Biden's Hypocrisy

Joe Biden has no right to criticize Israel!  He ought to solve his own problems here at home before he dares to lecture any other country.

Israel ‘is not another star on the American flag’: Ben-Gvir blasts Biden

"Following statements by President Joe Biden criticizing potential reforms to Israel’s judicial system, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said that the U.S. must understand that Israel is a sovereign state, with its own political interests and priorities, and not beholden to the American agenda."

"Speaking about legislation that aims to overhaul Israel’s courts, Biden said he disapproves of the plan and that Netanyahu would not be invited to the White House in the foreseeable future."

Netanyahu won''t be missing anything anyway.  He'd probably be mugged or carjacked on the way to the White House; be kept waiting by Biden the way Obama did; find illegal aliens living for free in the hotel room next to his; catch COVID here thanks to the removal of all mitigations; and be unable to afford to buy any souvenirs to bring back home, due to high inflation.

What Kind of an Evil, Cowardly Woman Slaughters Children?

UPDATE: "Authorities later said at a press conference the shooter, who used he/him pronouns in some online profiles and also went by the name Aiden, was a former student at the school".

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

What kind of a woman shoots and kills elementary school children? I'm glad police killed her. Now please, stop the 24 hour cable news cycle, and stop the political bluster before other female terrorists get the same idea for their own 15 minutes of fame.

From CNN today: "An armed 28-year-old woman fatally shot three students and three adults at a private Christian school in Nashville before she was shot and killed by police, authorities said."

"The shooter, who was not identified, entered the Covenant School via a side door and was armed with at least two assault-style rifles and a handgun, said Metro Nashville Police spokesperson Don Aaron. She fired multiple shots on the first and second floors of the school before police fatally shot her on the second floor, Aaron said."

A Movie Remake That's Neither Needed Nor Wanted

Why does Hollywood insist on remaking great classic films?  Remember the widely panned 2008 remake of "The Women"?  The awful 2016 remake of "Ben-Hur" that went straight to DVD?

Well, not having learned anything from those and other debacles,  Paramount is now insisting on remaking "Vertigo", with Robert Downey Jr. attempting to play James Stewart's part.

What next, a remake of "The Godfather"? Please stop already!

Searching for COVID Data

Oh, great. Another reliable COVID data source, gone.  And who can trust the CDC?   "The Times Switches to C.D.C. Covid Data, Ending Daily Collection.  As local data sources become less reliable, The Times will instead report information collected by the C.D.C. on its virus tracking pages."

If you must use a CDC tracker, the Community Transmission Levels map, "provided for healthcare facility use only", is the one.

COVID? What COVID? Let's Just Move On!

From the New York Times: Covid Politics Leave a Florida Public Hospital Shaken.

"Some members of the Sarasota County Public Hospital Board and medical staff at Sarasota Memorial are bewildered and taken aback by critics’ continued preoccupation with Covid policy — chiefly the avoidance of ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine, drugs found to be ineffective or even harmful as Covid treatments.

'Most hospitals around the country are over Covid,' said Dr. James V. Fiorica, the hospital’s chief medical officer. 'We’ve proven ourselves. Why aren’t we moving on?'"

People who are part of the 'health freedom' movement object to the fact that Sarasota Memorial closely followed guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institutes of Health, which do not recommend using ivermectin or hydroxychloroquine in treating Covid patients. Sarasota Memorial did allow those drugs as treatments, the review said, but only with a staff physician’s order and, eventually, a waiver."

3 years later, and these horse dewormer crackpots are still threatening doctors! The only people who need to "move on" are the anti-vaxxers and COVID mimimizers!

Our Enemies are Quaking in Their Boots

From Fox News March 18: "Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro said he sees fighting climate change as a top priority for the Navy as the Biden administration proposes shrinking the fleet by two ships and worries grow about how the U.S. Navy stacks up to China’s.

'As the Secretary of the Navy, I can tell you that I have made climate one of my top priorities since the first day I came into office,' Del Toro said March 1 in remarks at the University of the Bahamas.

Del Toro said he met with Bahamas Prime Minister Philip Davis during his visit and spoke 'at length' with him about the climate crisis and focused the bulk of his remarks on climate."

Gee, and I thought the priority of the Navy and our military was combat readiness, and the ability to fight and win -- fight our enemies, that is, not climate change! Unbelievable.

Preparing for the Next Pandemic

From TIME Magazine: "Don’t Put COVID-19 in the Rearview Mirror. Now We Need to Prepare for the Next Pandemic"

Ellen Johnson Sirleaf says, "It’s predictable that at this point in time leaders may want to focus on anything but pandemics. It’s been more than three years since COVID-19 started, people have grown weary from its toll, and most lockdowns and other restrictions have been lifted. But moving on would be a terrible mistake. Failure to prepare now for the next pandemic puts the whole world at risk of more deaths and economic losses. Now is when the investments of time and money needed to minimise those risks are modest."

