Published under profile names such as 'hamas,'  'jew evil,' and 'kill jews,' the posts included phrases like 'shoot up the building' and  'eliminate Jewish living from Cornell campus.'”

This isn't free speech; it's terrorist threats and it's hate speech!  Kids and teachers have been castigated or suspended for "using the wrong pronouns" or displaying the Confederate flag, yet chasing down and threatening Jewish students is OK?

I believe that if Hitler were around today, these students would be cheering him on and blaming the Jews themselves for the Holocaust.

With professional hatemongers, it's always the Jews.

"Looking for Jews".. to Kill

Isn't this wonderful?

"Violent mob storms Russian airport 'looking for Jews'. The crowd surrounded a plane carrying Israelis in the remote province"

"A flight from Tel Aviv to Russia’s Dagestan Republic was forced to redirect on Sunday after pro-Hamas rioters stormed Makhachkala Uytash Airport, reportedly seeking to attack Israeli travellers.

"Hundreds of people overran the airport, located in the capital of the Muslim-majority region of southern Russia. Video footage showed rioters with Palestinian flags shouting 'Allahu Akbar' (God is great) as they searched the terminals for Israeli passengers.

"Other videos showed Muslim protesters stopping vehicles in the area to ask motorists if they were transporting tourists from the Jewish state.

"'We came for the Jews—to kill them with a knife and shoot them,' a rioter was quoted as saying."

 -------------------

The Biden Administration would probably blame the Jewish passengers with "Islamophobia".

Yes, it's the "religion of peace", alright!  How long will it be till these Jew-hunting mobs come here? Oh, wait...

I don't want to hear one more word about how we are "Islamophobic", about how the only answer is a two-state solution, and how there needs to be a ceasefire.  Rabid, violent antisemitism is out of the bag, and we'll never be able to put it back in.

"Never Again" is Now "Again and Again"

Excerpts from Jon Gabriel at azcentral:  "Here we go again, shrugging off the warning signs of antisemitism and what comes next.  Opinion: To those who condone violence against Jews, people of good conscience must say with conviction, 'Never again.'"

"Eighty years ago, antisemites wanted Jews out of Europe. Today, they want them out of Israel. Only the outfits have changed, replacing brown shirts with black masks."

"It’s no surprise college kids are the most prominent group of Hamas supporters. Bereft of life experience and accumulated wisdom, the Hitler-jugend often proved the most passionate supporters of the Third Reich. Their doting parents, many of whom never supported Dear Leader, often kept their silence, hoping it was just a phase that would pass.

"But now we know how this story ends. Parents need their Hamas-jugend to wise up, and fast. Never again.

"That phrase was a promise to future generations of Jews, but it was also a promise to their enemies. When they said those two words, they meant it."

"We must say 'never again,' again."

-------

It may be too late this  time.  Unlike with Hitler and the Germans, this time it seems like the entire world hates and wants to kill us Jews (just look at the 24/7 news coverage, the social media propaganda, and the anti-Israel bias.  There's less support, and I think we're on our own.

-----------------------------------------------------

Excerpts from David Harsanyi at The Federalist: "On Israel, Biden Picks Up Where Obama Left Off".

"Secretary of State Antony Blinken contends that Hamas would gain no 'greater' victory 'than allowing its brutality to send us down a path of terrorism and nihilism. We must not let it.'

"You can hear echoes of Barack Obama’s insufferable moral equivalencies imbued in that statement.

"The contention is a not-so-subtle warning to Israel, who will almost surely enter Gaza and try to dismantle the Hamas terror state — which has been indirectly and directly funded not only by Iran, the European Union, and the United Nations but also by the Obama and Biden administrations.

"The insinuation, of course, is that Israel needs to temper its inclination to engage in 'terrorism and nihilism.' It is a blood libel.

"It is not 'terrorism' to seek justice for the pregnant woman who had her baby cut from her body or the elderly couple who was burned alive. And eliminating those who committed Nazi-like atrocities against your citizens is no more nihilistic than tracking down Eichmann or demanding Emperor Hirohito unconditionally surrender.

"Yet, only days after the worst mass murder of Jews since the Holocaust, Biden was already lecturing Benjamin Netanyahu on how 'democracies like Israel and the United States are stronger and more secure when we act according to the rule of law.' The insinuation, again, is that there is something nefarious about winning a war against those who massacre your citizens."

The End of Common Sense

From Moonbattery:

50-Year-Old Man Swims Against 13-Year-Old Girls

"What a great time to be a middle-aged lecher attracted to pubescent girls. Just declare that you identify as one of them and you can join them in swimming competitions:

"A man named Nicholas J. Cepeda, who goes by 'Melody Wiseheart,' competed against young girls ages 13-17 at the Richmond Hill Aquatic Centre’s Fall Classic hosted at the Markham Pan Am Centre, near Toronto, Canada.

"Cepeda competed against nine other female swimmers, all of whom were 13 or 14 years old. Cepeda made a mockery of the 'Girls 13 & over' age requirement for the 200-meter competition, as he was both the only male competitor and the only swimmer in the entire event over 17 years old.

"Creepeda is 50 years old.

"Cepeda is also reportedly a professor at York University in the psychology department, under the moniker 'Dr. Melody Wiseheart.'"

---------

This insanity has to stop.

No, Cepeda did NOT compete against "nine other female swimmers". He is a man who competed against "nine female swimmers"!

When you're a 50 year old man, you should act your age. You are NOT a girl.  Go compete against other men, not against girls who of course you will humiliate.

What kind of people allow this to happen? How does a 50 year old MAN have the nerve to compete against young teen girls in the first place?  He should have been barred from entering. Or, the match should have been called off.

From now on, sad to say, I think organizers of such events will have to require birth certificates and prevent future such shameful, ridiculous examples of DEI and political correctness from happening.

Do You REALLY Want Long COVID?

Tara Cobham at The Independent has written about "The ‘wrecked’ lives of forgotten long Covid sufferers"

Those who claim that "COVID is over" ought to read about some of the people who have been suffering for years:

"Nearly four years since the start of the coronavirus outbreak, you could be forgiven for believing the pandemic is behind us. But for many, it feels far from over.

"Close to two million people face a daily battle with debilitating symptoms of long Covid – the lasting symptoms of the virus that remain after the infection is gone – with some now housebound, unable to walk and even partially blind.

And to make  matters worse,  "'In their words, they feel ‘forgotten, unheard, disbelieved, isolated, unemployed, disabled, immobile’. The emotional cost of dealing with little or no medical support is devastating,' said Dr House, who has long Covid, along with her husband, after both caught the virus from a neighbour they were helping in March 2020."

Do YOU want to live like that? Then get vaccinated, wear a mask, and protect yourself and others instead of selfishly risking lives!

Jew-Haters of America, Unite!

These despicable thugs are espousing not only antisemitism but downright violence, bullying and intimidation:

Look at this first: "'Never Again' Is Right Now as Missing Posters Are Defaced in NYC", where these Hamas-collaborators are slapping "Occupier" stickers over the posters of the hostages!

Now this story about the disgraceful event that will be occurring at 3pm today in New York:

UK Daily Mail: "Big Apple's largest Jewish community warned to be on guard by security sources ahead of pro-Palestinian protest in Brooklyn that will march through Orthodox community"

There's no reason to march in this particular area unless you are deliberately targeting Jews.

New York Post: "Pro-Palestine protesters plan to ‘flood’ Brooklyn — near Hasidic Jewish site: ‘The louder we will be’"

"A pro-Palestinian group is set to stage a 'louder'-than-ever march in front of the Brooklyn Museum on Saturday — just down the road from the Jewish Hasidic Lubavitcher headquarters.

Jittery NYPD cops are increasing their presence in the area, while a furious Jewish leader raged, 'We will not be intimidated.'

