Now Wait Just a Minuet!

Thank you, Luigi Boccherini, for the soothing music. I needed that.

A Fine Time to Be Worried

Suddenly, U.S. officials are worried about a July 4 terrorist attack. You have a president who's negotiating with Iran, who admits he has no strategy for dealing with ISIS, who does nothing to stop the flood across our border, who acts like a fool over the Supreme Court rulings -- and now they're worried?

The Rainbow House?

Until I read this article, I actually assumed that the pictures of the White House wearing the gay pride colors were Photoshopped.  That, I could stomach. I doubt our enemies are frightened of our power and strength when they see images like this.

Fools on the Flotilla

At Israel Matzav,  you can read Netanyahu's excellent letter to the anti-semites on the latest flotilla. You can't reason with these people. As Carl says, "This is not about humanitarian aid. It's about Jew hatred, pure and simple." The cast of characters on the boats may change, but their goal remains the same.

American Jewry

Judith Bergman at Israel Hayom discusses The future of American Jewry.  Unfortunately, it's not a very happy one: "Right now, the lesson being taught across U.S. college and university campuses is that targeting Jewish students can be done with impunity. The longer American Jewry stays polite about these issues, the better those who perpetrate the hatred will learn the lesson, and it will spread to other sectors of American society."

Captured

Too bad the cop who shot and captured escapee-murderer David Sweat didn't have better aim.  Too bad hospitals have to waste their time, money, and effort on killers.

Haveil Havalim Time

Here are some recent issues:  check out this edition of Haveil Havalim at Enjoying the Bible Online.  Also, here is the final Haveil Havalim that's hosted by Adventures in AliyahLand.

Bitter Clingers vs. Liberals

Daniel Greenfield has some advice for us conservatives in dealing with the liberal Democrats and their destructive policies: Be the Best Saboteur You Can Be.  "Just obstruct any liberal initiative, policy or program in your community. It doesn't matter what. It doesn't matter if it's innocuous. It doesn't matter if you agree with it. Undermine it on principle. If you can, vote it down. Encourage others to vote it down. If you can't, look for ways to tie it in red tape by attaching other agendas to it...We're the underdogs. We're the political guerrillas. This is not our system. It's their system.  Our job is to make it run as badly as possible."

(Of course, even when we do vote it down, our vote is overturned and we're called bitter clingers and Bible-thumpers. Let them call us names. At least we can think for ourselves.)

Watcher's Council

The Council has spoken! Here are this week's Watcher's Council results from the False Flag edition.

The Weasel of the Week is Mentally Challenged Murderer Dylann Roof!! One of my nominees would have included prisoners/murderers/boyfriends' accomplice Joyce Mitchell who, her lawyer assures us, is now reading the Bible and praying like other scoundrels do when caught. It isn't working, because unfortunately for her, prisoner/murderer/boyfriend Richard Matt has thankfully been killed by the police, and David Sweat will soon meet the same fate.

"Workplace Violence" in France, Tunisia, & Kuwait

"According to regional daily Le Dauphiné Libéré, the attacker entered the factory, owned by US company Air Products in the town of Saint-Quentin-Fallavier, claiming he belonged to the Islamic State (IS) group.  The man opened gas bottles and set off an explosion. The newspaper also states that one victim was decapitated and several others injured, although there was uncertainty about how the man was decapitated and where."   Read more at France24.

Plus, there was a terrorist attack on a hotel in Tunisia and an attack on a mosque in Kuwait.

As usual, there was the usual immediate reaction from the West:  "UK’s Cameron: Today’s jihad attacks are 'not in the name of Islam. Islam is a religion of peace.'"  This is like Pavlov's dog with its conditioned stimulus, or like an out-of-office message or answering machine message that automatically responds the same way every time, over and over again. Don't they hear themselves?

Let's see if we get the same level of outrage over these savage attacks as we have had over the Confederate flag. Somehow, I doubt it.

Cartoons of the Day

By Nate Beeter

By Bob Gorrell

Lots 'o Links

Sometimes I have to shut off the TV and not look at the Internet because the tidal wave of lunacy is so great and I can't believe this is 2015 America. Catch up on all the revolting developments courtesy of Betsy's Page, Maggie's Farm, and Larwyn's Linx.

Also, read about Freddie Gray's autopsy report.  If the cops are acquitted, will there be more rioting?

