The Dumbing Down of Mt. Everest

What a shame: "Mount Everest is overcrowded, polluted and nearing a crossroads, 60 years after first climb". Not only that, but they are installing a ladder at the top because it's too crowded!  Excuse me, but it wasn't meant to be easy, and it certainly wasn't meant to become a publicity stunt. Can't they leave well enough alone and leave the climbing to the truly experienced?