A flier posted to Instagram touting the protest by organizer Within Our Lifetimes warned, 'The more they try and silence us, the louder we will be.'

"'From across the city and around the world, across communities and national liberation struggles, united in defense of Gaza and all of Palestine, until liberation and return within our lifetime,' the posting said."

What next, marching through Skokie IL like the Neo-Nazis were going to do?  Those people were tame compared to these raving mobs.

As my grandfather would have said in Yiddish in response to these Hamas-supporters:

Gut zol oyf im onshikn fin di tsen makes di beste.
God should visit upon him the best of the Ten Plagues.

War Against The Jews

He is absolutely right:

Hatred of Israel cannot be distinguished from hatred of the Jewish people. Incontestably now, anti-Zionism is antisemitism.

"It wasn’t the rallies with “Keep the World Cleanposters and chants of “gas the Jews.” Nor was it the glorification of Hamas paragliders by the Chicago branch of Black Lives Matter or, in New York and London, the tearing down of posters with the faces of Israeli children held hostage by Hamas. Not even the off-the-charts uptick in antisemitic incidents in Germany (240 percent), the United States (nearly 400 percent), and London (1,353 percent) convinced me.

"It was, rather, one of those realizations that so many generations of Jews before me have experienced. A realization that they, like me, surely tried to push out of their minds until the reality became unmistakeable.

"This war is not simply between Hamas terrorists and Israelis. It is a war against the Jews.

"The insight began with the international media’s coverage of the conflict. Again, it wasn’t the press’s insistence on calling mass murderers “militants” or citing Hamas and its “Health Ministry” as a reliable source. For close to fifty years—as a student activist, a diplomat, a soldier, a government and military spokesman, and above all, as a historian—I’ve grappled with the media’s bias against Israel. I’ve long known that the terrorists are “militants” solely because their victims are Jews, and only in a conflict with Israel are terrorists considered credible.

"Instead, it was the media’s predictable switch from an Israel-empathetic to an Israel-demonizing narrative as the image of Palestinian suffering supplanted that of Israelis beheaded, dismembered, and burnt. It was the gnawing awareness that dead Jews buy us only so much sympathy.

"In fact, there is probably a formula. Six million dead in the Holocaust procured us roughly 25 years of grace before the Europeans refused to refuel the U.S. planes bringing lifesaving munitions to Israel during the Yom Kippur War in 1973. Fourteen hundred butchered Jews bought us a little less than two weeks’ worth of positive coverage.

"Europeans, it’s long been said, never forgave the Jews for the Holocaust. Their guilt was collective and their antisemitism no longer socially acceptable. What a relief many of them felt when it became de rigueur to call Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians Nazi-like. Similarly, haters of Israelis can’t forgive them for being massacred by Hamas terrorists on October 7, and were relieved when, on October 17, they could go back to vilifying the “colonial apartheid state.”

"October 17—that was the date of the al-Ahli Arab Hospital incident. Hamas claimed that an Israeli bomb hit the hospital and killed 500 civilians. Again, there was nothing new about Hamas blaming Israel for atrocities that never happened and counting as dead the many who didn’t die. What was unprecedented was the speed at which the world accepted this triple lie—not a hospital but its parking lot was struck by a Palestinian rocket, not an Israeli bomb, killing far fewer than 500. Nevertheless, reflexively, the world imputed evil to Israel.

Within hours of the al-Ahli bombing, both Israel and the United States revealed the truth behind it. Still, almost no one in the media apologized. A full week after the explosion, The New York Times was still bringing in “experts” to intimate Israel’s guilt. After all, the paper was subtly telling us, Israel is perfectly capable of bombing hospitals and, despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary, possibly bombed this one as well.

"What was previously an inkling became, October 17, an epiphany. It marked the moment when I finally peered behind the headlines and recognized their ancient, vicious, core. "

Dismal Numbers

COVID apathy continues even as we head into the holiday season. I just don't understand this kind of complacency.

"A new Covid variant has become dominant amid slow uptake of the updated shots

"The HV.1 variant took over this week as the dominant variant in the U.S., but just around 3.5 % of the population has received an updated Covid shot thus far.

"A new Covid variant has become dominant in the U.S., but relatively few people have thus far gotten the new shots that could offer some protection against it.

"The variant, called HV.1, replaced EG.5 as the country's most prevalent this week, according to data released Friday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

"The two variants are genetically similar versions of omicron.

"HV.1 makes up around 25% of Covid cases now, up from around 1% at the beginning of August. EG.5, meanwhile, represents nearly 22% of cases, down from 24% at the start of the month

"Both are descendants of the XBB variant. The updated Covid vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna, which became available last month, target a different XBB descendant, called XBB.1.5.

"But disease experts say the new shots should offer cross-protection against the currently dominant strains. Dr. Scott Roberts, an infectious disease specialist at Yale Medicine, said that although the vaccine is not a 'perfect match' for HV.1, 'it’s still a good match because it’s still within the same family of variant.'

"However, just around 3.5 % of the U.S. population — approximately 12 million people — have received the new Covid shots since they became available in mid-September, a CDC spokesperson said. He cautioned that the number is a rough estimate because states are no longer required to report vaccination numbers.

"'I hope uptick increases, but I’m pretty pessimistic,' Roberts said. 'I don’t think we’ll hit anywhere near the levels we had last year.'

"'The logistic complications certainly were not helpful, but I think that the low uptake is more than that. The low uptake reflects that most of the public is no longer concerned about Covid,' said Dr. Dan Barouch, director of the Center for Virology and Vaccine Research at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

"While the CDC recommends updated shots for everyone ages 6 months and up, Barouch said he’s particularly worried about low uptake among older adults and people who are immunosuppressed or have pre-existing medical issues.

"'What concerns me is not the overall low number of people getting boosted. What concerns me is the low frequency of high-risk people getting boosted,' he said."

Hunting Down Jews In America in 2023

This happened here in America, but it's reminiscent of Nazi Germany in the 1930s:and 40s:

* "Jewish students shelter in NY college library as demonstrators pound on doors, shout ‘free Palestine’"  "Jewish students at Cooper Union who say they were locked in the campus library during a pro-Palestinian protest were expected to demand the arrests of those who allegedly threatened them as criticism of the university’s response mounted Thursday. The group told reporters at news outlets it took 40 minutes for police to respond to the protesters. A rally was scheduled for Thursday afternoon outside the East Village college to demand the arrests. Videos widely shared on social media show student protesters banging on a reportedly locked door, as at least four students — some wearing traditional Jewish yarmulkes — sheltered inside."

These aren't snowflake liberals who need "safe spaces" from "microaggressions".  These are Jewish students afraid for their lives who remember the past.

Again, those chasing them aren't "demonstrators" or "protesters". These are pro-Hamas collaborators who are showing their hatred towards Jews and getting  away with it.

What's next, requiring us Jews to wear yellow stars? Boycotting Jewish stores?

I'd love to know where these pro-Hamas people acquired their antisemitism, but I'm guessing their parents and their professors are partly to blame.

They should be arrested, and they should be expelled from the colleges of hate.

Collaborators

These anti-Israel, pro-Hamas students in our schools should be referred to as collaborators, not protesters, because their words and actions are supporting and emboldening the enemy -- not only Hamas, but also Iran, Hezbollah, Al Qaeda, and ISIS.

Look at this obscenity:

"'Glory to our martyrs' projected on university campus by pro-Hamas group

"A group of students at a Washington DC university have sparked outrage after projecting messages praising Hamas terrorists on their campus library.

"Four students at George Washington University in the US capital projected messages that read "Glory to our martyrs", "Divestment from Zionist genocide now" and "Free Palestine from the river to the sea".

In case you don't know it, that phrase means "eradicate the state of Israel".

What kind of people take up space at college to support murderous terrorists? If they care so much about the "Palestinians", why don't they go over there and help them constructively to change their lives for the better?  Anyone who supports Hamas supports antisemitism.

