We Are The Borg! You Will Be Assimilated!

Victor Davis Hanson has a terrific column comparing Obama to The Borg from "Star Trek". I had made the same comparison recently, so I enjoyed reading this.  One of the commenters, KomradCal, says "Liberalism is itself the epitome of The Borg." and "Liberals believe they are independent thinkers but are more prone to GroupThink than any other collection of like-minded people on earth."

Quin Hillyer perfectly describes Obama's three typical gambits.

Propagandist-in-Chief

It's impossible to be a conservative in a world that's completely upside-down. I thought this was a joke when I saw this headline this morning: "Obama phones Collins, praises
him for admitting he´s gay."
Explain to me why you should receive a presidential call, or any congratulations at all, for forcing us to hear all about your sex life.

Also, read Quin Hillyer, who speaks for many in the silent majority when he says, "Leave me alone. Leave us all alone. I just don’t wanna. I don’t wanna write about whether to treat homosexual relationships as 'marriage,' and I don’t wanna see lawmakers do anything about it. Just a quarter century ago, just about nobody had even dreamed of such a thing as 'gay marriage.' Why don’t we leave the law alone as it is, leave people free to do what they want to do behind closed doors as long as no innocents get hurt (and as long as they don’t 'scare the horses') — and have everybody, including heterosexuals, stop talking in public about what they do in the realm of sex, or about with whom they do it? Paris Hiltons and Kim Kardashians of the world, stop putting your sex life on the Internet for all to see. Lena Dunham, get a life. Sandra Fluke, get a clue. Jason Collins, keep playing basketball and otherwise just shut up. We don’t need to know."

Subsidizing Terror

It's bad enough half the country is on welfare and food stamps, and we are also expecting 30 million illegal aliens to sign up.  We reward the worst behavior and the least work ethic.  But this takes the cake:  "The Tsarnaev family, including the suspected terrorists and their parents, benefited from more than $100,000 in taxpayer-funded assistance — a bonanza ranging from cash and food stamps to Section 8 housing from 2002 to 2012, the Herald has learned."  Let's hope this is the straw that finally breaks the entitlement camel's back.

Biography of Allan Sherman

This is one book I'll have to look for: "Overweight Sensation: The Life & Comedy of Allan Sherman", by Mark Cohen.

The "New Normal" is Abnormal!

Like I have been, Bill Kristol is against the "new normal" , the excuse being used to explain away the failures of the Obama presidency. Read his whole column, which starts off this way:
"Are you alarmed by the counterterrorism failures increasingly evident as we learn more about the Boston terror attack? Don’t be. Former CIA director Michael Hayden has helpfully explained, 'This tragedy is the new normal.'
"Are you surprised that a whole city was ordered to 'shelter in place' as one 'knockoff jihadi,' in Vice President Biden’s term, roamed the streets? Don’t be. It’s the new normal. Are you shocked by the Obama administration’s dissembling in response to terror attacks in Benghazi? Don’t be naïve. It’s the new normal. Are you worried that the president proclaims “red lines” to deter dictators from, e.g., using chemical weapons, then does nothing to enforce them? Don’t be unsophisticated. As Rep. Adam Smith, ranking Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee, explained, 'The president said it was a red line. What the president never said was what that meant exactly.” It’s the new normal. Are you startled that the commander in chief accepts defense cuts that the president’s own defense secretary said would be 'devastating' and 'a disaster' and 'would inflict severe damage to our national defense'? Don’t be foolish. It’s the new normal.
"And do you think, back home, that we might do better than slow economic growth, high long-term unemployment, mountains of debt, and a massive health care reform that’s a 'train wreck,' in the felicitous term of the Democratic chairman of the Senate Finance Committee who helped shepherd it through Congress? Didn’t you get the memo? It’s all the new normal."

Arms and the Woman

This is not a joke:  "Women opting for surgery to get Michelle Obama's arms." I wonder if Obamacare is going to fully cover this necessary procedure. (via Lucianne.com)

Linked By Sorrow

Here are some of the reactions of the 9/11 families to the Boston Marathon bombings.

