Good Riddance to ISIS Leader!

Give Trump some credit for ridding the world of this savage butcher! He was for ISIS what Bin Laden was for Al Qaeda, and may they both rot.

Liz Sheld's Morning Greatness column is titled "Trump Kept Democrat ‘Leaking Machine’ in the Dark on Raid". Can you blame him after what the Dems have done to him these past three years? And why not? I wouldn't have put it past them to have leaked advance details of the raid, as long as  it hurt Trump.

Acceptine Nominations for the Antisemite of the Year Award

Seen at The Jewish Press today: "StopAntisemitism.org is accepting nominations for their 'Antisemite of the Year Award.' The watchdog group is calling on the public to select the most notoriously vile anti-Semites who not only spread hatred, but also incite violence against the Jewish people."

Unfortunately, there are too many candidates to choose from, but my "favorite" has to be Rashida Tlaib. If she weren't in the running, then I'd vote for the notorious Roger Waters, whose hatred of Jews has made one forget that once, he was simply a member of a rock band.

Republicans: The Party of Education

Did you know that math is racist?

And today at Instapundit, I learned this: "Professor says grading, good grammar are examples of white supremacy."

How clever these liberals are! They can keep encouraging, and making excuses for, stupidity and bad behavior by blaming everything, even mathematics, on  their usual scapegoats.  Why stress learning and personal responsibility when they can keep their voter base ignorant of history and facts; enable them to speak and write incoherently and ungrammatically; make sure they're unable to balance a checkbook; and ensure that their chances of getting a good job plummet to zero?

They have taken the concept of 'dumbing down' to the extreme.
The Republican Party and all conservatives ought to take immediate advantage of this opportunity and brand itself the Party of Education in comparison to the Democrats and its Party of Victimhood. Why would you vote for the latter?

Zubin Mehta

If you love classical music and common decency, you have to read this appreciation of  Zubin Mehta:

"How can Israel repay the Indian-born maestro who came to comfort a war-shocked land and stayed for half a century?"

Always? Never!

Hot Air has titled this latest bit of insanity "It’s come to this", with good reason:

"Procter & Gamble brand Always is removing the Venus symbol, commonly used to designate 'female,' from the packaging around its sanitary pads in an effort to be more inclusive. 'For over 35 years Always has championed girls and women, and we will continue to do so,' the company told USA TODAY Wednesday. 'We’re also committed to diversity and inclusion and are on a continual journey to understand the needs of all of our consumers.'"

Please explain to me how maxipads can be "inclusive". I apologize for my obvious insensitivity in not realizing that men menstruate too!

Remember Gillette's transgender ad and "toxic masculinity" lecture, and the fact that they lost billions of dollars as a result?  I think Always is going to suffer the same economic backlash, and I hope they do. This constant embarrassing bowing to ridiculous political correctness has got to stop - period!

Escaping Justice for 75 Years

There's yet another old-Nazi story in the news. Nazi-hunter Dr. Efraim Zuroff, reports: "A 93-year-old Holocaust guard is tried in juvy court.  When a neo-Nazi Holocaust denier sets out to murder Jews in Germany on Yom Kippur, the belated trial of Stutthof Nazi Bruno Dey takes on new importance...Dey is accused of 5,230 counts of accessory to murder during his service as an SS guard in the Stutthof concentration camp, from August 1944 until April 1945."

As always, I don't care how old or how frail these Nazis are. They have already lived much longer than their helpless victims did, and they should get what's coming to them.

Argus Hamilton Quips

Here's the humorist's latest take on the current news scene. I just hope he's kidding about Kellogg's in this item: "Kellogg's pays tribute to the LGBT community by introducing a cereal called All Together this week that combines six Kellogg's cereals in one big mix. It includes Frosted Flakes, Fruit Loops and Sugar Smacks. In solidarity this morning I had a Snickers bar which self-identifies as a vegetable."

Reading The News Can Make You Sick

I usually skim the various new aggregators during my lunch break, and today I was very sorry to have come across this story at Hot Air:

"Jeffrey Younger had petitioned a court in Texas to grant him sole custody of his twin sons, James and Jude, in part to avoid a plan to infuse James with female hormones. James, who would like to be called Luna, has been the center of controversy in the heated debate among his parents and others. Anne Georgulas, the mother of the two boys, has advocated for James to transition into Luna and has strongly backed the idea of chemically castrating her son and beginning hormone replacement therapy. The ruling on Wednesday will prevent Jeffrey from having sole custody of his children and paves the way for Georgulas to proceed with the procedure."