Right now, their heroes are firing rockets into Tel Aviv, while Biden keeps telling Israel to delay the ground invasion into Gaza. If they delay indefinitely, there will be another October 7.

Funny, but I don't ever hear Biden telling Hamas not to fire rockets at Israel. He doesn't tell them to stop butchering and kidnapping babies and Holocaust survivors.

And he doesn't tell these American "students" to stop their hateful anti-Israel actions.

He also doesn't close the border to illegal aliens from the Middle East.  Will he wait for another terrorist attack on American soil before he does that, or not even then?

"On Track" for More COVID

"‘On track’: 3 percent of Americans have gotten the new Covid shot, but the CDC director remains confident; By contrast, 33 percent more people have had their flu shot.

"The Biden administration’s campaign to convince Americans to get an annual Covid shot is off to a very slow start.

Even so, the nation’s top disease-fighting official says the U.S. remains 'on track' to hit last year’s uptake levels, which crested at just 17 percent of the U.S. population."

If I were the CDC Director, I certainly wouldn't consider 3% to be "on track" on the way to  last year's dreadfully low 17% of Americans getting the COVID vaccine!

These numbers prove that the CDC needs more aggressive messaging and that Biden's "COVID is over" statement caused great harm.

Unfortunately, there's still no vaccine for COVID stupidity, and right now, we could sure use one of those.

Using The Nazi Playbook in 2023

The brazen antisemitism that has erupted all over the world since the Hamas slaughter of Israelis on October 7 continues to amaze and anger me.  I've always dealt with antisemitism in my lifetime, but I can't remember it ever being this loud and unapologetic.

It's as if October 7 was a signal for them to drop the veneer of decency and let loose all their stored-up Jew-hatred at once. To see this evil in America is disgusting and sad, and to see it from so many so-called "professionals" is even more astonishing.

I can't even imagine what Holocaust survivors in Israel, the United States, and around the world must be going through, the unending trauma for them. But these vile people don't care.

Here's a good column I saw by Yossi Klein Halevi titled  "Why is Israel being blamed for the Hamas massacre? Erasing the legitimacy of the Israeli narrative fundamentally revives a pernicious antisemitic trope that Jews deserve their fate."

"Blaming Jews for their own suffering is an indispensable part of the history of antisemitism. Whether as the Christ-killers of pre-Holocaust Christianity or as the race-defilers of Nazi Germany, Jews were perceived as deserving their fate. Invariably, those who target Jews believe they are responding to Jewish provocation.

"Blaming the massacre on the occupation is a fundamental misreading of the goal of Hamas. Hamas is not working for the creation of a Palestinian mini-state on the West Bank and Gaza, but for the destruction of Israel."

When I heard that Hamas was looking to use cynanide in weapons, all I could think of was Zyklon-B, and if there were still such a thing as gas chambers, Hamas would use them to exterminate the Jews and wipe Israel off the map. I have no doubt of that.

And anyone taking the side of Hamas and showing sympathy for the "Palestinians" are people you can't reason with.

We Jews have to stick together now more than ever.

"No Innocent Gazans"

I agree 100% with the sentiment in Jack Engelhard's 10/22/23 op-ed:

"There are no 'innocent' Gazans"

"I hope I don’t come across as being angry.

"For what Hamas did to my People, I guess it’s okay to be sad, horrified, dismayed…but not angry.

"As the Rebbe says, all other nations may fight to win, but only Jews must turn the other cheek. They must not be angry.

"That was Biden, appropriately providing military equipment to the Israelis, then by degrees, backtracking and backsliding.

"It didn’t take long for him to be reminded, by people like Chuck Schumer, that he is a Democrat, and that for Democrats, support for Israel is always conditional.

"Therefore, the Israelis, fighting for their very existence, may engage the enemy…sending in its finest sons into the trip-wired, booby-trapped jungle that is Hamas/Gaza…where what awaits them are thousands of savages…armed to the teeth…ambushes prepared house to house, corner to, corner …BUT, they must not do so in anger.

"Do not be blinded by rage, Biden warned the Israelis.

"They must do no harm to those “innocent civilians.”

"In time of war, what other nation gets conditions like this? Only Israel…and in all our US wars, millions of civilians died through collateral damage…because it was them or us.

"So it is, nation to nation.

"In rules of engagement, there is no prize for runner-up or second best, and the dead get no second chances.

"Innocent civilians?

"Those Gazans voted for Hamas. After every suicide bombing against Israeli civilians, they cheered and gave out candy…as they did after our 9/11.

"The surveys have them supporting Hamas 87 percent. The rest were too busy digging tunnels.

"There are no innocent Gazans.

"Not even 10 as in Sodom, which was destroyed by sulfur and fire when there was no righteousness to be found; only wickedness.

"How’s that for 'blinded by rage,' justified.

"Thus, every casualty in Gaza is the responsibility of Hamas and the assorted terrorists who turned lush greenery into garbage and terror cells.

"Hamas started this. Israel must finish this with justified Biblical ferocity.

"Did I hear this right?

"Biden is sending them $100 million.

"His heart bleeds for them who did this to us.

"No, he says, the money will be going to those innocent civilians…of which there are none.

"Not a chance that a jackpot like that will end up in the hands of Hamas. He is sure of this.

"If that sounds crazy, wait, there’s worse.

"He’s talking about a two-state solution up ahead.

"Now that…that is insanity.

"Somebody tell him that Sharon’s giving up Gaza WAS the two-state solution…and then this is what happens…. again and again and again.

"That’s the worst part of it all. People never learn."

Shaking Up The World (at Least Temporarily)

I like this article by Bari Weiss and Oliver Wiseman: A political reawakening? A mass emergence from the woke slumber.

"Call it a realignment, call it a political awakening, call it a vibe shift. Something has changed since the attacks on Israel.

"Here’s an example of what we mean: a friend, appalled at the equivocation and apologia in the West after the brutal Hamas killings, told one of us that he used to consider himself a  'conscientious objector' in the culture wars. 'Not anymore,' he said. October 7 changed that.

"Liberal friends were suddenly talking about buying guns. Progressive friends were texting about topics like border security and immigration. In a whisper, one even admitted to watching Fox News.

"If it’s clear that the last two weeks have been a wake-up call, the next question is: Why?

"Part of the answer is the sheer depravity of Hamas’s terrorism. That depravity has made the justification and celebration of their acts by those who police pronouns that much starker. The contradictions and moral bankruptcy of a worldview that spends years worrying about microaggressions and tone policing, but can’t decide what side it is on after the beheading of babies, aren’t exactly difficult to spot.

"To put it another way: when Black Lives Matter organizations are lionizing Islamist terrorists by posting a paraglider logo, you’d be a fool not to reassess things.

"As Konstantin Kisin writes in his powerful essay today in The Free Press: 'The events of the last week have shattered the illusion that wokeness is about protecting victims and standing up for persecuted minorities. This ideology is and has always been about the one thing many of us have told you it is about for years: power. And after the last two weeks, there can be no doubt about how these people will use any power they seize: they will seek to destroy, in any way they can, those who disagree.'

"The other aspect of it, we think, is the sense of how thin the line is between civilization and barbarism. And how the West, which so many take for granted, is more vulnerable than we ever imagined."

--------------

It'd be nice if the woke woke up permanently, but I haven't personally seen any evidence of that.  We Jews have always been awake. Any liberals who have temporarily woken up will soon be sleeping again when they no longer are forced to think about antisemitism.  And the comatose DEI crowd will continue with its usual politically correct obsessions as if nothing at all has happened.

Wake Up: COVID's Still Here

From David Axe at The Daily Beast: "COVID Is Ramping Up for a Year of Deadly Surges"

Here's an excerpt:

"COVID is back. But then, it never really left. And the respiratory disease’s late-summer resurgence might be a preview of an even bigger surge this winter.