Hilarity at the WH Correspondents Dinner

According to this review,  "The president noted that he attended the dedication of the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum a few days earlier and said he was beginning to think about his own. He said he was contemplating putting up a structure next to Bush's, then showed a picture on a video screen of the Blame Bush Library, with a billboard pointing to the new library in Texas and the words 'His Fault.'" As the saying goes, many a true word was spoken in jest.
Ed Lasky has his own ideas for an Obama Presidential Library.

It reads like a detective story, but this is a great article about the Rosenberg family and their quest to retrieve the art stolen from them by the Nazis.

Terrorism and the Damage Done

The headline of this article is: "THE GHOST OF 9/11: Discovery of hijacked plane's landing gear 2 blocks away from memorial, behind the controversial ‘Ground Zero mosque’ brings renewed heartache to victims' families".  This find gives lie to the old excuses about "closure" in terrorist attacks like this. The September 11 attacks happened 12 years ago, and still the survivors and the families of the dead have to live with this horror.  So please, stop trying to explain away the aftermath of murderous terrorism, whether in Benghazi, or Boston, or New York,  because it just doesn't work.

Trivia Time

Here's some "Wizard of Oz" trivia via Mental Floss.

"Empathy" for Terrorists

Every day brings some new revelation. I can't even imagine how anyone can feel like this:  "In the opinion section of Wednesday’s Boston Globe, Joanna Weiss asks here readers if they feel empathy for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who is suspected along with his brother of the Boston Marathon terror attacks that killed three and wounded 282 on Patriots Day, April 15.
'Some recoil at the idea of equating him with a victim,' Weiss writes for the paper’s Boston.comment page. 'But is empathy different from sympathy? Does it make us hopelessly naive, or simply human?' Despite being suspected of heinous acts, Weiss set up the question by presenting Dzhokhar Tsarnaev as an everyday 19-year-old kid." The only ones who deserve empathy are the victims of terrorism. Only other murderers, terrorists, and bleeding-heart liberals could possibly empathize with killers. This is like asking Americans if we empathized with the 9/11 hijackers, or with the kamikaze pilots at Pearl Harbor!

(If you need a break after reading and hearing outrageous things like this on a daily basis, check out the website calm.com.)

Why America Slept

America seems to be deliberately sleeping despite all the evidence of Muslim terrorism.  How else can you explain the rush to Mirandize the Boston bomber, and Gov. Patrick's refusal to turn over Tsarnaev's welfare files because it will invade the killer's privacy?!  Look at the people demonstrating in his support!  Why don't we ever see Muslims marching to denounce terrorism instead, or opening their mosques to show they aren't hiding weapons there?  How many innocent people will have to die and be maimed with life-altering and expensive medical treatments before people wake up here and get angry enough to change things without fear of political correctness?  America will continue to sleep until there's another September 11, and that day seems sooner rather than later as long as you have spineless appeasers running our government.

Lots 'o Links

Check out these posts at Maggie's Farm, Larwyn's Linx, and Betsy's Page.  It's not only that they link to interesting news morsels; it's also that when it looks like the Obamaworld has gone crazy (usually every day), it's nice to check out these blogs and realize I'm not the only one who's angry about it.

Five Presidents at the Bush Library

"It was an emotional moment for Mr. Bush, coming four years after leaving office with historic low poll numbers. Bathed in the admiration of his former team and his presidential peers, he recalled the goals that guided his time in office and choked up as he finished his speech. Sitting down to applause, he smiled and wiped tears from his eyes."

(Notice that the NY Times just had to mention the poll numbers. Bush was a good president and decent man who loved his country and kept it safe, which is more than I can say for Obama, the Destroyer-in-Chief!)

Here are some great photos from today's library dedication, and here's photos of other events where the living presidents all got together.

Heads in the Jihadist Sand

I was applauding during Dennis Miller's rant on "The O'Reilly Factor" last night. It was about time we heard someone show outrage for the coddling of terrorists in general and the Boston bombers in particular.  Watch for yourself.
And read about how they are treating the captured terrorist as if he is a petty criminal, not a terrorist, even after hearing they were going to attack NYC.  It's an open invitation to other terrorists, and it's beyond comprehension.

Argus Hamilton Quips

Argus Hamilton writes, "Boston bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was taken by ambulance to Beth-Israel hospital in Boston after his discovery. He's a Muslim terrorist who's recovering in a Jewish hospital. The Jewish people have survived for five thousand years but no one can figure out how."
See the rest of his column here.

