Not Guilty By Reason of Disgraceful Liberal California Jury!

I've been boycotting the nightly news lately -- it's better for your health -- but came across the shocking verdict tonight in the brazen murder of Kate Steinle. How sick, and how sad. Now Kate's parents must feel like Fred Goldman felt upon hearing the verdict for O.J. Simpson.  It was an open and shut case -- and the minds of these jurors must have been firmly shut.  Maybe they, this murderer illegal alien,  and O.J. can all go looking for the real killers together -- in the mirror!

Della Reese

Della Reese has died, and WQXR pays tribute with her great hit "Don't You Know?".  In case YOU don't know, it borrows the music from "Musetta's Waltz"!

Merry You-Know-What!

It's been amusing to hear all the ways that the word "Christmas" is being avoided on TV commercials so far this season. Earlier I even heard "merry holiday" used.  We talk about the erasure of Christmas every year, but this year it seems worse than usual. Children -- and many adults -- must think this is  merely a month-long shopping spree, and sadly, I think they're right.

No Manners

Can this LaVar Ball ever keep quiet?  His son Lonzo is a basketball star with the Lakers, and he ought to be grateful for that. His son LiAngelo, on the other hand, recently got caught shoplifting in China with 2 UCLA teammates, and Mr. Ball doesn't seem to be embarrassed, ashamed, or apologetic about this. It's bad enough to shoplift in our own country, but why give us a black eye by shoplifting in the host country? Both the father and the son need to learn some manners and try to stay out of the public eye for a while!

Good Riddance, Charles Manson

He's finally dead, fifty years too late. The victims of his butchery included the defenseless Sharon Tate, Wojciech Frykowski,  Abigail Folger, Jay Sebring, Steve Parent, and Leno and Rosemary LaBianca.

Media-Sensory Overload

In his column titled "From One Frenzy to the Next", Victor Davis Hanson describes Russian collusion, the NFL kneelers, the statue-haters, and the sexual harassers this way: "America is in another of its Salem moments. Frenzy is almost a living, breathing monster. It moves from host to host, fueled by rumor, gossip, and self-righteous furor."

And that's why I watch as little of the news as possible these days. The constant cable news with all the shouting, the eye-popping split screens, and the tidal wave of information is simply overwhelming.  Remember when we relied on just a newspaper or Walter Cronkite for our information, and remember when things were so much calmer and quieter?

Lowering the Military Bar

Don't you feel much safer now?  "Army lifts ban on cutters, mentally ill and drug abusers to meet recruiting goals."

Simple But True Blog Post Title

Brutalist's "Things CNN will not show you..." is a perfect title for most things that show Trump in a favorable light. Pictures like this featuring Obama were shown on every network, but the only place I've seen photos from this foreign trip has been the Internet. (Also see Don Surber's "Magical History Tour" post.)

The Eleventh Hour of the Eleventh Day of the Eleventh Month

In commemoration of our Veterans Day and Europe's Armistice Day. There were 18.5 million veterans in the United States in 2016, according to the Washington Post.

Celebrate the weekend the the November 8 Trumpiversary with lots of good reading from Maggie's Farm, Larwyn's Linx, and Betsy's Page!

I am tired of reading that every single woman now seems to be the victim of sexual harrassment.  Suzanne Fields says, " "Women looking too hard for offense can often find it even when it is not there. Innocent men (there are some) often preface compliments on a woman's hair or dress, or apologize for saying it, just in case. Vice President Mike Pence's famous unwillingness to dine with a woman alone suddenly seems not so prim and prudish. As one famous suspect would say, 'Sad.'" If you're groped, that's one thing -- but can't you scream or slap the guy's face instead of waiting 10 years to mention it?

Anne Frank, Goyified

This news is beyond belief. "It's Anne Frank—without the Jews or the Nazis! A Dutch production of a new take on the diary-writing young girl will open amid criticism from Jewish groups this week for erasing the Frank family's Jewish identity and failing to mention the Nazis who killed Anne and her sister in a concentration camp."

Talk about erasing history!

Read the entire article, then pray that this travesty is a huge flop.

Motive for Murder

It's not a gun problem, it's a matter of being taught the difference between right and wrong.

"According to police, Kelley was involved in a 'domestic situation' and had been sending 'threatening texts' to his mother-in-law before the massacre.   'This was not racially motivated. It wasn't over religious beliefs,' Freeman Martin of the Texas Department of Public Safety said Monday. 'There was a domestic situation going on with the family and in-laws.'"

So because you hate your in-laws, you slaughter 25 other people in a church.Of course.

Please, let's not waste millions of dollars more on anti-gun prevention, on suicide prevention, on anger management, etc.  It accomplishes absolutely nothing -- just look at Chicago! It boils down to a matter of morals, character, and basic human decency, and money can't fix that.

How's This for a Flag?

Trump at Yokota Air Base, wearing the Air Force jacket he was given.

We Dodged the Clinton Bullet

How lucky we are that Trump defeated Hilary! Imagine if she had won the election and then all these scandalous new details had emerged!

Donna Brazile says she has proof that the DNC rigged the election in Hilary's favor.  She says, "When I was asked to run the Democratic Party after the Russians hacked our emails, I stumbled onto a shocking truth about the Clinton campaign."

How nice of her to reveal all this information in a book, for which she is being paid!

Today's Fifth Column

While watching the news last night and getting infuriated with the comments by liberals and Democrats about the terrorist attack in New York, this old phrase came to my mind: fifth column.  The definition, according to the Oxford Dictionary, is "a group within a country at war who are sympathetic to or working for its enemies." They may not be working for our enemy, but they're definitely emboldening them by their sympathetic tone.

Remember, it's always a "lone wolf". Remember, it's always us who are guilty of Islamophobia. Remember, being against illegal immigration is evil.  Remember, trying to protect our country against terrorists is somehow un-American.

It makes you wonder if today's liberals would have responded to the Nazi menace in the same way.

In light of the savage terrorist attack this week, there's a great deal of important posts at Betsy's Page, Larwyn's Linx, and Maggie's Farm.

And doesn't the phrase "diversity lottery" make you feel ill?

Blaming Everyone Else

Here's Betsey McCaughey on the opioid "epidemic":  "On Face the Nation, Governor Christie, chairman of Trump’s opioid commission, blamed over-prescribing doctors. “This crisis started not on a street corner somewhere. This crisis started in the doctor’s offices and hospitals of America.” That’s untrue, Governor. It contradicts scientific evidence and lets drug abusers off the hook. At least three quarters of opioid pill abusers and almost all heroin addicts got hooked without ever having been prescribed pain medication for an injury or illness, according to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health. Emergency room records show only a fraction — 13% — of opioid overdose victims began taking drugs because of pain, according to the medical journal JAMA Internal Medicine.

The press features many stories about patients who needed pain killers and later became addicts, but these are exceptions, not the rule. Experimenting with opioids — whether heroin or pills — is almost always a choice. A bad choice."

I am so glad to see more articles like this.  Place the blame where it belongs: with the abusers, not with the doctors or with the medications, both of which help the rest of us!

A Plug For Instapundit

I always enjoy reading the posts and amusing remarks over at Instapundit and thought I'd share these two from today:

"IT’S COME TO THIS: White sociology professor: It’s racist for whites to have mixed-race children. They told me if Donald Trump were elected, racist bigots would feel free to spread hate and denounce race-mixing. And they were right!"