The twins are seven years old.

How is something like this now considered normal? What has happened to people? It's as if they've been brainwashed into accepting every radical idea. Michael Savage used to say that "liberalism is a mental disorder", and after seeing stories like this one, I believe him.

Tulsi 1, Hillary 0

When I read today that Hillary Clinton accused Tulsi Gabbard of being a Russian agent, I was amazed. But what was even more amazing was Gabbard's response:

“Great! Thank you @HillaryClinton,” she tweeted. “You, the queen of warmongers, embodiment of corruption, and personification of the rot that has sickened the Democratic Party for so long, have finally come out from behind the curtain. From the day I announced my candidacy, there has been a … concerted campaign to destroy my reputation. We wondered who was behind it and why. Now we know — it was always you, through your proxies and … … powerful allies in the corporate media and war machine, afraid of the threat I pose.”

What a K.O.! She sounded almost like a Republican there!

What fun to see a Democrat woman taking on Hillary Clinton. She deserves kudos for doing so.

Frühlingsrauschen: Rustle of Spring

I had never heard of composer Christian Sinding or this piece until I saw the orchestral version in a 2015 concert, the first time it had ever been performed.  This beautiful music was originally intended for the piano.

Drunkblogging the Debate

We should always be grateful to Stephen Green, who drunkblogs the Democrat debates to spare you from having to watch these spectacles yourself.  His recaps are shorter, wittier, and a lot less nauseating.

All I know is that if the Democrats actually get elected next November, I may start drinking myself.

Child Anxiety

From the NYT Friday Briefing:  "Smarter Living: Our Climate Fwd newsletter collected advice for helping children deal with anxiety over climate change. Dr. Lise Van Susteren, a founder of the Climate Psychiatry Alliance, suggests listening to their fears and then pivoting to solutions, such as steps you’ve taken to reduce your carbon footprint."

If they’re suffering from anxiety, it’s because the idiot parents instill it in them! Can’t they let kids be kids rather than radicals and activists?

Copenhagener Eisenbahn Dampf Galopp

I heard this piece for the first time in a 2016 concert (not the one shown above) and got a real kick out of it.  Even if you didn't know what the title meant, you quickly figured it out. It's more like Andre Rieu than the Vienna Philharmonic, but I liked it just the same.

Lots 'o Links ( + Y.K. & Baseball)

Turn off the shouting TV news and read these great blogs instead: Larwyn's Linx, Stephen Kruiser's Morning Briefing, and Maggie's Farm!

Bonus: It's time for some Yom Kippur-and-baseball links!  First, the familiar one about Sandy Koufax, including the fact that "Jewish baseball stars for the Astros, Braves, and Dodgers all decide to play on Yom Kippur. They all lose."  Then there's this story: "With the arrival of the Jewish penitential day of Yom Kippur alongside baseball’s postseason, it is fitting that we also mark the 100th anniversary of baseball’s original sin — the 'Black Sox' scandal."

Today's Amusing Blog Posts

From Stephen Kruiser's Morning Briefing:  "Many rumors are swirling saying that Her Majesty the Royal Granny Maojackets Hillary Clinton may want to dip her ugly toes into the presidential race waters once again. As an American voter who would prefer that no Democrats ever be in power again, I only have one thought about that: Please God, yes.

From Instapundit: "'[THUNBERG SCOLD VOICE] HOW DARE YOU![/THUNBERG]: New Law Requires You To Listen To Greta Thunberg Lecture Before Purchasing Gasoline.'  It’s the Babylon Bee, so it’s satire, but I wish they wouldn’t give California any ideas."

Excusing Bad Behavior

I saw two articles today about enabling bad behavior. One was a New York Times story about people talking on cell phones & taking photos during live theatre performances. One line stuck out: "...some suggest that an emphasis on behavioral restrictions is a form of off-putting elitism."

