One World Trade Center

Look at these photos of the new World Trade Tower. Some of them are eerily familiar. But I hope the murderous Muslims have gotten the message: you can attack us, but you can't keep us down.

Supporting Our Troops

I thought that this Wounded Warrior bike ride was a wonderful thing. President Bush has always loved and respected our troops, and the feeling is mutual.

Look at these beautiful aerial photographs.

The Disaster That is Barack Obama

Think these past 4 years have been a disaster? You ain't seen nothing yet. William L. Gensert presents the case against an Obama second term. Here's an excerpt.
"A second term for Barack Obama will be a tragedy. His farcical first term barely hinted at the disaster awaiting America in Barack II. Hobbled by a staggering lack of judgment and competence, and his ever-present reticence to make decisions that might impede his re-election, his first despicable term was a joke, despite a dearth of mirth. If given four more years without worry of electoral reprisal, he will wreak havoc upon the nation in ways that Barack, back in Barack I, only dreamed of. In 2008, Obama hoped the audacity of pretending to believe in America would propel him to the presidency, and he was right. If re-elected, Barack Obama will finally have the luxury of being himself, and that is something that should terrify every American. To detect the direction of Obama's next term, one need only examine select decisions from his first. The deliberate demise of America's space program is one. Any future triumph for NASA, because of its well-documented previous success, would have never been credited to Barack's brilliance. And in America today, there is simply no room for any victory that does not belong solely to Barack Obama. It had to go. Sure, he routinely claims the success of others, but selling the space program as all-Barack would have been a stretch, even for the man who Michelle Obama has said "led us out of the darkness into the light." Defense is another example of what an Obama second term will look like. After strangling bin Laden with his bare hands, and singlehandedly ending terror worldwide, and with the tide of war ebbing, he has come to the conclusion the nation doesn't need a defense. Besides, no matter how much he spends, or how powerful our armed forces remain or become, he will never get credit, because the heroes of America's military are the men and woman who volunteer to stand on that wall, ever-vigilant, so that demagogues like Barack Obama can be successful, while despising them and the sacrifice they make for their country. The F-22 may be the most advanced fighter in the world, but how would Barack take credit for that? Better to cancel it and spend the money winning a future "built to last." Our president wants total control over government, to exercise total control over all the little people. He knows what is best for them. No expense is too great for the nation to realize Barack Obama's dream of saving people from too much freedom. He'll spend any amount of money to remake the country in his own image, but he balks at spending money for the things government can actually do better, like space travel and defense. Calling four more years of Barack Obama a tragedy for America, and perhaps the world, may very well be an understatement. Since his inauguration, every pronouncement, legislative action, executive order, or regulatory fiat has been a veritable disaster for the nation. He has been so successful at being unsuccessful that it borders on hilarity...or is that Hillary? Never mind...I digress. He once said "they talk about me like a dog." With recent revelations, the nation should wonder what he meant...sorry, another digression. His failures are legion, his miscues legendary. History will see his first term as a running gag, with no one laughing, plenty of people gagging, and everyone running for his life. The laugh is on us, because despite the unmitigated disaster of Obama's first term, there are still people who will vote for him.
And those people are the ones who see him either as a cash cow (remember the "stash") or as a fellow radical. The rest of us just don't want our lives and our country further destroyed.

Watcher's Council

Here are the winners of the Earth Day edition Watcher's Council nominations.

Text Till You Drop

A friend sent me this ridiculous story, and of course I voted no in the accompanying poll. It's about movie theatres allowing moviegoers to text during films. The reasoning is priceless: "..it might be beneficial to allow texting during the film because it would get more people in the seats who might have previously felt alienated. Especially young people who are so used to being plugged in and always accessible and who might feel actual anxiety at not being allowed to look at their phones for two hours." There's something wrong if you "feel alienated" because you can't use your cell phone! Why should businesses cave in to idiots? And why bother going to the movies at all if you're not going to pay attention?

Desperate in the White House

You know Obama is desperate when he has to resort to calling Romney boring compared to himself being "cool". I'd rather have a boring competent President than a supposedly "cool" one who has deliberately destroyed his own country! (Speaking of boring, check out the towns of Dull and Boring, as seen at Metafilter.)