Terrorism Made Simple!

No wonder the terrorists are inspired to kill us. Not only are they excused and forgiven by the Americans they hate, and not only is political correctness more important than speaking up against radical Islam,
but they can get welfare benefits while plotting to maim and kill! What a country!

Canadian Humor

 ...and common sense! (via Overlawyered)

George W. Bush Week

I'm very happy to see some nice articles about President George W. Bush leading up to the dedication of his library this week.  Some people seem surprised that there's anything good to say about this man, but you can be sure that on Thursday, when all the living presidents meet in Texas, President Bush will be more gracious to them than they have ever been to him.

Outrage of the Day

From the Boston Herald: "Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev is likely to avoid the death penalty, could entirely avoid a trial and in the hands of the right lawyer might win a modicum of mercy, argued top-ranked defense attorneys who have represented some of the nation’s most notorious terrorists and killers. 'We know he’s 19 years old, we don’t think he has a criminal record or been in trouble before. There are a lot of people out there that seem to have warm, positive things about him,' said Tamar Birckhead, whose client, Richard Reed, tried to blow an airliner out of the sky but got life by copping a plea. 'To predict he’ll get a life sentence is not unreasonable.'"  What's unreasonable is that he killed and maimed people, yet his defenders  (and defenders of terrorists in general) act as if he merely played a harmless prank.  Why is there a rush to shrug off the murder of children and the maiming of people on American soil? These killers deserve no mercy, just the death penalty.

Going Overboard With Political Correctness

Do people actually think this way?  "Is this the end of the 'master bedroom'? How home builders are scrapping 'racist' and 'sexist' term on floorplans". 'Master' bedroom means main bedroom, not slave master bedroom, you idiots!

Last Words

This letter from Wallace Hartley on the Titanic has sold for£93,000 ($138,000) at auction. It says ""We have a fine band & the boys seem very nice. I have had to buy some linen & I sent my washing home today by post. I shall probably arrive home on the Sunday morning." As we all know, he went down with the ship while bravely playing till the end.

Apologizing to Muslims

What Geraldo Rivera wrote is pandering, pure and simple. What kind of Americans apologize to Muslims after enduring a deadly terrorist attack in our own country? This is just disgusting. If anything, they should be apologizing to US!

Willful Blindness Over Terrorism

Read this column by Daniel Greenfield (who writes the Sultan Knish blog), on the "enemedia"'s denial of Islamic terrorism as the motive in the Boston bombing. Of course, they denied that in Benghazi, of course, and in the Fort Hood attack, too, and they are still denying it in the latter, preferring to call it "workplace violence."  The liberal media and their politically correct followers are nothing but appeasers.

Also check out Howie Carr, who calls a spade a spade in his Boston Herald column.

The Jews of Poland

Read this interview with Jakub Gutenbaum, a survivor of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising.  The BBC discusses "the forgotten history"  of Poland's Jews.  The Jews themselves haven't forgotten it, that's for sure, since 90% of the Jewish population was exterminated!

Some Comments on This Last Week

What President George W. Bush said in his Joint Address to Congress after September 11 is still pertinent today: "Great harm has been done to us. We have suffered great loss. And in our grief and anger we have found our mission and our moment. Freedom and fear are at war. The advance of human freedom -- the great achievement of our time, and the great hope of every time -- now depends on us. Our nation -- this generation -- will lift a dark threat of violence from our people and our future. We will rally the world to this cause by our efforts, by our courage. We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail."

We also will not fail to speak up and speak out against Islamic terrorism despite the disapproval of our liberal friends, and despite hearing about typical liberal headlines like this: "Boston Bombing Suspects' Muslim Identity Provides Few Clues To Motivation For Bombing." (Via American Digest)

We will not fail to defiantly display our patriotism, and we will not care if it's "offensive" to non-Americans.  This is our country, so if you hate us and hate America, feel free to leave!

This is from Robert Spencer at Jihad Watch: "However, nothing is more certain than that next week, Islamic supremacist and Leftist spokesmen will be featured on NBC and CNN decrying 'racism' and an imagined 'backlash' against innocent Muslims, which is always a feature of mainstream media coverage after a jihad attack, even though the 'backlash' itself never actually materializes. And there will be no accountability for that nonsense, either. Nowadays, it’s much more of a path to success to be politically correct than to be correct."