The other was a City Journal article about the homelessness squalor in San Francisco and the excuses that are made for it: "The city enables the entire homeless lifestyle, not just drug use. Free food is everywhere. Outreach workers roam the city, handing out beef jerky, crackers, and other snacks. At the encampment across from Glide Memorial Church, a wiry man in a blue denim jacket announces that day’s lunch selection at the church’s feeding line, to general approbation: fried chicken. He triumphantly brandishes a half-eaten leg before tossing it into the street. Susan, a 57-year-old Canadian who lives in an encampment on Willow Alley, itemizes the available bounty while rolling a cigarette: free dinners and movies; the microwave ovens at Whole Foods; free water at Starbucks. The homeless position themselves outside coffee shops in the morning for handouts of pastries and java. If those handouts don’t materialize, there’s always theft. A barista at the Bush and Van Ness Starbucks says that someone steals food and coffee at least every other day. 'We are not allowed to do anything about it,' she says. 'The policy is we can’t chase them.'  The combination of maximal tolerance for antisocial behavior, on the one hand, and free services and food, on the other, acts as a magnet."

There seems to be way too much "maximal tolerance" these days for behavior that would not have been tolerated years ago.  Since when are common courtesy and manners considered "off-putting elitism", and since when is going to the bathroom on public streets seen as acceptable? Why should volunteers clean up after your filth? Why shouldn't you expect other theatregoers to watch respectfully when you pay to see a play or a movie? What's wrong with good behavior, anyway?

Some Good Friday Roundups

Take a look at this newsletter from the Department of Labor.  Something tells me the Democrats aren't happy with the above graphic.

Stephen Kruiser offers The Morning Briefing: #FullOfSchiff Friday Edition.

Here's a news roundup from Issues & Insights.

Enjoyable Jewish Links

The popular word tchotchke is the subject of Harold Ticktin's Yiddish Vinkl. It's always fun to hear Kevin O'Leary use it on "Shark Tank"!  Here's one of the examples that Mr. Ticktin gives: "'If you are having trouble identifying a tchotchke, just look around your house or someone else’s and whatever you see that a burgler wouldn’t steal is probably a tchotchke.' (bit.ly/2o4qIgz)"

The September Jewish Book Carnival at Life Is Like a Library can give you some suggestions on what to read next.

Enough About Vaping & ODs!

I am really sick and tired of hearing about injuries & deaths from vaping. Anyone with a brain ought to know by now that inhaling fumes from cigarettes, vapor, aerosol cans, or drugs can harm or kill you. Can we ever have any personal responsibility in these cases instead of always blaming others? Nobody is holding you down and forcing you to inhale, smoke, inject, guzzle, or swallow, so don't expect any sympathy.

I saw this headline today: "Anti-Semitism all over again."  That makes it sound like anti-semitism had stopped and is making a comeback.  What the headline ought to say is "Anti-Semitism Continues".

Inoffensive Baseball

I always enjoy Greg Crosby's columns, and this one, called "Emasculating Baseball", is a tongue-in-cheek look at how baseball would look if it were required to be politically correct.

For example: "The term 'shutout' must be eliminated from baseball vocabulary as well. One should never shut out anyone or anything. It is exclusionary and we must always strive to be inclusive. 'Hit and run' is another term with a negative connotation. When you do it with a car it is against the law. And 'hitting' in general is an act of violence and toxic male aggression."

Make sure you read the readers' clever suggestions, too, but let's just hope the baseball commissioner doesn't read this column and get any ideas!

Argus Hamilton Quips

The humorist's latest column includes such topical news items as these:

"Hillary Clinton went on CBS Good Morning and stated that Trump is self-destructing because he had a guilty conscience about stealing the 2016 election. The opera just never ends with her. Would somebody PLEASE give Hillary a participation trophy so she'll think she won something?"

"House Democrats subpoenaed Rudy Giuliani's documents concerning his visit with Ukraine's president and called him to testify. They also want to shut Attorney General Barr out of the process. The Democrats want Giuliani to be disbarred and they want Barr to be de-Giulianized."

These Democrats Are Crazy, and This Idea is Just Plain Wrong

From the NY Times"A wealth tax to reshape the economy:   Progressive Democratic presidential candidates have proposed the biggest changes to tax policy in more than a century. Bernie Sanders — who has said, “I don’t think that billionaires should exist” — and Elizabeth Warren have both outlined plans that target the wealthy to help pay for social programs like tuition-free college, universal child care and 'Medicare for all.'  Critics argue that a wealth tax would cripple economic growth and sap the motivation of entrepreneurs."

Reshape the economy? It sounds like they want to destroy the economy instead! Why would a sane person vote for this?
