On March 3

Read and pass along Bill Kristol's editorial titled Netanyahu's Moment.  Here's how it ends:

"Though Netanyahu will of course focus, as he should, on the details of a possible Iran agreement—the speech will be a moment that points beyond the particulars of an Iran deal. It will be a moment that could cause us to reflect on what kind of people we are, and, with new leadership, what kind of deeds we might once again be capable of.

"As it will be a moment of vindication for Zionism, the cause to which he and his family have dedicated their lives. In past episodes of Jews’ being consigned by the world to their fate, they were powerless to fight. And so the world (and not a few Jews) became accustomed to Jews’ playing the role of victim. On March 3, something remarkable and historic will happen. The prime minister of Israel, speaking on behalf of not only his country and millions of Jews, but on behalf of the West itself, will command the world’s attention as he declares his refusal to appease the enemies of Israel and the West. Both Jabotinsky and Churchill, both Ben-Gurion and Truman, would appreciate the moment."

I feel the same way.  This is a momentous occasion, and it's about time people see what real leadership is like.

Antisemitism on Display -- in California

California Homeowner's Display: Hatred of Israel and U.S., Waves PA Flag. Home festooned in swastikas and a Palestinian flag anger Sacramento neighbors who find there is little they can do. Well, I can immediately think of something all the neighbors can do, whether they're Jewish or not: put Stars of David in their windows and in their yard, and Israeli flags! We don't need another Skokie.

Tears Of A Clown

Our President gets teary-eyed at the long overdue departure of Eric Holder, the worst Attorney General since John Mitchell; but there are no tears over the continued slaughter of Christians by ISIS.  What is the world coming to?

Sweet Story of the Day

Husband, 108, wife, 105, celebrate 82 years married. "Jeanne Veillard sat quietly next to her husband, wearing a white linen dress and a pair of pink slippers. They patted each other on the hand. How did the happy couple meet? 'I found him in the street,' she joked in French Creole, making the room full of relatives laugh. Veillard starts his day at 5 a.m. and does five to seven pushups. For breakfast, he has a cup of tea, oatmeal and fresh fruit. Lunch and dinner consist of fish and fresh vegetables. The centenarians nap early and often."

Goodbye, Mr. Spock

I grew up with "Star Trek" on TV, so I was sad to hear that Leonard Nimoy had died. Some of my favorite episodes included "The Trouble With Tribbles";  "The City on the Edge of Forever" (Edith Keeler); "All Our Yesterdays", with Mariette Hartley; "This Side of Paradise", where he fell in love with Jill Ireland; and "A Piece of the Action." Right? Check!

Of All People!

I think I would have preferred Obama not send anyone to AIPAC, as he originally intended, than he send anti-Israel representatives Susan Rice and Samantha Power! Breitbart calls it insult and injury.

The Weasel of the Week is the awful Marie Harf!

Today is the 22nd anniversary of the first World Trade Center bombing by Islamic terrorists. Not much has changed since then, except for the current president and Secretary of State, whose words and actions have emboldened a more savage breed of jihadists. Strange how people complained more about waterboarding than they have about beheading.

Great timing!  Something tells me this won't make the Book-of-the-Month Club: Reissuing of Mein Kampf in Germany Provokes Outrage.

Some Positive Campus News

I had to look twice to make sure I was reading this headline correctly: 2015′s First Resolution Calling for More Investment in Israel Passed by University of Georgia Students. That's right. Not divestment -- more investment!

Support Israel

Here's a good quote from Alan Dershowitz on the shameful boycott of Netanyahu's speech, via Israel Hayom: "One should walk out on tyrants, bigots and radical extremists, as the United States did when Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad denied the Holocaust and called for Israel's destruction at the United Nations. To use such an extreme tactic against our closest ally, and the Middle East's only vibrant democracy, is not only to insult Israel's prime minister but to put Israel in a category in which it does not belong."

He's right. But the awful Susan Rice is wrong, actually calling Netanyahu's speech "destructive"! She ought to look at the last 6 years -- that's destructive!

A Sad Sign of our Times

This is something I never imagined I'd see:  "Rabbis from European countries gathered in Prague Tuesday for training in self-defense and first aid in response to a wave of attacks against Jews and a rise of anti-Semitism on the continent. In a stunning beginning of a training session, knives were distributed to dozens of rabbis, young and old, before receiving instructions and practicing what to do to survive stabbing and how to treat injuries."