A New Melody

Melody Gardot is a singer I've never heard of. But Liz Smith raved about her so much in today's column that I had to see for myself.

Jewish Paraprosdokians

A paraprosdokian is a figure of speech in which the 2nd part of a sentence is not what you expected after the first part. Go read this article to see 50 examples, including this one: “Joshua, your girlfriend, words can’t express. So bring me the Tums.”

Happy Birthday, Israel!

In an excellent article, Michal Toiba lists 10 reasons Arabs should celebrate Israel. (The only thing they'd celebrate is Israel's destruction!)

Stupid, Drunk, but Germ-Free

Brace yourself. Thanks to some idiots, we will probably have to show ID to buy hand sanitizer! Or else stores can lock it up along with the Tide and the Drano.

A Man-Caused Disaster in the White House

"The war on terror is over". This brilliant comment isn't a belated April Fool's joke -- it's from the Obama administration. Sounds more like aiding and abetting terrorism to me. Cal Thomas writes,
"If the war is over, I must have missed the peace treaty signing ceremony. I also haven't noticed a decline in incendiary rhetoric, or the disarmament -- or at least laying down of arms -- that usually accompanies the end of war. Does this mean we can do away with full-body scanners and TSA pat-downs? Those who believe the war against radical Islamists is over never really believed we were fighting one. Each time they have been proven wrong in their denial -- the land-for-peace formula between Israel and her enemies is just one example among many -- they have simply moved on to the next level of denial. Now they have reached rock bottom with nowhere else to go and are telling us we can live with Islamism."

Compare & Contrast

I would find anyone's Holocaust Remembrance Day speech more sincere than Obama's!

Non-Anti-Semitic Anti-Semites of the Day

This is a new one on me. "Non-Jew Has Right to Sue Over Anti-Semitic Comments". Seems his first name was Myron, and his lowlife co-workers assumed he was Jewish! Now the last laugh's on him.

Enabling Weakness

Arnold Ahlert discussesour nation's character -- or what's left of it. He ends by saying,
"In a time when most Americans had some sense of self-respect, a man appealing to peoples' baser instincts under the banner of social justice would be recognized for the charlatan he truly is. Perhaps that's what is at stake in 2012: whether a majority of Americans still retain any sense of self-respect and dignity, or whether they can be convinced that whatever goes wrong in their lives is someone else's fault.
Americans have always been their brother's keeper. Whether they are willing to be their brother's enabler — to the point of national suicide — remains to be seen."
This is one of the many things that are at stake, and he's absolutely right about it.

Achievement is Politically Incorrect

Neal Boortz reports: "Teachers in New York are being told not to publicly congratulate students who have been accepted into Ivy League colleges.  It might hurt the feelings of the students who didn’t make it." Enough with the hurt feelings already!  How about celebrating success more?

How Shocking!

If this isn't a perfect Darwin Award candidate, I don't know what is: "An Indiana man died overnight, after coming into contact with the electrified third rail as he urinated on the Purple Line ‘L’ tracks in Evanston."

The War Against Workers

Rather than reining in their out-of-control spending,  Democrats now want to tax our 401(k) plans to bring in revenue!

The Destruction of America: A Video Presentation

Sadly, well said! Here is a must-see video via American Digest.  Please pass it along to anyone who, like you, is worried about the fate of American under Obama.
(It would be a waste of time to send it to liberals, so don't even bother.)

That's Perfect!

On ESPN radio, John Kincade actually said he thought the Seattle Mariner fans were traitors for rooting for the White Sox's perfect game winner Philip Humber.  "Traitors" they're not; baseball fans who recognize a historic event, they are!

Happy 100th Birthday, Fenway Park!

This is a very nostalgic article about the great old Red Sox, and the tragic Tony Conigliaro, whose autobiography, "Seeing It Through", I must have read 5 times as a kid. Those Red Sox should have won the World Series, the Bosox of the 60s and 70s -- Yaz and Rico and Tony C, George Scott and Sonny Siebert, Bob Montgomery, Mike Andrews, Sparky Lyle, and many more.  You can check out many more Fenway links at Metafilter.