We who have never kowtowed to, or made excuses for, radical Muslim killers, are affected by Islamonausea. (Per Nicolai Sennels at Jihad Watch).

Let's reiterate:  the Achilles Lauro, the Rome airport bombings, the hijacking of TWA Flight 847, the 1998 African embassies bombings, the first World Trade Center bombing, Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland,  the Khobar Towers, the USS Cole, the September 11 attacks, the Bali bombings, the July 7 London bombings, the 2005 Jordan "wedding bombings", and on and on; and now the Boston bombings. What do they have in common? People quickly forget these traumatic attacks. Let's keep reminding them.

WAR ON TERROR

This is war, and if people still don't understand the kind of terrorism we are facing, just put the TV on.  The excuses and kowtowing stop now.

Nightmare In Boston - is it Over or Just Beginning?

Please don't let this turn out to be the work of college students. Terrorists I can understand; this I can't. When I heard this news just now on the radio and then on TV, I thought of Officer Tippitt and what happened after that. Whatever this is -- between the Marathon bombings, the Texas explosion, and now this -- it's been a nightmarish week.

Lots 'o Links

There's so much news to keep up with this week! Check out Betsy's Page, Larwyn's Linx, and Maggie's Farm.  One of Larwyn's links is titled "What Does It Smell Like To You?"  Well, right away it reeked strongly of terrorism to me, so I will be very surprised if this turns out to be the work of disgruntled employees or anyone else.

Faces of Evil

Displaying Our Patriotism

Wasn't this wonderful, the crowd at the Boston Bruins game singing "The Star Spangled Banner"?  I liked how the singer, recognizing the emotion, let the fans take over. It's a shame scenes like this are surprising and make headlines. This scene should have been the norm since September 11, and of course, for a while, "God Bless America" became the rally cry at sports games. But we should display our patriotism every day rather than just after terrorist attacks on our country and on our citizens. I hope it continues.

Waiting For Justice

I agree with columnist Howie Carr when he says that the death penalty is the only justice for the Boston Marathon terrorist bomber.  You know there will be excuses and delays -- look how long it took before the Unabomber and Timothy McVeigh were executed; and the 9/11 defendants still haven't even been tried yet.  It won't bring back the dead, and it won't restore the limbs of the victims, but it's the only message that cold-blooded, vicious murderers like this understand. By being politically correct or weak, we're just encouraging more attacks by those individuals or groups who have no conscience or who love the spotlight.

Good Riddance!

Headline: Republicans pull plug on Mark Sanford.  Wise decision by the Republicans, who don't need this albatross around their necks.  The Dems should pull the plug on Anthony Weiner, but then again, he will probably be elected Mayor anyway.

Pat Summerall: What a Voice!

If Curt Smith ever wrote a football version of "Voices of the Game", he'd have to include the great Pat Summerall. Unlike today's announcers who talk too much on TV and describe everything as if you are blind, he was wonderfully understated.

Still Fighting Back

Look at these photos from the Warsaw Ghetto uprising, 70 years ago this month.

Tax and Spend

Gary Varvel has a new income tax strategy!

Afraid to Call It Terrorism

I can't over the fact that nobody is calling it "terrorism". Last night, officials were going into contortions trying to find other words and explanations. I finally had to turn off the TV and find distant AM radio stations that didn't tell you you were wrong to suspect Middle Eastern terrorists. Thank goodness for the Internet! Two good sources of information, among others, are the Drudge Report and Jihad Watch.

Today, in public, nobody has mentioned yesterday's attacks at all, and I can only assume they are either too politically correct to use the words, or so liberal they actually think it's anything but terrorism.  It's outrageous when, even after 9/11, you still have to watch what you say!