A National Embarrassment

That's how Boehner described Obama's veto of the Keystone Pipeline, but it also describes this president. Every day he does or says something that makes you wonder how it's possible that he's actually the president of this country.

They say that Obama is "desperate" to make a deal with Iran.  It must be pretty bad if he is also desperate to stop Netanyahu from speaking about it.

ISIS has taken 90 Christians hostage. Each brutal action they take is a deliberate response to the spinelessness of this administration.

Now Obama is going to control the Internet. Everything he interferes with (health care, for example) is a disaster.

We have 2 more years of this, and the next President -- with any luck, a Republican -- will have the tough task of picking up the pieces.

“Jew Hatred on Campus” Campaign

David Horowitz is spotlighting antisemitism at American colleges in his new Jew Hatred on Campus campaign.  Check out the website, here.  I doubt the university antisemites and instigators will visit this site, but everyone else ought to.

"Is Anyone Listening?"

Are American Jews listening? I really wonder.

This is from WorldJewishDaily: "Martin Indyk, Obama's former adviser on the Middle East, has just said that the White House is ready to cut Israel loose. Is anyone listening?"

Caroline Glick writes:  "It is hard to understand either Israel’s election or Obama’s hysterical response to Netanyahu’s scheduled speech without recognizing that Obama clearly feels threatened by the message he will deliver. Surrounded by sycophantic aides and advisers, and until recently insulated from criticism by a supportive media, while free to ignore Congress due to his veto power, Obama has never had to seriously explain his policies regarding Iran and Islamic terrorists more generally. He has never endured a direct challenge to those policies.
Today Obama believes that he is in a to-the-death struggle with Netanyahu. If Netanyahu’s speech is a success, Obama’s foreign policy will be indefensible. If Obama is able to delegitimize Netanyahu ahead of his arrival, and bring about his electoral defeat, then with a compliant Israeli government, he will face no obstacles to his plan to appease Iran and blame Islamic terrorism on the West for the remainder of his tenure in office."

Shop Till You Drop

Al-Shabab released a video calling for attacks on Western malls. The video specifically mentioned the megamall in Bloomington.
Oh well, don't let that worry you. Remember, the media is just hyping these terrorist threats. But if they do attack the Mall of America or other malls, will they finally be called "Islamic terrorists" then?  Or will the automatic warning of a backlash against Muslims be issued?

Our Vichy Government

Obama Plotting to Undermine Netanyahu’s Speech in Congress.  "The president may schedule high-profile interviews while Netanyahu visits. Who, if anyone, will address AIPAC?"
WorldJewishDaily.com puts it more succinctly: Obama to AIPAC: Drop Dead!
If the public is allowed to attend these speeches, how about every Jewish citizen attending as a show of support? Otherwise, this will be yet another propaganda victory for our enemies.

Strange how Obama can't spare the time to meet with Netanyahu, but he did find time to meet with Abbas last March. Strange how Jews still voted for Obama and will continue to vote for Democrats despite this obvious antipathy.

You Say Extremist and I Say Jihadi

From Jihad Watch: Libya: Islamic State jihadis murder at least 40 people, injure 70 in series of jihad suicide bombings.

From Hot Air:  "A new intelligence assessment, circulated by the Department of Homeland Security this month and reviewed by CNN, focuses on the domestic terror threat from right-wing sovereign citizen extremists and comes as the Obama administration holds a White House conference to focus efforts to fight violent extremism."

The Church Knave

When church officials talk like this, you know you have a widespread problem: "During the session entitled 'Hard Talk' the bishop told a Jewish speaker that the Holocaust 'should have taught you a lesson'." The only lesson I'm getting is that people are more ignorant and antisemitic than ever, and that even a supposed man of God isn't immune.

Read up on the week's news at Betsy's Page, Maggie's Farm, and Larwyn's Linx.  And here's a headline you never thought you'd see: Norwegian Muslims will form a human shield around an Oslo synagogue.   'We think that after the terrorist attacks in Copenhagen, it is the perfect time for us Muslims to distance ourselves from the harassment of Jews that is happening,' 17-year-old event organizer Hajrad Arshad said in an interview with Norwegian television. 'If someone wants to attack the synagogue, they need to step over us first," posted another of the event's organizers on Facebook.'" That's a sentiment I'd love to hear more often.

