Needed Now: a Tougher Stance on Vaccinations

From The Washington Post Breaking News newsletter:  "Doctors, nurses and other health groups call for mandatory coronavirus vaccinations for all health workers as new cases surge. The joint statement — issued by 57 groups, including the American Medical Association and the American Nurses Association — represents an increasingly tough stance by the medical and public health establishment amid the sluggish pace of national vaccinations."

About time! Like others who eagerly got vaccinated as soon as they could, I am fed up with the deliberately and defiantly unvaccinated, and a tough stance like this is exactly what we need, and more often.

We need more great leadership like that of French President Macron. "France passed a new Covid-19 law late on Sunday that makes health passes mandatory for a number of indoor venues as the country faces a fourth wave of infections. The vote came after days of heated parliamentary debates that lasted long into the night and protests against the measure in dozens of French cities... 'A freedom where I don’t owe anything to anyone doesn’t exist,” Mr. Macron told reporters at a hospital in Tahiti, one of the islands. 'What is your liberty worth if you tell me you don’t want to get vaccinated? And tomorrow, you infect your father, your mother or myself. I am a victim of your freedom.'  Mr. Macron cited the possibility that hospitals would have to push back crucial surgeries, as they have during past waves, to make room for Covid-19 patients who had refused to get their shots. 'That is not called freedom,' he said. 'That is called irresponsibility, selfishness.'"

And 160,000 selfish people promptly marched in opposition to this law.

Can you imagine what  our country would have become if the polio vaccine of the 1950s had been met with the same defiance and irresponsibility that these covidiots have displayed?

Start acting like adults before it's too late.