And here's a perfect headline for the dependency class:  Can Americans Be Weaned From Freebies Or Are We Doomed To Bankruptcy?  I think things will continue this way so long as you have Democrats in the White House.  Whatever happened to earning what you get?

I've heard of smuggling files in cakes, but this is the first time I've heard of tools in hamburger meat. Just what is the allure of vicious killers, anyway?

Movie Madness

You've got to be kidding:  ‘Gone with the Wind’ should go the way of the Confederate flag.

Yes, by all means ban this great film, and ban everything to do with the Confederate South, but make sure you forgive the maniac who actually pulled the trigger and killed those nine souls. That really makes sense.

Another Outrage from the United Nations

We should be used to this by now.  Anne Bayefsky writes, "Beware, Bibi, you war criminal! Shocking U.N. report calls for your -- and other Israelis' -- arrest. Why the United States should immediately resign from the Human Rights Council."

Assimilationist: A Dirty Word

I enjoyed Noemie Emery's column titled Bobby Jindal, Indian Giver?  "'There’s not much Indian left in Bobby Jindal,' goes the story in the Washington Post, casting the worst of all possible lights on the steps that the two-term governor of Louisiana and current candidate for president has taken away from his immigrant past. For a conservative not born a white male in this country, this is pretty much par for the course. There wasn’t much black in Clarence Thomas, not much woman in Kay Bailey Hutchison (according to proto-girl Gloria Steinem), and there won’t be much anything in any Republican black, female, Latino, or non-male, non-purely-Anglo aspirant who has any chance of winning elections, gaining a following, or making a dent in the various voting blocs the liberals think of as theirs."  Read it all.

And read Michelle Malkin's column titled The media’s vile attacks on conservative assimilationists.

Shining Star

From the Algemeiner: Jewish Students Admit Feeling Targeted, Terrified in New Webpage Documenting Antisemitism on Campuses.

This is the year 2015, and yet "Some students admitted not wanting others to know they are Jewish because they fear being targeted by their classmates. A student from University of Washington said some people see the Star of David and 'brand me as someone toxic, someone worthy of their disdain and vitriol.'"

This makes me sick. Are we all going to Anglicize our names now like we used to do, out of fear?  Let's fight back and wear larger Stars of David out of sheer defiance!

The Bloom is Off the Pete Rose

Gee, what a surprise: Pete Rose bet on baseball while he was still playing.  Howard Cole writes, "There should be no reinstatement of any kind for Pete Rose. Not an appearance at an All-Star Game in his home town, not a ceremony of any kind in any big league town. The official language is 'permanently ineligible' for a reason. No special consideration for Rose. No quarter. He's simply not worth it, not now."

Remember, he was banned from baseball in 1989. People have been making excuses for him since then. What more proof do they need? It's time to stop.

Shut Up and Do Your Job

I have never understood the appeal of sending text messages and using Twitter and Facebook continuously, especially by adults. The story of the Red Sox pitcher using Instagram on the toilet during a game just reinforced my feelings.

The Victims, Not The Victimizers

Legal Insurrection simply and movingly displays the photos and the names of the Charleston church massacre victims.  These are the people who deserve to have their stories told, not the killer! This happens every single time there's a mass killing -- you have to hear about the murderer's sad childhood, the root causes, and all that liberal stuff, but the innocent victims don't get that sort of media coverage. Remember the Fort Hood killings? Can you name any of the victims?  And look at the coverage of the New York prison escapees, convicted murderers who are being treated like characters in a movie, along with their female accomplice. It's sickening, and it has to stop.

Beautiful Windows

This is just exquisite! From the UK Telegraph: "Sainte-Chapelle: 360 degree view of Paris chapel's kaleidoscopic stained-glass windows;Incredible interactive 360 degree image of the recently-refurbished 13th century Sainte-Chapelle chapel in Paris shows stained-glass windows in new light."

Sie Lieben Israel!

How about this for ironic?  "(JNS.org) While many in Europe are calling for a boycott of Israel, a delegation of 100 German industry leaders is preparing for a trip to Israel to meet with top businesspeople in a show of support for the Jewish state, as part of the ongoing marking of 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries."

Watcher's Council

The Council has spoken!  Here are the latest Watcher's Council results.  I initially had some trouble getting the Watcher of Weasels website to open, but you can also see the results over at Trevor Loudon's New Zeal blog.