A Liberating Moment in History

Happy Days Aren't Here Again

These charming stories are at Drudge today. Notice a trend here?
GOV'T: Food Stamp Rolls Explode By 70%...
Record 5.4 Million Sign Up For Disability Under Obama...
Growing movement of squatters in USA...
Obama can't blame Bush for this. The difference between Republicans and Democrats is that Republicans find news like this embarrassing evidence of American reliance on government; Democrats find this a good thing and want even more dependence on government.
(Oh, and here's more evidence of con artistry in action. This is workers comp run amuck -- look for it in a workplace near you.)

How To Win Friends and Influence Voters

Since Obama has no achievements to run on (except for killing Bin Laden), all he can do is use class warfare and try bribing the electorate! For instance: "The Obama administration is looking for states that will experiment with unemployment insurance programs by letting people test a job while still receiving benefits." Oh, that will be a great success!

Bio of Caro

I've been reading Robert Caro's biographies for years, so it's nice to finally read a bit more about him rather than about his subjects for a change. Here's Chris Jones in Esquire, and Charles McGrath in the NY Times.

Antisemites as Victims

Jeff Jacoby writes about the anti-Semitic culture of victimhood: "The Jew-haters always see themselves as victims, and their victimhood becomes their license to persecute. It is a phenomenon as old as the pharaohs and as contemporary as Al Qaeda. Hitler took it to an unprecedented scale. But while Hitler died in 1945, genocidal Jew-hatred lives on."

Holocaustitis

There are many good articles today at Israel Hayom regarding Holocaust Remembrance Day, and this one is very disturbing. It seems that some people think we shouldn't talk about the Holocaust too much. In his column, Dan Margalit writes,
"These belittlers of the Holocaust would have us distance ourselves from the event and suppress its memory for our own good. So that we don't become too neurotic. So that we overcome our psychological trauma. So that we don't become too nationalistic, something they believe could undermine peace negotiations with the Palestinians."
These belittlers also happen to be Israelis.

I can at least expect this attitude coming from our enemies. But from our own people?

America's Icon: Dick Clark

Those of us who grew up with Dick Clark were mourning his loss today. He was such a decent, wholesome man, with no scandals or sleaze in his past, and we all remember watching "American Bandstand". I can hear the theme song now!

Animals of the Day

There is no punishment strong enough for this murderer: "A prosecutor says a woman has been charged with capital murder in the fatal shooting of a mother and the abduction of her newborn son outside a suburban Houston pediatric center."

These useless thugs murdered a homeless man...for $1! Now, here are four "youth" who could have gotten jobs, but who chose to kill instead.

Space Shuttle Discovery

The UK Daily Mail, which is mostly full of tabloid sleaze, often contains great photographs, such as these photos of space shuttle Discovery on her last mission.

Berlin in Russia

If you didn't know better, you'd think this was done in the United States. But as New York Social diary reports: "Someone sent me the following video that was made in Moscow of a group of young Muscovites suddenly dancing in a public area to Irving Berlin’s 'Puttin’ On the Ritz.'  It’s a great song. Fred Astaire sang it and danced to it, and before that an early radio singer named Harry Richman made it a hit. Astaire, however, claimed it with his dancing.  I turned on the vid out of curiosity to see what Russian young people would do with an all-American Irving Berlin song written in 1929 for a Broadway show.  Fantastic, is what it is. Watching it I was reminded of how when I was growing up we frequently heard political reference to the Russians are coming, the Russians are coming (to bomb us). Well, watching this, it looks like it turned out to be the other way around. If they said the Americans are coming, the Americans are coming – to Russia – that would have been more apt. "

Hoops Holler

On "Mike and Mike in The Morning", Greeny and Golic made fun of this incoherent basketball play-by-play. It was hilarious, especially when they tried to translate what David Locke was trying to convey at 20-21 seconds in.

Obama's Effect on America

Mark Steyn on the ridiculous "Buffett Rule": "Sometimes societies become too stupid to survive. A nation that takes Barack Obama's current rhetorical flourishes seriously is certainly well advanced along that dismal path." And Dick Cheney said: "I can't think of a time when I felt it was more important for us to defeat an incumbent president today with respect to Barack Obama. I think he has been an unmitigated disaster to the country". Both men are absolutely right, unfortunately.