"Experts say the latest bump in infections, hospitalizations, and deaths in the United States and other countries, in the fourth year of the novel coronavirus pandemic, was inevitable three years ago—when anti-science extremists all over the world began politicizing the then-brand-new vaccines.

"Vaccines that, with wide enough uptake, could’ve strangled COVID and ended the pandemic as early as 2021. Instead, vaccination rates in most countries stalled out well below the 90-percent threshold necessary to produce population-level immunity.

"Disinformation-fueled politics kept us from ending the pandemic two years ago. And it’s still preventing us from ending it today. 'We’re on an absolute collision course once again between public health messaging and politics,' said Irwin Redlener, the founding director of the National Center for Disaster Preparedness at Columbia University and an adjunct professor of pediatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx.

"That has left the planet with so-called 'hybrid immunity:' a blend of vaccine-induced antibodies and natural antibodies from past infection that’s got a fundamental flaw. Antibodies from vaccines fade fast. And as vax-rates continue to slide, bigger and bigger gaps open in humanity’s hybrid immunity. 'It is because this immunity also decays that we are observing resurgences,' said Edwin Michael, an epidemiologist at the Center for Global Health Infectious Disease Research at the University of South Florida who runs a complex simulation of COVID.

"It’s these gaps COVID has exploited these past couple of years—and will continue to exploit for at least another year, according to experts. 'The above pattern is also expected in 2024,'  Michael said. Meaning the recent surge in infections almost certainly won’t be the last.

"Many U.S. states don’t track COVID cases anymore, eliminating a major source of data that experts use to track trends as the disease spreads and evolves. But wastewater surveillance—basically, sampling sewage in order to measure the concentration of the virus—indicates the summer surge in the United States began in mid-July.

"Over the next six weeks, the average concentration of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in American sewage spiked from 165 copies to 638—a fourfold increase. The spread has plateaued in recent weeks, hinting at a slowdown in transmission of the disease.

"But hospitalizations lag behind infections, as it can take days or weeks for an infection to become life-threatening. The first week of September, weekly COVID hospitalizations spiked to 20,500 in the U.S.—a threefold increase over the most recent low, back in mid-June. COVID deaths in the U.S. likewise spiked in early September, peaking at more than a thousand per week. That’s double the June death rate."

--------

And despite all this, and what we've already endured, there are fewer people now taking precautions. I am seeing fewer masks -- and fewer "Masks required" signs -- even  in medical offices.  Fewer people are getting vaccinated and boosted.  It looks to me as if people have just stopped caring about COVID.

Dr Ruth's Newsletter for 10/21/23

Here's Dr. Ruth Ann Crystal's latest newsletter, COVID news and more 10/21/23. I'm always happy to see this information when so many people have chosen to ignore COVID completely.

Here's an excerpt:

"COVID hospitalizations, Emergency Department visits and deaths are all on the decline in the U.S. this week. Emergency departments are just starting to see small increases in RSV and influenza. Wastewater monitoring shows that there are high levels of SARS-2 in the northeast, including New York state, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and parts of Maine, but overall levels are dropping. On Biobot, the midwest has been showing a few ups and downs in SARS-CoV-2 virus levels in the last weeks.

Variants

HV.1 is the fastest growing variant in the US again this week. HV.1 (EG.5+L452R) is an EG.5 variant with an added L452R mutation. The fall XBB.1.5 COVID vaccines should work against HV.1 which is good news. We are just starting to see the appearance of HK.3 in the US. HK.3 has a FLip mutation and is growing quickly in Singapore and China.

JN.1 (Pirola BA.2.86+L455S) is the Pirola variant with an L455S mutation that helps it evade neutralizing antibodies better."

The Antisemitic Curtain Opens to Reveal Cruel, Evil Americans Cheering Their Hamas Heroes

Well, the curtain has been opened, and the full extent of antisemitism in America is on full, brazen display.   Besides the rage-filled faces of the anti-Israel students on campus, there are plenty of so-called professionals (executives, doctors, lawyers) who are rightly being fired for their despicable anti-Jewish remarks. To my surprise, many of them have been women.  They have picked up their hatred at home and in school, and the October attack on Israel just brought these people out of the woodwork.

Here's just one example: "An attorney serving in the Illinois state Comptroller’s Office has been fired for an antisemitic tirade in which she told a Jewish person that she wanted them to face the gas chamber and said, 'Hitler should have eradicated all of you.'  Sarah Chowdhury referred to Jews as 'vermin' and said 'all Zionists should pay' in private messages with an Instagram account called Big Law Boiz."

These people would have made perfect Nazis, even using the same language they employed when referring to Jews.   But one thing the Nazis lacked was social media, and now,  Jew-hatred is even more widespread and vile than ever.

Obviously, these antisemites are too busy celebrating "Palestinians" and attacking Israel to care about the cruel methods their Hamas heroes have employed when exterminating Jews:

"Hundreds of dead people in Israel are still unidentifiable because of what Hamas terrorists did to their bodies. Video and images slowly being released by Israel show torture and abuse of Israeli living and dead during the initial Hamas attack, including a deceased victim having poles shoved deep into his eye sockets."

Every Jewish person who grew up hearing and reading about the Holocaust know similar stories and know them to be true.  We all grew up being the target of name-calling and threats.  And I have no doubt that if Hamas had gas chambers, they would use them.

Remember: don't be afraid of, and cowed by, political correctness and DEI to keep from speaking out about antisemitism!

A Slogan the CDC Should Use!

This is from an opinion piece by Doug Collins at CFJC Today in Kamloops, British Columbia (the emphasis is my own):

"Sorry, but there's no easier way to put this.

"With COVID rearing its ugly head again, and mask mandates coming back into prominence, we will, if we haven’t already, see increased protests from those 'antis' who believe the masks and the vaccines are useless.

"I’m sure not the expert to tell them they’re wrong. I believe them to be wrong — but when I see trusted friends, nurses and some physicians arguing against the shots and masks, I have to wonder 'truth, conspiracy theory, or a combination of both?'  I don’t have a definitive answer.

"But I do have an answer. And it’s simple. Get the shot, quit whining — and wear the damn mask! Don’t put your pettiness ahead of the health of others."

I love this guy!  That last paragraph says it all.  Now why hasn't the CDC borrowed that line?

Shrugging Off COVID

From the UK Guardian:  Can we now treat Covid like a cold and is UK still tracking numbers?  How worried should we be about Covid these days, and what should we do if we develop symptoms?

"As we head into another winter, Covid numbers have been ticking up. But how worried should we be about Covid these days – can we treat it like a cold, or have we become blase about an illness that could still pose a threat to elderly and clinically vulnerable people?"

Yes, people have become completely apathetic towards COVID. People except for the elderly, those with chronic illnesses, and those who just want to protect themselves and from loved ones from getting COVID and dealing with its damage.

"The prospect of a new variant causing a dramatic resurgence may be receding but scientists remain alert to this possibility and continue to monitor the emergence of new strains – although England has dropped its wastewater surveillance programme. 'It’s a confusing time,” said Prof Danny Altmann, an immunologist at Imperial College London. “If you live in my world, where you’re still looking at sequences of viruses, we’ve still got our guard up. But nobody has the stomach for that fight any more.'"

Read those last 2 sentences again. That's the whole problem with the lack of response to COVID.

I dread to think what this winter will bring.

Mentioning Antisemitism & "Islamophobia" in The Same Breath

It was disgusting and yet unsurprising that in Biden's speech last night when discussing aid to Israel and Ukraine, he just couldn't help  himself from mentioning "Islamophobia" while condemning antisemitism.

Doesn't he know yet that the only reasons that we hate Muslims is because of antisemitism?  Antisemitism is the world's oldest hatred -- and the one that seems to be tolerated and explained away the most often.