Political Correctness & Appeasement Not Welcome Here

It makes me angry to be told to "stop jumping to conclusions" about Muslim extremists while liberals are permitted to jump to conclusions and blame the Republicans, the Tea Party, the NRA, and organized crime.
So this morning I was glad to hear Bill Bennett read parts of this column by Joe Fitzgerald of the Boston Herald:

"Did that shock you? Of course it did. But it should have infuriated you, too, because on a day that was becoming another charming slice of what this city is all about, savages, attacking anonymously as cowards always do, turned the festive finish line into an instant war zone, randomly killing and maiming and terrorizing unsuspecting marathon fans as they were enjoying a sun-splashed afternoon.
"Does the word 'savages' bother you? Then guess what? You’re part of the problem America’s facing today, because no matter how loud liberal dolts may squeal, or how indignant it makes the ACLU, the inescapable truth emerging from yesterday’s bloodbath is that evil is a reality, not a theological myth."

"Some shrink will try to explain how their neurosis mitigates their culpability, while some whore with a law degree will scheme to free them on a technicality. The anguish of the victims? It’ll be forgotten. All that will matter will be the showering of rights upon the perpetrators. Welcome to Massachusetts. If nothing changes, nothing changes.
It’s not complicated. Evil need not be understood. It simply needs to be eliminated, by any means necessary. That’s the only way to honor those lives that were savaged yesterday, and the only way we will begin to rebuild the America we once knew."

We've heard and read all this before -- and yet we are told to stop using our common sense. These terrorists attacks are infuriating enough, but the
continued stifling of normal reactions enrages me.

How's this for clueless and self-absorbed?  "Justin Bieber has caused outrage with his message in a guestbook at the Anne Frank Museum, saying he hoped the Holocaust victim would have been a fan."  Obviously Anne was more mature for her age than Justin Bieber is for his.  Here's a look at some of the photos she had on her wall.

"Jews Are Evil"

Townhall calls it "appalling": "A New York state high school English teacher who asked students to imagine they were Nazis and give reasons why Jews were evil could be reprimanded or dismissed, a school district superintendent said on Friday."  What's also appalling is that the teacher herself hasn't apologized and wasn't even named, and that excuses are being made, such as this one in a New York Times article: "Rabbi Donald P. Cashman of the B’nai Sholom Reform Congregation, the father of three Albany High graduates, was more forgiving. 'Hypothetical situations are often effective teaching tools,' he said, and debating positions one may not believe in can also be valuable."   I wonder if excuses would be made if that teacher told the students to imagine they were slave-owners and give reasons why blacks should be their property.

Baseball Ups & Downs

This triple play by the New York Yankees helped make up for that disgraceful Dodgers-Padres brawl.

Abortion Rights

There's more being reported on the internet about the butcher "Doctor" Gosnell, including here and here. Someone should also point out that there'd be no need for such so-called services if so many women weren't flocking to him for late-term abortions in the first place!  It's an obscenity, and they're equally guilty.

The Golfing Obama

Well, well! It looks the only people who have been "royally cheated" are the golf fans!  The pundits have been shouting and screaming and making excuses on this disqualification or penalty story all morning. If it's possible for Tiger Woods to do so, he should either accept the penalty gracefully (the way the Chinese 14 year old did), or disqualify himself. This is the Masters, and the story should be about the honor of playing at Augusta, and about the whole field of golfers, not just about him or about the TV ratings! Whoever ends up winning the green jacket will be totally overshadowed by this, and that's a real shame.

Self-Destructive Jews

Here's a distressing column by Caroline Glick titled "Must we continue to be enablers of our own destruction?Read it and pass it on.  She discusses recent disgraceful examples of political correctness and moral relativism, saying "Moral relativism is based on a refusal to call evil evil and a concomitant willingness to denigrate truth if truth requires you to notice evil. Since pointing out the reality of the danger the jihadist doctrines propagated by the likes of the Muslim Brotherhood involves the implicit demand that people make distinctions between good and evil and side with good against evil, moral relativists - that is most liberals -- cannot contend with jihad." and  "The danger exposed by the cancellation of Geller's speech and the conferral of honors on the likes of Carter and Waters by mainstream Jewish institutions is daunting. If moral relativism remains the dominant dogma of the American Jewish establishment, the already weakly defended, but still strongly rooted support for Israel among the rank and file of the American Jewish community will dissipate."

Goodbye To A Veteran

Here's a touching story.  (The despicable people celebrating Margaret Thatcher's death by making "Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead" a hit anthem should read it to learn about human decency.)