Antisemitism Never Ends

Does anyone really believe that the thugs who vandalized the Jewish cemetery in France didn't know the graves were Jewish?

The Times of Israel reports that "Anti-Semitism now ‘fashionable’ in the US.Fashionable!

I bet Obama feels that the media is "hyping" these stories the way it hypes stories about Islamic terror.

Elder of Ziyon posts this op-ed on antisemitism -- from Deutsche Welle.  "But Europe, and every single European, must stand united against rampant anti-Semitism. Not just in demonstrations and other events, but in everyday life. Do not stand idly by when your neighbor's life is threatened, the Bible says. We shouldn't stay silent, but raise our voices in anger."

Jobs for Jihadists!

I saw this on TV tonight and thought I was hearing things. Marie Harf said we should find jobs for ISIS instead of killing them

The only job they'd be qualified for is that of butcher.

Fiddling While ISIS Burns

Cal Thomas quotes Shakespeare in his column on President Obama, America's Nero:

"William Shakespeare wrote these words for Macbeth, but insert the president's name for the first word 'Life' and you could not have a better description of America's Nero":

"(Obama's) but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more: it is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing."

I wish he would be heard no more, but we still have 702 more days left to go.

Nazis in Libya

I see the photos of Coptic Christians about to be executed by ISIS barbarians, and I think of this:
Nazis executing Soviet civilians and Jews during WW2.

Maybe you have to be Jewish to be truly outraged over the extent of these atrocities, but at least the Egyptians responded immediately, like the Jordanians did.

Jew Haters of America

Gee, are you sure this is antisemitism? Those who did this might just be youth, or members of a gang, or graffiti artists trying to express themselves!

Caroline Glick on Obama and Antisemitism

You have to read Caroline Glick's latest column, Barack Obama is mainstreaming anti-Semitism in America, to feel vindicated in your opinion of Obama's smear campaign against Netanyahu, as well as his blatant anti-Jewish sentiment in general. He may as well just get it over with and announce his support for Jew-haters.

See? "First of all, if all goes as he hopes, the media and his party members will use his demonization of Netanyahu’s character as a means to dismiss the warnings that Netanyahu will clearly sound in his address. Second, by boycotting Netanyahu and encouraging Democrats to do the same, Obama is mainstreaming the anti-Semitic boycott, divestment and sanctions movement to isolate Israel."

He must give that speech.

Update: Elie Wiesel will attend that speech. Look at this full-page ad.

News From Obamaland

"Obama on Chapel Hill murders: 'No one in the USA should ever be targeted because of…how they worship'."  Really? When Jews are murdered it's a random killing, but when Muslims or blacks are murdered, it's racism even when there's no proof. Who's on his high horse now?
--------------------------------------------------------------------
You have to see this tweet from Ambassador John Bolton, as seen at The Right Scoop:  "Why we're less secure today than we were 6 years ago, summed up in one GIF. pic.twitter.com/1pDPSOk7ft"
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I like Michael Reagan's column Living in Obama World, as well as the accompanying cartoon.  He writes, "According to his boasts, which the mainstream media rarely challenge, the economy has rebounded from the Great Recession and federal budget deficits have been sliced in half under his watch.
Never mind that we're in the slowest economic recovery since FDR's awful policies prolonged the Great Depression.

Never mind that the 'official' unemployment rate of 5.7 percent is a statistical fraud because it doesn't count the millions who've dropped out of the job market.

Never mind that the federal government still spends $486 billion more every year than it takes in and future deficits are projected to be a trillion bucks a year.

And never mind that ObamaCare is a fiscal time bomb that's already driven up the cost of health insurance for millions of individuals and small business owners.

Pay no attention to all those grim realities at home, says our strange man in the Oval Office. All is well on Obama World.

And don't worry about those bloody wars going on in Syria and what's left of Iraq. Don't worry about the future of Afghanistan or the recent terrorist takeover in Yemen, either."

Obama's New Slogan

"Speak softly about terrorism, and carry a big selfie stick."

Terrorism? Pshaw!

The list of daily Obama outrages got larger yesterday when I saw clips of an interview in which he downplayed terror threat and actually blamed the media for "hyping" it!

While the friends and family of the victims of Islamic terrorism are suffering, I'm sure the terrorists themselves don't mind having him act as their mouthpiece.

(Alan Caruba has a column titled Terrorists and our Idiot President, which sums it up pretty well.)