"Islamophobia" is supposedly an irrational fear or hatred of Islam/Muslims.  When Muslims cheer the terrorist attacks on Israel on October 7 and celebrate the terrorist attacks on September 11 (or further back, the attacks on the USS Cole, the Khobar Towers, and the Marine Barracks in Lebanon), then yes, we have a rational reason to hate and fear Islam.

Stop killing Jews and Westerners, and we may be able to treat you as friends. Unfortunately, you haven't given us any reason  to do so.

And now, we have to contend with the antisemitic "Squad" in our Congress; we have CA students carrying out Pro-palestinian demonstrations based on media lies that Israel attacked a Gaza hospital; Jewish students afraid after pro-Palestinian rallies at American college campuses; "Hitler was right" and "Gas the Jews" signs at despicable worldwide rallies;  a "glamorous" Citibank employee fired after antisemitic posts;  an Atlanta cancer doctor fired after antisemitic posts; and on and on it goes.

And you attack us for "Islamophobia"?

Help Others by Getting Vaccinated!

Do you really want your emergency rooms to look like this again?

From Rochester, NY:  Flu, COVID and RSV on the rise, doctors ask community for help

"If you’ve been sick lately, you’re not alone. Outpatient visits to doctor’s offices are up across the area and it’s respiratory illnesses that are on the rise. On Wednesday, the top doctors in our region gathered to encourage the community to protect themselves to try and avoid overcrowding our already overcrowded hospitals.

"'When they’re all circulating at once, as they did last year, they can place a very significant strain on our community,' says Dr. Michael Mendoza, the Monroe County Health Commissioner.

"Quite frankly, at the moment… our hospitals can’t take it.

"'The healthcare systems remain extremely stressed with patients. Strong Memorial Hospital and Highland Hospital remain consistently over 100% occupied and this leads to very long wait times in our emergency rooms and it’s frustrating not only for our patients, but for our staff and faculty trying to take care of patients,' says Dr. Michael Apostolakos, the Chief Medical Officer at URMC.

....

"At this point, for the sake of space and each other, these doctors are asking you to consider a fresh round of vaccines for Flu, COVID and RSV (if you’re over the age of 60).

"'We want to get together, we want to have Bills games and gatherings and tailgating with our families and when push comes to shove, we all want to do so safely.  So, I understand people are tired about talking about these things, but we just don’t have the luxury of burying our heads in the sand and hoping it goes away,. Dr. Mendoza says."

Exactly! So stay home when you're sick, wear a mask instead of coughing in other people's faces, and get your vaccines.

A Reminder to Biden: Israel is Not The Aggressor

I wish Biden would stop giving unwanted advice, and I hope Israel doesn't listen.

From CNN:  "US leaders are mounting an urgent effort to prevent Israel’s war against Hamas and a resulting civilian catastrophe in Gaza from escalating into a widening regional conflict that could snowball into an even greater geopolitical crisis after this month’s horrific attacks.

"As a second US aircraft carrier strike group steams to the region, President Joe Biden told  '60 Minutes' that he has Israel’s back as it avenges its darkest day in 50 years – and as he focuses on the plight of Americans among the more than 150 people taken hostage during the Hamas incursion. But he also said, again, that it would be 'a big mistake' for Israel to occupy Gaza and called for a return to a negotiation toward a Palestinian state. "

"Prevent Israel's war against Hamas"?!  Israel didn't start any war on Hamas! Israel was attacked by Hamas, and civilians were slaughtered by Hamas -- remember?

If anything, American should be preventing the Hamas and Hezbollah war against Israel!

After Pearl Harbor,  would Biden have told the United States to prevent war against Japan?

Biden "has Israel's back" only until the 2024 election, then he'll put even more pressure on Israel to make concessions to the enemy. A Palestinian state, after this?!  Let's make sure that doesn't happen.

Biden: Subsidizing Terrorism and Lecturing Israel

From the Washington Post: "Biden announces deal with Israel to allow humanitarian assistance from Egypt into Gaza and $100 million in U.S. aid to Palestinians. In Israel, President Biden also said he would ask Congress this week for an  'unprecedented' aid package to Israel. 'Justice must be done,' Biden told Israelis. 'But I caution this: While you feel that rage, don’t be consumed by it.'”

Well, if Biden really wanted to help Israel, he should have cut off aid to the "Palestinians", since any aid goes right to Hamas and their supporters.

And he ought to stop lecturing Israel and Jews on how we should feel.  He needs reminding that Israel was brutally attacked, and Israel is responding to that attack.

The only people "consumed by rage" are Hamas, other Muslim terrorists like Hezbollah, ISIS, and Al Qaeda; and their supporters in America and all over the world who want to exterminate the Jews and eradicate Israel from the map.

Hamas Hospital Hoax

I've had the TV off all day, but when I heard about the rocket attack on the Gaza hospital, I immediately and instinctively said, "It's Hamas or Iran".  Everyone who knows Israel knows that Israelis and Jews are incapable of deliberately targeting hospitals and civilians. But Hamas and other barbaric Islamic terrorists have no such qualms, using their own people as human shields, and the long wait for the Israeli ground invasion of Gaza gave these savages the time to come up with a plan.

What better way to bring on a "pause" or a ceasefire than to attack your own hospital, kill your own people, and then blame Israel for the deaths?  And just when Biden was supposed to arrive, too! Amazing!

I wouldn't wish a deliberate attack on hospitals in any war. But to blame Israel for this?  Beyond the pale, and just plain evil.

Israel, Stay Strong! Don't Cave to U.S Pressure

A sentiment I agree with totally, from the always reliable Carolina Glick:  "Biden turns against Israel, Netanyahu must stand strong; If Netanyahu fails to stand up to the United States, if he buckles, the pressure from Washington won’t stop."

Every time Hamas attacks Israel and Israel reacts, the Biden and Obama administrations would automatically advise a halt, a pause, a ceasefire.  Their responses were always  predictable, like the United Nations' automatic condemnations over the years.  I would wonder how long it would take each time.

Here's her column. The emphasis is mine.

-------------

(October 16, 2023 / JNS)

"On Sunday, U.S. President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan all announced that the United States expects Israel to permit 'humanitarian aid' into Gaza.

"The implications of this position are devastating for Israel. According to reports, there are 'hundreds of trucks' lined up on the border in Egypt to enter the Gaza Strip carrying so-called 'humanitarian aid.' These trucks, if permitted to enter, will not be inspected in any significant way. There is no reason to believe they are carrying baby formula and foodstuffs that will be delivered to the needy. There is every reason to believe they are carrying war materiel and jihadist fighters who have arrived to augment Hamas.

"To the extent that there is food in the trucks, who will it feed? The hostages? The infirm? Who will the medicine be delivered to? The hostages? Will the fuel in the trucks be used in refrigerators to feed the captive Israelis?

"Of course not.

"Hamas is Gaza. All the 'ministries' in Gaza are Hamas. All hospitals are Hamas. Hamas’s military headquarters is located under Shifa Hospital.

"So whatever and whoever is in the trucks carrying 'humanitarian aid,' all of it will be delivered to Hamas and will be distributed to benefit Hamas.

"The idea that it could be otherwise is absurd. And the fact that the Biden administration is arguing this absurdity is an outrage.

"Even if the 'hundreds of trucks' are completely empty—and they manifestly are not—the trucks themselves are instruments of war. Their presence in Gaza will also advance Hamas’s military effort against Israel. They will augment Hamas’s capacity to kill and wound untold numbers of IDF soldiers now poised at the border waiting for the Netanyahu government to finally order them to enter Gaza.

"Biden, Blinken and Sullivan, like their counterparts in Europe and the United Nations, insist that they want to give Hamas the trucks to avert a humanitarian disaster in Gaza. But their position is actually devastating for Gaza’s civilians.

