Good Friday Links

This is a very succinct headline:  "The Delta variant's message to anti-vaxxers: It's your funeral", by Noah Millman, Columnist .

More proof that there are plenty of jobs out there and plenty of workers who aren't interested in working. TACOMA, Wash., July 14, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- "With explosive job growth continuing across the U.S., a new analysis being released today by staffing firm PeopleReady finds that nearly five million jobs have been posted in the last month, including roughly one million in just the past seven days. In addition, PeopleReady is releasing a list of some of those jobs seeing the most growth—and says many of the jobs coming back fastest will benefit those who had a tough time finding work during the past year.    According to the PeopleReady analysis of millions of jobs, some of the fastest-growing jobs in the past 30 days include:   Food and beverage attendants, including waiters, saw job postings rise 365%;     Catering service workers had a 259% increase; Stockroom associates had a 226% increase; Personal grocery shoppers jumped 146%.; Line cooks rose 133%.;  Delivery drivers are up 100%.; Warehouse associate jobs are also up 100%.".

Meanwhile, every day  I see people begging on the intersections with their cardboard signs, while around them are "now hiring" and "help wanted" signs. How is standing on the median more attractive than working in a warehouse? The word "working" is the difference.

Ignore at your own peril.  From Marketwatch:  "The number of new cases of COVID-19 in the U.S. has more than doubled in the last two weeks, as the delta variant continues to race across the nation, infecting both vaccinated and unvaccinated people, who account for more than 99% of recent fatalities.  The average case tally on Wednesday was 26,513, according to a New York Times tracker, up 111% from two weeks ago."

Fox News anchors really have to stop their constant, obnoxious anti-vaccine rhetoric. I thought they were supposed to be fair and balanced. Maybe if one of their own relatives is hospitalized or dies, they will change their tune.  But I dislike it when some say it's such anchors' words that are killing the unvaccinated. No -- it's the unvaccinated people's own stupidity and defiance that's killing them.

From Pastor John Hagee, founder and Chairman of Christians United for Israel:  Ilhan Omar’s antisemitism poses a moment of reckoning for Democrats "Through her hatred, Representative Omar has forfeited the privilege to have a seat at the table where important decisions are made. We must be better than empowering bigots with positions of power. We must respond with action. Anything less, and the series of events compels the conclusion that for Speaker Pelosi, one can be an antisemite as long as they’re also a Democrat."

Here's another example of  ridiculous complaining and political correctness. Workplaces have more important things to do during a pandemic than make sure they have your size! Lose weight instead of expecting special treatment!

5 ways your workplace isn’t accommodating to fat people
Far too many diversity and inclusion programs ignore fat people. Now that offices are reopening, it’s time to include them, too.

"Her office was giving away T-shirts. 'I can remember where I was standing and what I was doing when I first heard somebody say, ‘I’m not even going to go down because I know they won’t have my size.'' It was a light bulb moment and she vowed to make size inclusiveness a priority from that day forward. She says that she only works with clothing vendors who offer sizes up to 4x and invites employees to let her know if they have specific size requirements or if they want her to set aside a size they need if they’re afraid she might run out. Similar offerings should be made if employees are asked to wear specific uniforms, shirts, etc. And, if accommodating size isn’t possible, offer size-neutral options like cups or coolers."