Desperation Time

Look at this headline and weep: Obama Plays Race Card Against Netanyahu;Congressional black caucus says Netanyahu speech 'disrespectful' to their president. “It’s not simply about President Obama being a black man disrespected by a foreign leader. It’s deeper than that.”  That's the disgraceful claim of Rep. Hank Johnson. The purpose of Netanyahu's speech has nothing whatsoever to do with race, and everything to do with stopping Obama from caving in to Iran.

There's something very wrong when the White House is willing to risk the security of our country and willing to personally attack the PM of Israel to keep him from speaking the truth about Iran and the danger to Israel. What's Obama so afraid of?

Also, please read Jonathan Tobin's article, "How Obama and his mouthpieces are encouraging anti-Jewish behavior."  Here's an excerpt: "But now apparently this reluctance to admit that Islamists terrorists are Muslims extends to refusing to say that Jewish victims were Jewish or that the killers were trying to kill Jews. In doing so, the administration seems to think that denying that it was an act of anti-Semitism will absolve it of any responsibility to speak up against Jew hatred or to acknowledge the way the virus of anti-Semitism has spread among Muslims...But there is a cost attached to Obama's refusal to speak about anti-Semitism and his firm orders to underlings to copy his oblivious stand. By that I do not refer to a political cost for Obama who will never again have to face an electorate, including an American Jewish community that gave him the lion's share of their votes despite his obvious hostility to Israel. Instead it is the Jews of Europe, who continue to be targeted because of their faith amid what even Obama's State Department termed a 'rising tide of anti-Semitism,' who will pay the price for his refusal to speak the truth about violent Jew hatred."

No, it's not a black man disrespected by a foreign leader. But it is the Jewish people being disrespected by the President of the United States.

Standing Up For Jewish Victims

"A bunch of folks."
I can't stand the thought that we have to put up with Obama for two more years. Every day comes another outrageous statement, another person to blame, another lie.  Thomas Lifson calls him a "Jihad denier."  Carol Brown lists some examples of violence against Jews and attacks Obama's lukewarm comment about Islamic terrorists randomly shooting a bunch of folks in a deli in Paris. Someone has to stand up for the Jews, and it's obvious it's not Obama, so let it be the rest of us.

(Sometimes I think that even if Muslim extremists attacked the White House itself, he would still find it impossible to name them or blame them.)

Innocence Abroad

Why can't the State Department institute a travel ban for parts of the Middle East controlled by ISIS?  We don't need any more tragic Kayla Muellers. You want to help people? Do so right here in America instead.

Remaking Anne Frank

Here's an excellent article about Anne Frank, and how her life and her diary were compromised by writers and movie-makers over the years.  I had read the book "Treasures from the Attic: The Extraordinary Story of Anne Frank's Family" by Mirjam Pressler, which covered much of the controversies discussed in this column. Isn't it a shame that even though millions know her name, they still can't believe the Holocaust took place.

Austin Hatch

You have to see this very touching short video about college basketball player Austin Hatch, a survivor of not one but two fatal family planes crashes, who has somehow endured due to his own willpower and the love of his remaining family.

On His High Horse

Obama is either completely oblivious, or a terrorist sympathizer. How else can you explain insulting remarks like this:  "The news media absolutely overstates the risks of terrorism because stories about things like climate change aren’t 'sexy' and don’t drive ratings, President Obama said in an interview published Monday." Yes, that must be it.
The media has overstated this:
And this:
Let's by all means concentrate on the really important issues like "climate change" while constantly defending and excusing Muslim atrocities.

The Latest Scandals in the News

Bruce Jenner. His mother claims she's more proud of his becoming a woman than of his Olympic gold. Does anyone actually believe that propaganda? In other news, he was in a fatal car accident today. Boy, when it rains, it pours! The Kardashians must be wishing he were still on their TV show just for the ratings boost.

Brian Williams.  After news of his embarrassing lies came to light, he has decided to take a temporary leave of absence from NBC News. Usually when some celebrity is caught lying like this, they will conveniently blame it on drugs, alcohol, bipolar disorder, etc., so stay tuned.

At least nobody's talking about "Deflate-gate" any longer.

Netanyahu's Words

Says John McCain in this Israel Hayom column, 'Millions of Americans will be paying close attention to Netanyahu's words'. That's precisely why the Democrats are so worried -- the contrast between Netanyahu's tough words and Obama's paralysis is very clear.