The Masters

Forgive me if I don't root for Tiger Woods to win the Masters. He's not fit to shine Jack Nicklaus' shoes.

I wanted to use the Mute button when, after he hit the pin and landed in the water, the tingling announcers declared he had been "royally cheated."

What Belongs on Page One

Kirsten Powers is absolutely right when she talks about the disgraceful media, and how nobody is reporting that Philadelphia abortion "doctor".  Unfortunately, more Americans know about Jodi Arias than they do about Keith Gosnell. If the story doesn't fit the Democratic ideology, it's not news.

Viewing the Holocaust

I came across these Holocaust photos through World Jewish Daily. They "emphasize the dignity and defiance of survivors." The pictures of the survivors performing in the concentration camps reminded me of a family story. A relative was spared the gas chamber after a Nazi heard her sing "Eli, Eli". Of course, seeing these scenes doesn't make me hate the Nazis any less.

Celebs in the News

Here's an item from the Media Research Center about the news coverage of Beyoncé's Cuban jaunt which, to those of us who grew up with the offenses of Fidel Castro's Cuba and other Communist regimes, is reprehensible. It's like Americans vacationing in Vietnam. The Obamamedia finds nothing objectionable about their trip, and I'm sure they found nothing objectionable in Dennis Rodman's trip to N.Korea.  Also, Lindsay Lohan and her self-destructive life have gotten more attention than Margaret Thatcher's death.  I guess it's better to fill the airwaves with low celebrity trivia than to actually discuss the sad moral state of our country and our citizens.

It Never Ends

These reports of antisemitism are from 75 and 100 years ago. This report is from yesterday: "Vandals burn mezuzahs in Brooklyn building."  Notice this amazing statement: "Police investigating whether act was fueled by anti-Semitism".   This is like wondering whether the Benghazi attacks on September 11 were an act of terrorism.

The Disarming Obama

Thanks for disarming people and emasculating men so that you can't fight back when these things happen! Will you and your supporters attack the knife manufacturers next?
(Whenever I hear these stories, I think of Sean Connery's line in "The Untouchables": "You wanna get Capone? Here's how you get him. He pulls a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue! That's the Chicago way, and that's how you get Capone!")

Holocaust Remembrance Day

Today is, and every day should be, Holocaust Remembrance Day. Here's a National Geographic article similar to the one in the New York Times that shows that the scope of the Holocaust was even worse than anyone imagined.
Also, here's a report on the March of the Living, visiting the sites of Nazi concentration camp atrocities in Poland.

A Great Woman: Margaret Thatcher

I was lucky to have seen Margaret Thatcher in action. She and Ronald Reagan, "political soulmates", were staunch conservatives and capitalists, and strong anti-communists, and we will never see their kind again. We could sure use Mrs. Thatcher today!  (I actually heard Hillary Clinton compared with her this morning. There is no comparison.)

A Great Read

Want to read a great biography? I just finished the third volume of William Manchester's "The Last Lion", about Winston Churchill, the best read I've had since Robert Caro's "The Passage of Power". The first book I ever read by Manchester was "The Death of a President" decades ago.

Something To Look Forward To

Victor Davis Hanson discusses life after Obama.  Among other things, "The next president will jettison the sort of class warfare that has led only to short-term political gain and long-term polarization. Obama's 'fat cats' and 'one percenters' will disappear from the presidential vocabulary. We will hear no more accusations that the successful really did not build their own businesses, or that they should have known when it was time not to profit because they had made quite enough money. Expect just the opposite: a Bill Clinton-like schmoozing of small businesses to please start buying, hiring and expanding again."  Of course, this assumes that the next president won't be a liberal Democrat!

Tales From The Holocaust

You think you have a tough life? How would you like to have hidden from the Nazis this way?  Every time I read and hear these stories, you wonder how Holocaust-deniers can think we made the whole thing up. Who could possibly invent such things?

Here's an article from the UK Guardian about music in the Theresienstadt concentration camp.

The Fantasy World of Barack Obama

Instapundit has some good links about the lousy jobs numbers (which I'm sure must have been unexpected).  I can only hope that the article in American Interest is sarcastic, although you can never be sure these days:  "We are, however, thrilled that we don’t have a Republican in the White House, because if we did, the press would be incessantly yammering about this bad news until we were all sick of it. As it is, they are likely to say as little as possible about what appears to be a massive failure of economic policy and go back to covering the really important issues, like gay marriage." There are people who actually do feel this way!