"By barring civilians from escaping Gaza to its territory, even for the purpose of transiting to third countries, Egypt is collaborating in Hamas’s war effort. By enabling Egypt to maintain its position, and demanding that Israel allow Hamas to resupply while calling that resupply 'humanitarian aid,' the Biden administration is trapping the civilians of Gaza it claims to care about protecting. They will remain under Hamas’s jackboot. They will remain its human shields and cannon fodder.

"Similarly, the United States is providing material support for Hamas’s propaganda campaign blaming Israel for the carnage of which Hamas is the sole author—in Israel and Gaza alike.

"The United States is also acting in breach of binding international law. As professor Avi Bell of the Bar Ilan University and University of San Diego law schools explained in an interview on 'The Caroline Glick Show' on Sunday, while Biden and his aides have insisted repeatedly that they expect Israel to respect the international laws of war in its prosecution of its war effort against Hamas, the administration’s positions in relation to that war are illegal.

"Following the Sept. 11, 2001 jihadist attacks on the United States, the United Nations Security Council passed resolution 1373 under Chapter 7 of the U.N. Charter. Chapter 7 resolutions, unlike others, are binding on all U.N. member nations.

"Resolution 1373 stipulates that all U.N. member nations must 'Refrain from providing any form of support, active or passive, to entities or persons involved in terrorist acts.'

"Any provision of any aid to Gaza, which is completely controlled by Hamas, is of course either 'active or passive' assistance to Hamas, and hence illegal.

"Resolution 1373 also requires all U.N. member states to 'Deny safe haven to those who finance, plan, support or commit terrorist acts, or provide safe havens.'

"Following Blinken’s visits to Israel last Thursday, he traveled to Qatar. Qatar houses Hamas’s top terror masters. They planned their atrocities from Qatar. Iran’s cash and arms are funneled to Hamas through Qatar. Qatar’s Al Jazeera satellite channel is an integral component of Hamas’s terror machine. On Monday morning, the IDF announced that Al Jazeera reporters are transferring information about IDF troop placements and numbers to Hamas both directly and through their broadcasts.

"Qatar is Hamas.

"Rather than designate Qatar officially as a state sponsor of terrorism, last Friday Blinken embraced Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassin Al Thani as an ally. And that makes sense, because from the administration’s perspective, Hamas’s host is a U.S. ally. Shortly after entering office, the Biden administration designated Qatar a major non-NATO ally—the same designation Israel enjoys.

"By embracing Qatar as an ally rather than punishing it for its central role at all levels of Hamas’s terror infrastructure, the administration is breaching international law, yet again. It is also betraying Israel.

"In his interview with 60 Minutes, Biden said that the United States opposes Israel’s war goal of obliterating Hamas and destroying its capacity to govern in any way in Gaza. Instead, Biden drew an obscene, imaginary distinction between Hamas and 'extreme elements in Hamas'.

"Biden also endorsed the idea that Israel should knock down Hamas a few notches, but not conquer Gaza. Instead, he intimated that the PLO-controlled Palestinian Authority, which supports Hamas and is serving as its foreign ministry at the United Nations and in world capitals, should rule Gaza.

"As a superpower, the United States is in a position to side with Israel and Hamas simultaneously. And that is clearly the Biden administration’s current policy. The administration’s goal, apparently, is to block Israel from winning and force it to fight to a draw—in the best-case scenario. This is perfect for Hamas, which would survive, and with its friends in the United States, the United Nations, Iran, Qatar and throughout the Arab and Western world, rebuild itself stronger than ever.

"For Israel, it would be a calamity of biblical proportions. Alone in the world, and treated infamously by its ostensible U.S. ally, Israel would emerge from the war with its regional position in tatters. The peace with Egypt and Jordan would likely not long survive. The Abraham Accords would be undone. And the very notion of normalization of ties with Saudi Arabia would be pushed down the memory hole. Iran would stand as the regional superpower, and within months could be expected to test a nuclear weapon. Israel’s future, in short, would be bleak.

"On the face of things, with the Israeli public now united behind the goal of eradicating Hamas, the administration’s position should be impossible to sell to the people of Israel. Apparently recognizing this state of affairs, during his brief visit to Israel on Oct. 12, Blinken made a point of meeting with the Brothers in Arms paramilitary organization. Until the war, Brothers in Arms was a shock force comprising the backbone of the anti-government riots. Its members routinely assaulted government ministers and Knesset members from Netanyahu’s governing coalition as well as academics, businessmen and journalists who support the Netanyahu government. Brothers in Arms worked to undermine the readiness of the IDF by calling for members of key reserve units, first and foremost Air Force pilots, to refuse to serve under the Netanyahu government.

"Since the atrocities of Oct. 7, with the support of its billionaire funders, Brothers in Arms has launched an extraordinary, massive civilian assistance campaign for the south, second to none in the national war effort. Its operation has won it the legitimate plaudits from all sectors of Israeli society.

"All the same, Blinken’s visit to their aid operation was a signal to Netanyahu. Likewise regarding his decision to meet with opposition Leader Yair Lapid during his visit on Monday. To wit, if Netanyahu fails to bow to the administration’s pressure to save Hamas, the administration will turn to the likes of Brothers in Arms and Lapid to undermine the internal stability and cohesion of Israeli society once again, this time at the height of the ground operation in Gaza.

"Netanyahu, hobbled politically by the assault, may be living through his final days as national leader. Even many of his most fervent supporters are intimating that he may be forced to resign when the war has ended. Whether Netanyahu sees the end before him, or believes he will be able to stay in power once the war is over, his future and his legacy are now on the line.

"If Netanyahu stands up to the United States, he may face a renewal of the violent protests against him and his government. If it happens, the goal of the operatives organizing the protests will be to undermine morale in time of war. Judging by media coverage to date, the rioters will be supported by nearly every media organ in the country.

"On the other hand, if he stands up to Biden, Netanyahu will give the soldiers and commanders of the IDF the opportunity to fight this war to victory and secure Israel for the next many years.

"If Netanyahu fails to stand up to the United States, if he buckles, the pressure from Washington won’t stop. By buckling he will merely whet appetites of the likes of U.S. envoy to the Palestinians Hady Amr—who has a public record of supporting Hamas (and worked in Doha, Qatar during the Trump years). Amr and his colleagues will pocket Israel’s first concession and demand more, and more, and more, in coordination with Hamas, the PLO, Qatar and Egypt.

"Following the war, Netanyahu will be pushed out of office, his legacy in tatters forever. The Israel he will leave behind will be one where Jewish sovereignty will be placed in doubt for the first time in 75 years. Now is no time to go wobbly."

Continuing the Pretense That COVID Is Over

George Monbiot at the UK Guardian has an excellent opinion piece that sounds more like commonsense fact to me.  It's titled Covid deaths are on the rise again, so what happens? Mask-wearing in hospitals is scrapped; The only masking that’s going on is that of the government’s continued failure to get to grips with the virus.

Sounds like the U.S. government response as well.

"For some people, going to hospital may now be more dangerous than staying at home untreated. Many clinically vulnerable people fear, sometimes with good reason, that a visit to hospital or the doctors’ surgery could be the end of them. Of course, there have always been dangers where sick people gather. But, until now, health services have sought to minimise them. Astonishingly, this is often no longer the case.

"Across the UK, over the past two years, the NHS has been standing down even the most basic precautions against Covid-19. For example, staff in many surgeries and hospitals are no longer required to wear face masks in most clinical settings. Reassuring posters have appeared even in cancer wards, where patients might be severely immunocompromised. A notice, photographed and posted on social media last week, tells people that while they are “no longer required to wear a mask in this area”, they should use hand sanitiser “to protect our vulnerable patients, visitors and our staff”. Sanitising is good practice. But Covid-19 is an airborne virus, which spreads further and faster by exhalation than by touch.