By the way, in case you didn't already guess, Obama Spat with Israel’s Netanyahu was White House Creation.

Watcher's Council & Some Good Friday Links

The Council has spoken! Here are the latest Watcher's Council results. What a lot of good reading!

The Watcher's Council Weasel of the Week is none other than Valerie Jarrett, Obama's co-president.

Visit the Israel Forever Foundation to read the 1/26/15 edition of Haveil Havalim,

If you haven't already seen Senator Tom Cotton in action, check out this video in which he says the following:  "In my opinion the only problem with Guantanamo Bay is there are too many empty beds and cells there right now. We should be sending more terrorists there for further interrogation to keep this country safe. As far as I'm concerned every last one of them can rot in Hell, but as long as they don't do that they can rot in Guantanamo Bay." Too bad Obama doesn't feel this way.

And read this post at Cold Fury about Obama's disgraceful Crusades speech and his declaration of war on our culture. You get the feeling that even if ISIS or Al Qaeda attacked the White House itself, he wouldn't be able to condemn the act without comparing it to something else.

Chinka Dinka Doo --- And Don't

I like Katherine Timpf, who spotlights the idiocy of political correctness at National Review.  Check out this ridiculousness: Army Deletes Tweet About ‘Chinks In Armor’ After People Cry Racism

I know I've seen that same complaint over the years. Anyone with any common sense and brains knows the meaning of "a chink in the armor", so I can't understand why the Army didn't simply ignore these fools and leave the tweet alone! Apologizing for things that aren't offensive, and caving in to ignorant whiners, just makes the apologists look very bad.

Here's Mark Steyn on Obama at the National Prayer Breakfast:  "Oh, and, even by the standards of his usual rote cookie-cutter shoulder-to-shoulder shtick that follows every ISIS beheading of western captives, the President could barely conceal his boredom at having to discuss the immolation of Flt Lt al-Kasasbeh:
Aaand it, I think, will redouble [pause] the vigilance aaand determination on the part of our global coalition to, uh, make sure that they are degraded and ultimately defeated. Ummmm. [Adopting a whimsical look] It also just indicates the degree to which whatever ideology they're operating off of, it's bankrupt. [Suppressing a smirk, pivoting to a much more important subject.] We're here to talk about how to make people healthier and make their lives better.
The lack of passion - the bloodlessness - of Obama's reaction to atrocity is always striking. He can't even be bothered pretending that he means it."

The Brady Bunch

Here's a little break from the continual terrible news -- an upbeat story about Tom Brady and his family. It's worth it for the Instagram photo alone.

Swift Action vs. No Action

I applauded late last night when I heard the news that Jordan had executed by hanging two Islamic terrorists in retaliation for the horrific murder by fire of the pilot Mouath al-Kasaesbeh. Jordan didn't talk about measured responses, or restraint, or a backlash -- they took decisive action. It made Obama look even worse.

Cartoon of the Day

By Bob Gorrell, who obviously gets it.

Let's Bring Back Shock and Awe

If King Abdullah wants to meet with people who can help him fight and destroy ISIS after the barbaric burning alive of their young pilot, he ought to talk to the Israelis, not to Obama! What possible help can you expect from a man who can't even use the word "Islamic terrorists", even now?

A Book We Do Not Need

Just as remakes of great movies are completely unnecessary, so are sequels to great novels. I couldn't believe this headline today: 'To Kill A Mockingbird' author Harper Lee to publish second novel. The new novel Go Set a Watchman, Harper Lee's first for 55 years, features Scout as an adult woman and, in the author's words, is 'a pretty decent effort'. No thanks -- I'll pass.

Our Upside-Down World

Imagine this!  "Egypt’s leading business organization has praised Cairo’s plans to import natural gas from Israel, saying that doing so will 'yield many benefits.'  In another sign of the burgeoning security and commercial ties between the two countries since Abdel Fattah el Sisi became president of Egypt in 2014, the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) said that that the deal with Israel would reduce import costs by relying on pipelines already installed by East Mediterranean Gas (EMG), the company that had supervised Egyptian gas exports to Israel before they were halted following the 2011 uprising that led to a Muslim Brotherhood government."

We now have a business partnership between the former enemies Egypt and Israel; and enemies between the former friends (the United States and Israel.) Plus you have a president who's fighting an oil pipeline that would "yield many benefits" to his own country.  I think I need a scorecard.