Pope-a-Dope

"Pope Francis has unveiled an encyclical—a rare and influential Vatican statement—on climate change and the environment. The highly anticipated document says that global warming is real, is caused partly by human activity, and is a grave threat to humanity."  Oh brother! It sounds like Obama and Kerry must have written that for him!

You can't do better than this for terrific news roundups on the web, so stop at Maggie's Farm, Betsy's Page, and Larwyn's Linx right away!

Basically, Be Quiet!

I always like the tips at Lifehacker, and this one makes great sense: Increase Your Credibility by Avoiding Use of the Phrase "To Be Honest".
An earlier post suggests you stop starting a sentence with "so".  Another pet peeve of mine is the overuse of the word "basically", which means absolutely nothing!

Watcher's Council

Can you guess the identity of the recipient of this week's Golden Weasel statuette of shame? Why, it's none other than Faux Black Person And Racial Grievance Monger Rachel Dolezal!!

There's one solution I haven't yet heard: why don't they take DNA from her and the parents, who she claims aren't her parents?

Joining The Islamic State of Insanity

What kind of people are these? I saw the distraught husbands on the news:  "British police weren't much closer Wednesday to finding out what exactly has become of three sisters and their children, all of whom are believed to have left England to join their brother in the territory of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
A lawyer for the three women's husbands says there was no evidence of extremism, but CBS News correspondent Charlie D'Agata says their brother is thought to be fighting with the extremists in Syria, and the men fear their 12 family members have gone to join him.
It is a plea and a narrative that has become all too familiar in Britain.
Akhtar Iqbal and Mohammed Shoaib fear they may already have lost their wives and nine children to ISIS."

"No evidence of extremism"? That's a laugh. It's as much a lie as "Islam is the religion of peace".

Liberty Enlightening the World

I just love the old photographs of the Statue of Liberty taken as she was being built!

Practicing to Deceive

I don't know what's happening to our country, but this Rachel Dolezal, the liar who claimed she was black even though her parents are white, is part of a nervy segment of the population who fool a lot of the people a lot of the time. She's like Lance Armstrong, or Brian Williams, or the writer James Frey, who fooled Oprah Winfrey; or those impostors who claim they served in the military, or those people who embellish their resumes, none of whom ever think they'll be caught.  Then when they are caught,  their explanations are just as bad as their lies.  So, you may want to "identify as black" when you're white, or identify as a woman when you're a man, but to me, they all just identify as liars.

Argus Hamilton Quips

Here's the latest column by the humorist Argus Hamilton, and it includes news items such as this one: "The White House press briefing room was evacuated Tuesday when an alarm went off and Secret Service agents swept into the room with bomb-sniffing dogs. Reporters were out of there in seconds. There was no reason for alarm, it was just Hillary Clinton testing out her new press conference plan."

Oy, Do I Have a Headache!

But I'm not going to take a Tylenol after doing a double-take at their commercial showing pro-gay propaganda.  If you have a product you want to sell, then just tell me how it works -- don't give me a liberal lecture!

Funnies That Aren't

Take a look at the Sunday Funnies at Flopping Aces, which I spotted via Blogs Lucianne Loves.

The H With It!

This headline neatly sums up Hillary Clinton's campaign: Hillary Clinton wants to take from the rich and give to the poor.  Sound familiar? She ought to make Obama her running mate, and then she and Bill can be the co-presidents, and it'll be like old times.

Presidents On Israel

Josh Gelernter has written On Jewish matters, comparing Obama with his predecessors.  And it's no surprise that Obama comes up short. "In fact, you could argue that Israel’s best-ever friends in the White House were Reagan and the second Bush. None of the men quoted here supported Israel because of pressure groups. Most of these past presidents were deeply religious; those who weren’t were deeply thoughtful, and supported Israel as a matter of conscience, not of politics."

Speaking of supporting Israel, South Carolina has become the first state to pass a bill against the BDS movement. Good for them!

Watcher's Council

The Council has spoken! Here are this week's Watcher's Council results!  The first place Council winner is The Right Planet with its post titled The Trans-Pacific Partnership and the March Toward ‘Global Governance’ — #StopFastTrack.

I don't know what happened, but Paul Ryan seems to have suddenly turned into the girl from "The Exorcist"!