Preparing for the next pandemic will be hard to do, since so many Americans still believe that this one was a hoax and that 'COVID is over."  There needs to be a much better job when it comes to messaging and getting these people to listen.

ISIS Attack in Six Months?

From U.S. News & World Report:  "U.S. Commander: ISIS in Afghanistan 6 Months Away From Foreign Attack Capability;  ‘They can do an external operation against U.S. or Western interests abroad in under six months with little to no warning,’ says  the Army general in charge of regional operations."

But don't worry! Our military will be prepared -- with the correct pronouns.

Immature, Coddled, & Emotionally Unprepared for the Real World

At first, I thought this headline was from the satirical Babylon Bee.  Can you just imagine how these whiny brats will respond when the judge rules against them in court?

Stanford offers support to students traumatized by appearance of conservative judge

"As Twitchy reported last week, Fifth Circuit appellate judge Kyle Duncan appeared at Stanford Law School and was shouted down by protesters; Duncan later called the event a 'bizarre therapy session from hell.'   Duncan, you see, is a Trump-appointed judge and a member of the Federalist Society, but even worse: he once refused to use a transgender sex offender’s preferred pronouns in his opinion. When Duncan asked for an administrator to step in and restore order, DEI Dean Tirien Steinbach gave a short speech in which she said that she was  'deeply, deeply uncomfortable.'

"Federalist Society leaders received an email (that went to all students) from acting Dean of Students Jeanne Merino to stress that traumatized students could seek 'safety and mental health'  support resources from various individuals, including Dean Steinbach.

"Jonathan Turley writes 'In what may constitute the most tone deaf response to an academic scandal in history, Stanford University is advising conservative students involved with the recently cancelled Federalist Society event that they can 'reach out'  to various resources, including DEI Dean Tirien Steinbach who helped shutdown the event. It is akin to the Oscars telling Chris Rock that Will Smith is available as an emotional support coach. You know what is emotionally therapeutic for those denied free speech? Free speech.'"

Third Anniversary of COVID Pandemic

In case you've forgotten:

"Three years ago today, on March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) formally declared COVID-19 a pandemic. At the time, there were about 120,000 reported cases and less than 5,000 deaths worldwide.

The official death toll of the pandemic now stands at 6.9 million, but the best estimate of the true amount of men, women and children that have died is at least 21 million, three times official figures. That is, more than 21 million people would be alive today if the pandemic had been contained when it first emerged in early 2020.

For context, in three years, the coronavirus pandemic has killed more people than all the casualties of World War I. In the United States alone, there are 1.1 million official deaths and an additional 300,000 excess deaths, including at least 1,705 children. The overall per capita death rate is steadily approaching that of the 1918 flu pandemic.

In addition to those who have died, tens of millions continue to suffer from a vast array of symptoms that have been grouped under the name Long COVID. Just last week, a study in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that those with Long COVID are at high risk of “cardiovascular events and excess all-cause mortality.”

...

"Biden’s term in office has been characterized by the effort to convince the population that the threat has passed. During his period in office, he ended all remaining mitigation measures, including masking. The US has led the way to the abandonment of all restraints on the spread of the virus throughout the world."

This article is from the World Socialist Web Site. I am not a socialist, but I do agree with the serious way they have covered the COVID pandemic while others have gaslighted, minimized, and shrugged off the deadly disease as "just a cold."

A Dark Day for COVID Data

We relied on this crucial data from the beginning of the pandemic, and now a great resource is gone. You certainly can't rely on the CDC!

"JHU (Johns Hopkins University) has stopped collecting data as of 3/10/23. After three years of around-the-clock tracking of COVID-19 data from around the world, Johns Hopkins has discontinued the Coronavirus Resource Center’s operations. The site’s two raw data repositories will remain accessible for information collected from 1/22/20 to 3/10/23 on cases, deaths, vaccines, testing and demographics.

After three years of 24-7 operations, the CRC is ceasing its data collection efforts due to an increasing number of U.S. states slowing their reporting cadences. In addition, the federal government has improved its pandemic data tracking enough to warrant the CRC’s exit. From the start, this effort should have been provided by the U.S. government. This does not mean Johns Hopkins believes the pandemic is over. It is not. The institution remains committed to maintaining a leadership role in providing the public and policymakers with cutting edge insights into COVID-19."

Literally Treating Mask-Wearers Like Criminals

Mayor Eric Adams of New York has a crime problem. But rather than spend money on security guards and making stores safer, he has a better idea!

People who wear COVID masks are now being told to take them off when entering a store.  That way, they won't think you're there to rob the cash register or shoplift.

So now, immunocompromised, medically vulnerable, and elderly people wearing their KN95 and N95 masks to protect themselves and others from COVID will be treated like real criminals and their lives made even more difficult. How disgraceful!