Holocaust Remembrance

If you type in your own last name or a relative's last name on the Yad Vashem names database, it's stunning to see how many victims there were.
Here's a touching Holocaust report by Dr. Haim Shine.

Why You Can't Negotiate With Terrorists

Best headline of the day: "Elderly Terrorist Reduced to Sending Angry Letters: Abbas sends hate mail to Netanyahu and Israel, makes pointless demands, blames everyone else for lack of peace." The article goes on to say that "the Times of Israel published what it says is a near-final draft of the dreaded letter. If its report is accurate, it may well go down as one of the most embarrassing documents ever produced by an ostensibly reputable politician." (Well, I wouldn't call Abbas either "reputable" or "politician"!)

Media Compare & Contrast

I had not heard about this sickening attack before, and I'm wonderful why the media, Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson didn't immediately call for the arrests of these thugs. Does Obama think the victim could be his son?

Another Embarassment

They're calling the Secret Service prostitute scandal "a tremendous embarrassment to the U.S."  (Obama's election was the biggest embarrassment to the U.S.)   It's just another indication of how our country's reputation, our morals, and our standards have been declining in the last 4 years.

Titanic: 100 Years Ago Today

Here's an early report from the UK Guardian on April 15, 1912. And here's a good read from National Review, along with special Titanic coverage from the Southampton Daily Echo and the Halifax Chronicle Herald.
I saw a TV show about the Titanic with James Cameron and a panel of experts, and Cameron said he had never before thought of the amazing fact that the Titanic, unlike the Andrea Doria, Costa Concordia, and many other ships, had not capsized. Imagine how many more poor souls would have died if she had! Also, you always wonder how many people would have been rescued if the Californian had been able to come to Titanic's assistance.

I Still Love Lucy

The A.V. Club has a good article and asks "Why does I Love Lucy endure after all these years?" Why? Because it's genuinely funny and never had to resort to vulgarity for laughs. You can watch the reruns many times and still laugh at the candy factory, Cousin Ernie, "Slowly I turned", John Wayne's footprints, William Holden, and on and on. Years ago, whole families could watch a show together and not have to worry about 4-letter words, embarrassing topics, or adult themes. We didn't  analyze why characters acted the way they did, or look for politically incorrect actions or words -- we simply enjoyed and laughed.

Anti-Semite of the Day

This is an Archbishop, mind you:  "He went on to point out that the Jews did not suffer as much as the Germans did during the Holocaust."  (Oh, by the way, Mel Gibson's back in the news.)

Couldn't Happen to A Nicer Country

"North Korea rocket reportedly fails after launch". I wonder who or what they'll blame for this, and I bet the brainwashed, starving people there won't even mind that they will soon be wasting billions more to try again.

Stooping Very Low

Even for this shameless administration, the attack on Ann Romney was really beyond the pale. Jennifer Rubin writes, "Overnight President Obama’s faux 'war on women' attack on Mitt Romney blew up in his face. It is fitting that a gimmick should boomerang this quickly and this severely, maybe giving Romney the first big break of the race." When even a creep like Axelrod condemns the remarks, you know it's bad.

Putting Into Words How We Feel

This description of Obama's presidency is a must read.  Just one excerpt, but you have to read the whole thing:  "To him, Americans are morons, so intimidated by his brilliance that they will buy into his bull, become backers of Barack, and re-up on hope and change this November.  The secret to his success is that he is able to convince people that if they believe him and not what they see with their own eyes, they are geniuses, just like him."

Violins

Here's a touching article about violins in the Holocaust, which made me think of the "Why We Fight" episode of "Band of Brothers".   The violin-maker in this story lost 380 relatives in the Holocaust. (via WorldJewishDaily.com)

A Perfect Description

Who is the writer describing here?  "How does this man remain Prince Valiant, everyone swooning as the wondrous hero rides past on a shiny white horse? He doesn't. Not at this rate."  No, it's not Obama. It's Tiger Woods, the golfing Obama! Finally, after years of worship and adoration, the media is finally seeing him as he really is -- and it's not a nice sight. I couldn't be happier.

