Emotional Wednesday Night at the Republican Convention

Wow!  I've never seen a convention this united, patriotic, and heartwarmingly emotional. Trump speaks tonight, but I don't know how even he will top what we just saw. I also felt sorry that JD Vance had to follow these powerhouse speakers on the same night.

Shabbos Kesterbaum, the student who has sued Harvard for its antisemitic harassment of Jewish students. His was the most unapologetically Jewish speech I've heard in a while, and he had me standing and cheering.

The parents of hostage Omer Neutra spoke about having their son and others held captive by Hamas since October 7. The audience chanted with them, "Bring them home!"

In a very powerful  speech, The Gold Star families who lost their loved ones at the Abbey Gate terrorist attack during the disgraceful withdrawal from Afghanistan read the names of the 13 dead. The audience spontaneously and movingly chanted the names in a call-and-response reaction, & there wasn't a dry eye in the house.

William Pekrul is a 99 year old veteran of WW2, father of 11, and married for 76 years. He said that if Trump were his Commander-in-Chief, he would re-enlist.  They don't make them like this any more. The crowd went wild, and I wanted to jump through the TV screen and hug him.

Also, if you haven't already seen this, check out Madaline Brame's impassioned speech from Tuesday night.  Her son Hason Correa was an Army Sergeant who fought in Afghanistant but came home only to be stabbed to death six years ago.  If you want to see a fierce mother who's tough on crime, watch her.