"The story this policy tells, which the government would have us believe, is that Covid-19 is all but over. It’s not true. Despite a collapse in testing, which means the figures will be grossly understated, the number of death certificates giving Covid-19 as a cause has been climbing steadily as autumn approaches, rising from 80 per week in early August to 306 in late September. Who knows what the real number may be?

"Forget it, be happy, keep shopping: if you don’t live and work as though the virus has vanished, you’re holding the country back. There could scarcely be a more powerful symbol of the all-clear than doctors and nurses greeting their patients without masks.

"When we forget the virus, we forget the clinically vulnerable people – an estimated 2.2 million in the UK – trapped by our insouciance. Some can scarcely leave their homes, as the danger to them of infection is so great. They are the shadow that falls across the sunny story the government tells, a shadow that must be ignored and denied.

"But unmasking isn’t the end of it. Testing for Covid-19 in hospitals has also been largely curtailed. As the Observer revealed, clinical staff in some places are being discouraged from testing themselves. If they want a test, they must buy it. Why would hospitals want less information about infection?

"Now we discover that the government is stockpiling vaccines rather than deploying them. It’s senseless for two reasons. First, because it should be maximising protection before the full autumn surge begins; second, because by the time they’re used, new mutations could render them worthless.

"Bad enough? Oh no. Current government guidance advises staff who think they’re infected to stay at home, but only if they “have a high temperature or do not feel well enough to go to work”. Even then, they’re not required to take a test. If they feel well enough to work, it seems, they’re welcome to spread it around.

"The same advice has been issued by the government to schools: “If your child has mild symptoms such as a runny nose, sore throat or mild cough, and they feel well enough, they can go to school or childcare.” Were you to devise a formula for spreading the disease as far and wide as possible, you could scarcely do better than this.

"We know how to minimise infection: ventilation, air filtration and germicidal ultraviolet light in indoor public spaces; N95 masks and Covid tests provided free to those who want them; mask mandates in clinical settings; vaccines that are widely available and up to date; proper support for workers and for the parents of children who test positive, so they can stay at home without losing their income.

"There’s plenty of masking going on, but not the kind that prevents infection. The government is masking its failure to get to grips with this virus. It’s masking the fact that, thanks to three years of such failures, Covid-19 is now a constantly evolving endemic infection likely to kill or disable many thousands every winter. It’s masking the ableism its rhetoric has encouraged: the othering and blaming of those who contract the disease, driven by the widespread but wholly mistaken belief that fit and healthy people don’t catch it. It’s masking the cruelty of a system that shuts down the lives of clinically vulnerable people.

"These facts – and these people – are treated as social embarrassments, locked in the government’s moral attic like a relative with a mental illness in Victorian England. They’re the country’s family secret. That coughing noise upstairs? Nothing that need concern you."

Dr. Ruth's Newsletter for 10/14/23

Here's Dr Ruth Ann Crystal's latest newsletter, COVID news and more 10/14/23.  She always provides a lot of helpful information in each issue.

Here's one example:

"There have been at least 4 studies showing an increased risk of autoimmune disorders after COVID infection. A new study from Korea looking at 355,000 people who had COVID compared to 6.1 million people who did not showed that those who had COVID had 12% to 74% higher odds for different types of alopecia (major hair loss either in patches or complete hair loss), a 3-fold increased risk for a type of vasculitis (antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody–associated vasculitis), 68% higher odds for Crohn's disease and 59% higher chance of Sarcoidosis. The severity of the COVID infection, as well as being unvaccinated, increased the odds of developing these autoimmune diseases."

So if you already have an autoimmune disease and would rather not risk getting another one, stay vigilant against COVID, get vaccinated, and wear a good KN95 or N95 mask.

Gaza Refugees To The U.S.? You Have Got To Be Kidding!

This takes the case for incredible gall and nerve, especially after the barbaric massacre of Jewish adults and children in Israel on October 7 and the vile anti-Jewish protests in our country since then!  Bowman has the nerve to use the "children" card all of a sudden. The answer should be an unqualified "absolutely not!"

The 1 million Gaza refugees should be sent to other Middle Eastern countries - not here. Not to the West. Not to The Great Satan The United States, a country they hate, full of the Jews they hate.

I don't even want any of the endless non-Gaza illegal aliens who come pouring into my country, and I certainly don't want any Jew-hating "Palestinians" here that we will also be forced to support.

No thanks!

Progressives call for US to take in some of the expected 1 million Gaza refugees

"Experts predict a million refugees might flee the Gaza Strip amid the war between Israel and Hamas, and socialists and far-left lawmakers said America should welcome them.

"'Fifty percent of the population in Gaza are children. The international community as well as the United States should be prepared to welcome refugees from Palestine while being very careful to vet and not allow members of Hamas,'  said Rep. Jamaal Bowman, a New York member of the Socialist-Democratic 'Squad''  who remains under investigation for pulling a fire alarm in the House Cannon Office Building earlier this month.

"But Republicans have already slammed the door shut on the issue.

"Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Rick Scott (R-Fla.) said they would oppose Palestinian resettlement efforts here.

"'The U.S. is the most generous nation in the world, but we are in no position to accept additional refugees, especially from a region with as high a risk of terrorism, given our nation’s inability to secure our own border or vet those who are already here,'  Rubio told The Post.

"Scott added that 'the entire focus of the United States right now should be on rescuing American hostages, and making sure that Israel has every resource needed to defeat Iran backed-Hamas and defend its homeland.'"

Let's hope they stick to their guns!

The Difference Between Hamas & Other Islamic Terrorists, and The Jewish People

In case you still think that Israel is being too cruel to poor Hamas and the "Palestinians" (a word that first came into vogue with Arafat & the PLO terrorist group), read this article from the Jerusalem Post:

"Hamas top secret documents reveal plan to massacre, kidnap children."

"American news broadcaster NBC published documents on Saturday recovered from Hamas terrorists killed in southern Israel that show detailed plans to target children and young people from Sa'ad, a religious kibbutz in the Negev desert.

"The documents included everything from maps specifying the location of kindergartens and schools, plans for how many to kill and take hostage, as well as detailed escape plans. Although schools in Israel are closed on Saturdays, many Israeli children play in the basketball or soccer courts at the schools.

"The documents labeled 'top secret' were given to NBC reporters by Israeli first responders."

 -----------------------------------------

One of the many differences between Hamas and the Jewish people is that Hamas kidnaps, tortures, burns, beheads, and murders babies and children -- innocent children who have done nothing to deserve such treatment. Hamas uses their own civilians and children as human shields and keeps them in poverty so their supporters can complain about how badly they are being treated -- by Israel!

The Jews, on the other hand, will to do anything for their children, while Hamas will do anything TO Israeli children.  Jewish parents love and cherish their children, protect them and keep them safe, even at the cost of their own lives, like the parents who hid their twins from the Hamas murder rampage before they themselves were slaughtered. During the Holocaust too, the mothers would hide their children from the Nazis, throw them from the cattle cars on the way to the gas chambers, sacrifice their own lives for their children's lives.  I have read testimonies from Holocaust survivors, and what they described then is what is happening now. I have no doubt that if Hamas had gas chambers, they wouldn't hesitate to use them.

Jews also don't raise their kids to hate Palestinians, despite the fact that Israelis live every minute on alert.

Anyone on American college campuses who are cheering the Hamas-led genocide and attacking Israel & the Jews must be part of a death cult, and I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear how many of the vile female antisemites have actually have had, or support, abortions.

If these frenzied haters are so worried about Palestinian lives, let them go to the Middle East to try to make their lives better -- without depending on Hamas; and without teaching them to hate Jews, to kill babies, and to wipe Israel off the map. We'd all like to see that.