HA-Gaddah

Jonathan Tobin writes about how "Dems Turn Passover Into Obama Worship"
"The National Jewish Democratic Council has published a new version of the 'Four Questions' from the Haggadah that is a paean, not to the liberation of the Jews from Egypt, but to the wonders of Barack Obama, to whom the NJDC directs Americans to express thanks rather than their Creator."
Aren't liberals despicable?

Ozzie Guillen: Bigmouth

What’s there to “explain”? (This reminded me of Bill Clinton and how they'd say afterwards, "What he meant to say was...".) If you say you love and respect Fidel Castro, the meaning is crystal clear to me. You heard of Hanoi Jane? This is Havana Ozzie. These coaches and athletes should keep their mouths shut and stick to sports!

Titanic Jews

I always loved reading about Ida and Isador Straus.

7 More Reasons to Defeat Obama

Wynton Hall explains:
"Here are just seven economic facts that begin to capture the economic pain Americans are presently experiencing as they struggle to survive the ravages of the Obama economy:
1.  Every fifth man in America is out of a job.   Indeed, black male unemployment is now at the highest rate it has ever been since the U.S. government began collecting statistics on the subject in 1972.  Just 56.9 percent of black men over the age of 20 are now working.   Indeed, according to Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), one out of every six African Americans, male or female, are now unemployed.
2. Every seventh person you pass on the sidewalk now relies on food stamps.
3.  On the last day of President Bush's presidency, gas prices were $1.84 a gallon. Today under Obama, the average price of a gallon of gas costs $3.94.   Easter weekend in Catalina Island, California, drivers saw prices topping $7 a gallon.
4.  In 2006 and 2007, 90% of all college graduates found a job.  Under Obama, just 56% of college graduates are able to find a job.
5.  More than one in four U.S. homeowners are "under water" or owe more than their homes are worth.   The housing crisis has now destroyed $7 trillion in U.S. household wealth.  Another 9.5 million homes are still at risk of default, sparking what analysts believe will be a second wave of foreclosures in the months to come.
6.  President Obama has increased the national debt more in three years than President Bush did in eight.  Under Bush, the debt rose $4.899 trillion in eight years.  In three years, Obama has exploded the debt by $4.939 trillion.
7. A record 87,897,000 Americans are no longer in the labor force.   When the number of individuals who have stopped looking for a job and/or who are working part-time but desire full-time employment is included--a figure known as the "underemployment rate"--real unemployment stands at 19.1%.
As President Obama said in a speech a week ago, 'In three years we’ve begun to see what change looks like.'"
Need we say more?

Thrilling News for Lovers of Biography

"Baa Baa _________ Sheep"

Politically correct teachers like these are the ones who should feel sheepish! It never ends, does it?

A True Champion

Contrast the inexcusably disgraceful behavior of Tiger Woods with the character, deportment,  and sheer decency of Phil Mickelson, and it's clear to see who the real champion has always been.  I'm glad that the British papers say what the fawning American media won't say about "the golfing Obama".

Subsidizing Idleness

I agree with this column by Greg Crosby titled "Half of Us Support the Other Half".  He write,  "In this redistribution scheme, the people who work hard and earn a lot of money need to give a sizable portion of that money to those who do not work. This system works out nicely for those who don't work. For those who have worked hard to make their money, it's not so good. And by the way, it's a great way to kill ambition, creativity, and hard work in people. Why knock yourself out if the government is just going to take it away and give it to other people?" Why aren't more workers and taxpayers infuriated by this? Also, can wealthy, successful businessmen please stop apologizing and feeling guilty for the money they have earned through their hard work? In case they have been brainwashed by the Obama administration, success is a good thing!

PC Passover & Moral Equivalency

I have heard of these "alternative Haggadahs", and they infuriate me! Jonathan Tobin writes, "Other such attempts to make Haggadahs about immigration, the Labor movement or any other left-wing cause are less defensible. And using Passover to play partisan politics is simply pathetic. But the anti-Zionist group Jewish Voices for Peace (JVP) has now gone completely beyond the pale with a new version of Passover in which Israel is transformed into Egypt and the Palestinians have become the Jews."

