Oh Man!

Oh brother! The speech police are at it again: "Purdue: ‘Avoid’Words with ‘Man’ in Them".  Katherine Timpf reports:  "A writing guide at Purdue University advises students to avoid words with 'man' in them — such as 'mailman' and 'mankind'— in order to write 'in a non-sexist, non-biased way.'"

It's not a non-biased way, it's an unnatural way! I have never uttered the word "chairperson" and never will. These fools might be offended by a normal, inoffensive word, but most of us are not. They really must hate men to make this nonsense such a priority.

How To Stop Enabling Mass Killings

This 2015 Vox piece by German Lopez was linked to at Free Republic today: "Mass shooters want fame. Here's why we should stop giving it to them." Evidently, nobody at the networks, at the newspapers, and on social media has heeded the wise advice that was given, because ratings seem to be more important than common sense.

Another "Troubled Youth"

"Parkland high school shooting: At least 14 'victims,' some dead, suspect in custody, Florida sheriff says." Here we go again! Already I have heard this murderer referred to as a "troubled youth", and I'm sure once again we will have to hear all about his life story nonstop on TV. While he gets the attention and glory he seeks, his victims lie dead.  As I always wonder after killing sprees like this, if he was so troubled, why didn't he just kill himself?

Olympic Skating

Just in time: 10 Most Powerful Uses of Classical Music in Olympic Figure Skating History. Before I even read more, the first thing I thought of was Torvill & Dean, and "Bolero".

Lots 'o Links

There's more good reading to do this week, thanks to Maggie's Farm, Larwyn's Linx, and Betsy's Page!

Bonus from Don Surber:  "Illegal aliens threaten to leave if Congress doesn't pass a DACA law." Is that a promise?

Some Links Worth Reading

Headline of the day:  "This gender crap needs to just stop,’ mom says after father-daughter dance postponed." I agree with her!

Greg Crosby has written a wonderfully nostalgic column about the 1940s

Check out this before and after photo of men and "men", at American Digest

What'd We Ever Do To The Irish?!

From Israpundit. "Today, we are learning via anonymous sources that Team Trump has pulled off another coup, derailing a vicious anti-Israel move that was on the verge of becoming law in the Republic of Ireland.  The Control of Economic Activity (Occupied Territories) Bill 2018 would make it a violation of Irish criminal law to purchase goods and services from Israeli companies based in Judea and Samaria and the Golan Heights. It would punish violators with up to five years in prison.  Independent senator Frances Black, who introduced the bill, has previously signed a letter calling for a boycott of all Israeli products and services."

This has really gotten my Jewish up!

Go Patriots!

I'm hoping Tom Brady and the Patriots win the Super Bowl by a large margin, silencing the people who are jealous of his success, his looks, his longevity, and his wife!

Read about the bet between the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the The Philadelphia Orchestra. "If the Eagles takes home the Lombardi, Nelsons will have to wear an Eagles jersey on the podium during a rehearsal next week. If New England wins, Nézet-Seguin will have to do the same while rocking the Patriots’ red, white and blue."

Release The Memo Already!

The longer it takes the Republicans to release this much-discussed but mysterious memo, the less trustworthy they seem. They should have released it first thing this morning instead of delaying.  Let's hope that it doesn't turn out to be much ado about nothing, which would be extremely embarrassing for the GOP and would only provide more ammunition for the Democrats.