The Jew-Killing, Jew-Hating Borg Collective

Isn't it a shame it took the unprovoked terrorist attack on  Israel and the violent slaughter and kidnapping  of innocent Jews to wake some people up to the evils of Islam and to the constant presence of anti-semitism?

Jew-hatred has always been there. But now, this latest Hamas pogrom has unleashed the blatant hatred all over the world. Not hatred towards the Islamic terrorists, but open hatred and death celebrations towards Jews, the victims!

If they were called Nazis rather than Hamas or "Palestinians", wouldn't you revile them rather than cheer them? Or maybe not.

Even Hitler in his wildest dreams could not have imagined citizens in every Western country chanting "Kill the Jews" and "Gas the Jews" in the year 2024. It's as if the Nazis and their appeasers have been asleep since 1945 and have just been awoken by the pogrom.  These are also referred to as sleeper cells.

When I see the group photos of college students on so many campuses with signs and filthy chants, you wonder what kind of an education they are getting. Did they get this hateful indoctrination at school or at home? And are their parents happy or angry that their brats are using their tuition money this way?

As for Biden: can you please close the border now?  As of millions of illegal aliens pouring in isn't enough, what about the Muslim terrorists who have undoubtedly already come here to kill us?  Are what about Palestinians who may just have the nerve to claim asylum here?  I don't want more Rashida Tlaibs and more suicide bombers in our country now or ever. And we Jews will feel even less safe with them in our midst -- or don't we matter at all?

Why You Need the Updated COVID Vaccine

In an opinion piece at STAT, Jennifer Beam Dowd tells you why you should get the vaccine:

"Yes, everyone should get an updated Covid-19 vaccine".

"Updated Covid vaccinations for all makes sense for eight key reasons:

1.) There is little downside. The vaccines are extremely safe
2.) It’s not obvious who is high-risk. Universal recommendations are simpler and likely increase uptake in the most vulnerable.
3.) Covid vaccines protect against Covid. I don’t want to get Covid
4.) Vaccination likely reduces the risk of long Covid and helps in the recovery for some.
5.) Fewer infections mean less transmission. Less transmission means fewer cases. Fewer cases means fewer serious cases and deaths. That’s math.
6.) We do need updated vaccines, and lots of people didn’t get the last one.
7.) Kids benefit from the vaccine, too.
8) The cost-benefit makes sense. I get it"

I don't want to get COVID either, so stop being selfish, and get your vaccines.

Two Viruses

We are now battling two viruses simultaneously.

The first one is COVID-19.

The second one is the oldest virus of all: antisemitism.

May we soon eradicate both viruses, along with antisemitism's carriers.

JEWISH Lives Matter!

This is a war of good vs. evil, and civilization vs. barbarism.  Once upon a time, good people knew there was only one choice. Unfortunately, today too many people are on the side of evil.

"The far-left Black Lives Matter (BLM) Grassroots organization released a statement justifying Saturday’s brutal terror attack by Hamas, in which more than 1,200 Israelis were killed. Among the unspeakable atrocities were the rape, murder and beheading of women and children.

"'[W]e must stand unwaveringly on the side of the oppressed,' wrote the BLM umbrella group, which represents dozens of chapters of the movement around the U.S., in a media statement.

"'When a people have been subject to decades of apartheid and unimaginable violence, their resistance must not be condemned, but understood as a desperate act of self-defense,' the statement continued."

How is slaughtering babies considered "self-defense"?

And they seem to forget that 6 million Jews were exterminated by the Nazis in the most barbaric ways. That's "unimaginable violence", but did you ever see Jewish mobs looting, rioting, slaughtering, raping, and brutalizing infants in response?

Did Americans ever torture and kill 6 million blacks?

To cowardly groups like BLM, the Democratic Socialists, and other Jew-haters here in the United States: you are free to go to any other country and stay there permanently if you are treated so badly here. You are the problem, not the solution.

Has the U.N. Condemned Israel Yet?

Everyone else seems to be doing so. I've had to keep cable news turned off because the "both-sides"/moral equivalency tone of the reporting has been so sickening, the way they'll say "Yes, the death toll in Israel is terrible, but so is the death toll in Gaza", or they will talk about Israel's suffering and then have to talk about the Palestinians and their suffering. They all pretend that the Palestinians wouldn't be suffering at all if they hadn't attacked Israel in the first place!  They are the aggressor. Israel is the victim.

(By the way, have you noticed that the response from American Jews isn't one of looting and rioting? Instead, we are rallying in support of Israel, and donating money to their charities. Quite a difference.)

Matt Vespa at Townhall shows how This BBC Reporter Just Showed the Liberal Media How to Do Their Jobs. The article shows some of the more egregious examples of pro-Palestinian media bias, along with the rare truthful accounts, and touching ones.

Wouldn't you think that after the Holocaust, and now this horrific pogrom, there would be more compassion towards Israel and the Jewish people? But no, even with slaughtered babies -- it's as if nothing at all has changed.  The descriptions of the massacres are so much like accounts I've read about the Nazis,  even including the murders of infants.

But both Hamas and the Kill-the-Jews crowd will get their just desserts very soon.

Fighting Against The Final Solution

The last time Jews have seen evil on this scale was in the Holocaust.  What's happening now is the Hamas/Muslim allies version of The Final Solution.  They have never made any pretenses otherwise. Their whole goal is to eradicate Israel, and the Jewish people.

This has come as no surprise to us Jews, but I think until now, most people have never realized what anti-semites are capable of.  Thanks to cable news and social media, people are able to see murder and depravity on a scale they've never imagined.  If the Nazis had had TV and smartphones, they would have live-streamed the gas chambers.

What has come as somewhat of a surprise to me is the depth of anti-Jewish feeling by people all around the world.  When I saw Hamas supporters screaming "Gas the Jews!" in front of the Sydney Opera House after seeing footage of the dead in Israel, I felt sick to my stomach.

Read this excellent piece by Bari Weiss at The Free Press. Here's an excerpt:

"On the one hand I think: surely this will be sufficient. Surely this amount of blood will be enough to shake the world awake. Surely no one can equivocate or justify this. As my friend Sarah Haider wrote, “How easy is it to simply condemn targeted violence against civilians? Can there be a lower bar?”

"And yet, across the world, people have sunk below it.

"Here you can watch people gathered at the Sydney Opera House cheering 'gas the Jews' and 'death to the Jews.' People are rejoicing in the slaughter on the streets of Berlin and London and Toronto and New York. (Scroll down to read our Free Press dispatch on the celebrations in Manhattan.)

"At our most prestigious universities there is silence from administrations that leapt to speak out on George Floyd’s killing and on the war in Ukraine. Indeed, Meantime, the social justice crowd offers explanations for the massacre—a massacre that, in part, targeted a group of progressive Israelis at a music festival. Terrorists came to that festival on paragliders carrying machine guns to start their slaughter. They raped women there next to the dead bodies of their friends.

"In that way, as Free Press editor and writer Peter Savodnik explains in our second piece in today’s digest, the last few days have been extremely clarifying.

"Because now we know.

"Now we know who would have looked at Jews shoved onto cattle cars and said, 'Well, they did undermine the German economy.'  Those are the people today saying: 'This is a justified response to the provocation of Israel existing.' Now we know whose politics are rooted not in conservatism or liberalism or anything else other than simply hating Jews. Now we can see exactly how people manage to always come up with a reason for why the Jews deserved it.

"The people cheering and waving flags are not celebrating Palestinian liberation. The Hamas attack that began on October 7 won’t lead to a free Palestine. Instead, it will lead—it is already leading—to a horrific escalation, with many more dead on both sides. The people cheering are celebrating death. I’m struck that American intellectuals are reprinting the picture of the paraglider as an image of liberation, like a hip new logo, that visual of death.

"Hamas broadcast the slaughter. I thought it would be enough."

 Unfortunately, it isn't.