Moron Barry

Marion Barry is proof that voters get what they deserve. Can you just imagine if Asians had said this about blacks?

Crime News

"Man, 78, recounts assault by 6 youths in E. Toledo". These animals are referred to as "children" in the article. Anyone who attacks an elderly man is not a "child" or a "youth" but a predator. And suddenly there's a private investigator who claims to know who "the real killer" is of Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman. If you believe this, I have a bridge to sell you.

Politically Correct Stupidity of the Day

I don't know who is worse: the idiots who complain, or the spineless administrators who cave in. Here's the latest: "Parents tell WFXT-TV (http://bit.ly/HfR02t) that children at Stall Brook Elementary in Bellingham were taught to sing 'We love the USA' instead of  'God Bless the USA' during the chorus of the popular 1984 Lee Greenwood song."  What is this, Nazi Germany?  I guess next they will change "God Bless America" to "We Love America."  Just shut up and sit down!

Hatred and Killing of Jews

Ben Stein has a good column about the hatred and killing of Jews: "If you wonder why the Jewish state of Israel believes that it is in deadly peril from an Iranian nuclear bomb, just look at history. People who truly hate Jews, who believe that Jews are not human in fact or are the spawn of the devil, will use any means they can to kill Jews. Questions of morality or retaliation do not enter into the matter at all. The Nazis were still using every tool at their disposal to murder every Jew in their grasp just days before the Reich collapsed."

Obama Vs. Nixon

Read Thomas Sowell
"Now there are different kinds of liars. If we must have lying Presidents of the United States, I prefer that they be like Richard Nixon. You could just look at him and tell that he was lying.
But Obama is much smoother. On this and on many other issues, you would have to know what the facts are to know that he is lying. He is obviously counting on the fact that, in this era of dumbed-down education, many people have no clue as to what the facts are.
He is also counting on something else — namely, that the pro-Obama media will not expose his lies....It would be hard to become nostalgic about Richard Nixon, who was forced to resign in disgrace. But at least you could tell when he was lying. Obama's lies are just as big but not as visible, and the media that exposed Nixon is covering for Obama."
Actually, it's an insult to Nixon to mention him and Obama in the same breath! Every single day, Obama says or does something that's infuriating, but using the friendly media and employing the race card are two advantages that Nixon never had. And the arrogance of the man is mind-boggling!

Chris Christie in Israel

A disgraceful headline about a friend of Israel. Can't they ever talk about Chris Christie without mentioning his weight? (And would they be so obsessed with it if he were a Democrat rather than a Republican?)

Greetings From Al Qaeda

They should drop dead!

576,000 Miles

I feel as if I have read this story before, but it's still worth repeating: "With nearly 600,000 miles behind her, Veitch, who will turn 94 in August, said she's taking the end of her time with 'Chariot' in stride. After all, she's had a good run: The last time she bought a car, gas cost 39 cents a gallon, Lyndon B. Johnson was in the White House and  'The Little Old Lady From Pasadena" was ruling the radio."

Obama In One Sentence

You have to read this analysis of Obama by Peter Wehner: "You might think that a man who is on track to have the worst jobs record of any president in the modern era and is presiding over the weakest economic recovery since the Great Depression — not to mention the first credit rating downgrade in American history, the longest stretch of high unemployment since the Great Depression, chronic unemployment that is worse than the Great Depression, a housing crisis that is worse than the Great Depression, a standard of living for Americans that has fallen further and more steeply than at any time since the government began recording it five decades ago, and a record increase in the number of people who are in poverty — would be a little more careful when it came to lecturing the rest of us when it comes to what works in economics."

A Musical Passover

Here is the Passover story, tunefully brought to you by Aish.

April Fools

Here's to the biggest fool, Obama, and to all the fools who voted for him in 2008 and will vote for him like sheep again this year, for a President who denegrates his country, discourages success, dislikes the business sector, hates and punishes the wealthy; encourages the entitlement mentality, dependency on government, and idleness; thwarts any talk of drilling the oik we have and tapping our own natural resources while insisting on algae and windmills; relies on class and race warfare, blames everyone else, shows contempt for Israel, and is extremely pro-abortion.