Perfectly-Named Criminal

The Washington Post headline is Mother who poured scalding water on son with cerebral palsy gets 9 years.  That's a poor choice of words, as she is definitely not a mother.  Her name is Betty Threatt, and she should have scalding water poured on her.

Cartoon of the Day

I saw this Glenn McCoy cartoon today at Lucianne.com.  It says everything about this president and our culture.

Go, Cavaliers!

I don't even like basketball, but that LeBron James is really amazing, and the NBA Finals have been extremely exciting. This is a welcome distraction from the nightly news.

Look at the cute outfit Cleveland babies are wearing these days! Maybe Ohio will have a lot to celebrate very soon -- and hopefully without the usual overturned, burning cars and looted shops.

Surrending While Jewish

Here's a depressing article by "Legendary Rabbi of England Calls for Jewish Surrender in Europe. This week England’s Former Chief Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks gave a speech described by the media as doom and gloom at a conference in Herzliya. He admitted a belief that the BDS movement had succeeded in making the State of Israel a “divisive factor” in Jewish life and claimed that, as a result, supporting Israel was 'almost impossible' for European Jews.
It was an astonishingly defeatist speech, which is troubling enough. But most disturbing was the false dichotomy he presented to European Jews. In his own troubling words he said, 'Jews have been faced with a choice: live in Europe and criticize Israel or be silent, or leave Europe…' In other words, the only solutions left for Europe’s Jewish community is to embrace and succumb to BDS or get out. What he shockingly neglected to mention is the obvious third option: to stay in Europe, embrace Israel, and fight for the Jewish State."

This way of thinking, by a Rabbi of all people, just gives more ammunition to antisemites and to the BDS movement.

Our Government in Action

You really have to wonder if this lack of action is deliberate rather than embarrassingly inept.

Item: TSA failed to identify 73 workers “linked to terrorism”.  Mind you, this is 14 years after September 11.

Item:  While speaking in Germany today, President Obama confessed with a halting delivery that “We don’t yet have a complete strategy” for fighting the Islamic State in IraqEven CNN is shocked by this.

But you can bet that ISIS and Al Qaeda are very pleased to hear it.

Shameless on TV

I agree with Linda Chavez, who says that reality TV is proof our society has come unhinged.  It's not only the Duggars and Kardashians, it's the 600 pound women and the midgets and conjoined twins; and the awful shameless people who appear on Maury Povich, Jerry Springer, Steve Wilkos; and all the irresponsible types who sue on Judge Judy.  There's a neverending stream of these people, and unfortunately there's an audience for it that seems to think it's normal.  Most of us don't find it acceptable at all, but nobody cares what we think.

American Pharoah, Triple Crown Winner!

Sometimes it takes an animal to make up for what's wrong with people!

Socialists for Sanders

There's a good post about Bernie Sanders at Legal Insurrection. We already have a socialist in the White House. Why would we want another one?

It goes to show how the media fawns all over you as long as you're the politically correct party, color, or ideology.

D-Day

Today is D-Day, and you should read more about the day that saved the world.  Thank goodness we had the leaders we did then, and not the leaders we have now.

Watcher's Council News

The Watcher's Council, which is keeping an eye on the weasels of the world, has been working overtime lately due to the surplus of weasly characters, such as the following.

The Weasel of the Week is a so-called man who tortured and abused a 15-month old Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix. They should punish him the same way he punished the poor dog, except that some people would consider that too cruel.

The Council has spoken! Here are this week's Watcher's Council results.

Lots 'o Links

It's Thursday, so it must be time for the terrific news roundups from Betsy's Page, Larwyn's Linx, and Maggie's Farm, (complete with an American Digest piece on Sgt.Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.)

Bonus: Daniel Greenfield has an excellent column on The Incredible Entitlement of the Welfare Lobby.  It's about time someone said things like "Baltimore’s problem isn’t segregation, lead paint or any of the other liberal hobgoblins. It’s a lack of responsibility. Responsible people get married. Responsible people find work or create work." And "Victims work for a living. Oppressors live off them. The victims take responsibility for their lives. Oppressors only show entitlement. The incredible entitlement of the welfare lobby has to end if the inner city is to have a future."  I doubt this will ever happen as long as the enabling Democrats are in charge.