(By the way, don't worry about the economy. You should feel better knowing that you have a sex symbol as President.)

Navigating Obamacare

Do you believe this?  Paul Bedard announces that "Tens of thousands of health care professionals, union workers and community activists hired as 'navigators' to help Americans choose Obamacare options starting Oct. 1 could earn $20 an hour or more, according to new regulations issued Wednesday."  Idiots! You wouldn't have to pay people to fill out your Obamaforms for you if Congress had explained Obamacare before they passed it!  Those individuals who demanded free health care in the first place ought to at least have the decency to fill out the forms themselves! Even better, they should order the Obamacare Survival Guide for $10, which is a lot less that what they will be paying these enablers and indoctrinators.

(Do they have "navigators" when you sign up for Medicare? Somehow, I doubt it.)

New York State of Mind

According to Andrea Peyser,  homeless shelters are all the rage in New York. "All a man or woman needs to do to score free, no-strings-attached housing is demand it. No official may ask if the 'homeless’ person has another home. No one may ask if he/she even comes from New York. (About 25 percent zoom here from other states — or abroad.)" I have a feeling that percentage will be increasing very soon.

Gee, this might be an even better deal than Obama's reintroduction of the subprime mortgage nonsense!

Lots o' Links

It's time for more good reading over at Maggie's Farm, at Betsy's Page, and at Larwyn's Linx.

Plus, take a look at this pink slip for owners of small businesses. I love it!

Steamed Rice

What good is an apology after the fact?  It's too late for that -- the damage has already been done. The only thing Mike Rice is sorry for is being exposed and getting fired.

Embarrassing Stats

See the Drudge Report today for new poverty statistics.  The UK Daily Mail's headline is "U.S. sees highest poverty spike since the 1960s, leaving 50 million Americans poor as government cuts billions in spending... so does that mean there's no way out?" Well, there was a way out in November, when these same poor Americans could have voted for Romney! Instead, they reelected the man who promised them free stuff -- and now look where it's gotten them!
And look where it's gotten the rest of us. We will have to pay even higher taxes now to support all these people, including all the millions of illegal aliens Obama's welcoming, and I resent it. He will use these reports to talk about the evil rich and the Republicans who starve children. Naturally none of this is his fault.
He continues to claim the economy is booming. But even MarketWatch, which is usually a cheerleader for Obama, has some discouraging headlines this morning.
Welcome to "the new normal" -- a weaker America.

Antisemitism in Holland

I guess we really shouldn't be surprised by this Barry Rubin report on antisemitism in Holland:  "Here’s the bottom line: Given the fact that this hatred is endemic among Dutch Muslims; and given the fact that their proportion and influence in the country is increasing; and given the fact that there are literally no countervailing forces, is this viewpoint going to increase or decrease? Obviously, the former.
Even in the Dutch mass media there are shocking things written on a regular basis about Jews and Israel. If one cannot depend on the Netherlands to defeat this trend, there’s nobody who’s going to do better."

Animal of the Day

How is this for sheer nerve? "Steven Smith, Man Who Sexually Assaulted Six-Month Baby To Death, Seeks Mercy From Death Penalty".  This subhuman excuse for a man killed the infant in 1998, so he has already lived 15 years longer than he should have. He showed no mercy to a helpless baby, so why on earth should he be given any?

Tingling Time!

The Republicans had better find themselves a strong, conservative candidate for 2016 to contend with  liberal nonsense like this:  "Chris Matthews Gushes: Hillary in 2016 Will Have the Most Impressive Bio Since General Eisenhower".

A Real Snooze

Andrea Peyser comments on what passes for "art" at MOMA: actress Tilda Swinton sleeping in a glass box.  The columnist refers to the visitors as "cultural sheep".

Still, I'd rather see that than this:  "Outrage at 'Jew in the box' exhibition in Berlin museum where participant sits in glass cage for hours answering questions".

N is for Nanny State

I love this Child's First Book of Government Regulations, from Doug Ross @ Journal.