We Need A Churchill Today

Bruce Walker has a nice tribute to Winston Churchill on the 75th anniversary of his great Dunkirk speech with the memorable line, "We shall never surrender". Here's an excerpt from that address:

"I have, myself, full confidence that if all do their duty, if nothing is neglected, and if the best arrangements are made, as they are being made, we shall prove ourselves once again able to defend our Island home, to ride out the storm of war, and to outlive the menace of tyranny, if necessary for years, if necessary alone. At any rate, that is what we are going to try to do. That is the resolve of His Majesty's Government-every man of them. That is the will of Parliament and the nation. The British Empire and the French Republic, linked together in their cause and in their need, will defend to the death their native soil, aiding each other like good comrades to the utmost of their strength. Even though large tracts of Europe and many old and famous States have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Gestapo and all the odious apparatus of Nazi rule, we shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old."

There are no Churchills any more. We've gone from firm resolve to weakness and political correctness.

ISIS in America

From CNN: The man fatally shot in Boston after waving a military knife at officers had been plotting to behead Pamela Geller, an activist and conservative blogger, law enforcement sources tell CNN.

Are the critics simply going to attack Pam Geller and blame her for this, too?

Also, how about some demonstrations in our streets --  standing up for our brave cops, and standing up against terrorism in our cities?  Why don't we ever see that?

Some of My Closest Presidents Are Jewish

Aaron Goldstein's comments on Obama's delusions of Jewishness are the best:  "President Obama reportedly told David Axelrod, 'You know, I think I am the closest thing to a Jew that has ever sat in this office. For people to say that I am anti-Israel, or, even worse,  anti-Semitic, it hurts.' Funny, he doesn't look Jewish."

And this:  "If Obama truly knows more about Judaism than any of his predecessors and is the closest thing to a Jew having sat in the Oval Office, he would know that Jews do not worship false Messiahs."

Making Our Day

"Fresh from the success of American Sniper, Clint Eastwood has been announced as the director of a new movie about another American hero – Captain Chesley 'Sully' Sullenberger. US Airways pilot Sully Sullenberger gained instant global fame for displaying tremendous grace under pressure when he landed his disabled jet on the Hudson River in 2009, saving the lives of everyone aboard." Now that's a movie worth making. Not only is Sully a hero, he has character and integrity that's sorely lacking today.

Time Capsules

Here's a great story with photos about time capsules from 1815 and 1915 that were recently discovered.  What would a 2015 time capsule contain, a cell phone and selfie stick?

I Am Woman, Hear Me Barf

I agree with the reader comments on this story on the White House praising Bruce Jenner for becoming a woman. I too am tired of the liberal spin that this is brave, wonderful (Jessica Lange, whose photo I thought it was on Vanity Fair, said the comparisons were "wonderful"!), exciting, worthy of praise and celebration, etc.  No, it's revolting and nauseating. Don't expect us to be persuaded that this is normal, because it's definitely not, no matter how much you insist it is.

The Fall of John Kerry

I confess I had the same thoughts as Esther Goldberg as soon as I heard the news:

"You are on the front lines, in a very hard place. It’s fraught with danger. You’re tired. You’ve had enough. You just want to go home. But that’s not a palatable option. Folks will get very very angry with you. You may not survive the consequences.
What do you do?
If you’re a fighter in Syria, and you’ve come to realize you’re not a heroic jihadi fighting to get into heaven, and no virgins will be waiting for you there anyway, that you’re no more than cannon fodder, that if you quit your recruiters will kill you, if you’re lucky—you shoot yourself in the foot.
If you’re the American Secretary of State in Washington, and you’re facing an Congressional inquiry for a misfeasance that cost four Americans their lives, and you’re turned a Middle Eastern country into a failed state, and you’ve allowed deadly weapons to fall into the hands of Islamic terrorists—you fall down the stairs and get yourself diagnosed with a concussion, and take a rest for 6 months.
If you’re the successor American Secretary of State, and you’re in Switzerland, in the midst of a failing negotiation with Dr. Evil who’s a whole lot smarter than you, and you’re just an inch away from total defeat in a battle where the prize is all of Western Civilization, and your key negotiator has just announced she’s quitting—you take a fall off your bicycle and break your leg. You get sent home for an indefinite period of time because… well… there are no good doctors in Switzerland."
