Time For Some Yiddish!

Harold Ticktin discusses the word "schmooze" in his Yiddish Vinkl column.

In Marjorie Gottlieb Wolfe's book “Are Yentas, Kibitzers, & Tummlers Weapons of Mass Instruction?  Yiddish Trivia, Billy Crystal  said that “Yiddish is a combination of German and phlegm."  That's a perfect description!

Political Correctness vs. National Security

These people are deliberately committing suicide:  Germany's Merkel stands by refugee policy despite 'terrifying' attacks.

And in England: Islamic State says London is next, UK churches put on terror alert.

Oh well! Who cares about any of that, just so long as we are "diverse"!

Paging Dr, Goebbels!

Get me rewrite!  You can't write the truth in newspapers and online today, so just change the narrative! In this case,  a suicide bomber becomes a victim! So "Suicide bomber blows himself up, injures 11" becomes "Syrian migrant dies in German blast."

Now we have "safe spaces" in journalism, too.  I can hardly wait to see how Hillary and Bill Clinton are treated by the fawning press, should they get elected Co-President.

Boo Birds of Happiness

I never had any use for Debbie Wasserman Schultz, but if anyone had to get booed off stage, it should have been Hillary Clinton herself. Why should  Wasserman Schultz have taken the fall for yet another Clinton scandal?

Killing Children in Munich

It keeps getting worse. While Obama spent his time attacking Trump in front of the Mexican President,  witnesses said that the gunman screamed 'I'm German' and 'Allahu Akbar' before shooting at children in Munich.  This comes days after a hatchet attack on a German train.  The BBC TV news reporting of the attack on the passengers of course contained the usual warning not to jump to conclusions!  How many more terror attacks must we have before we act?

Also, this September 11 will be the 4th anniversary of the murders of our four Americans in Benghazi; as well as the 15th anniversary of the 2001 atrocities.  Let's hope this spineless Obama administration is preparing for the worst and won't act surprised when something does happen.

There's a lot to read today at Betsy's Page, Maggie's Farm, and Larwyn's Linx.

And here's some conventional wisdom:  this speech of Pastor Mark Burns really thrilled the Cleveland crowd, and the viewing public including me, this evening!

Convention Notes

No matter what you might think of Donald Trump, you have to admit he's a great father who has raised his children very well.  It's been gratifying to hear them speak about their father in such unabashadly loving, respectful, and admiring words, and to see how wonderfully they have turned out.

I like Mike Pence and see him as a calming influence on the campaign.  I'd never heard of Kentucky Senator Ralph Alvarado before tonight, but after seeing his speech, I'd like to hear more!  And Pastor Darrell Scott's rousing speech made me want to attend his church.

A Twitter Twit

It's amazing to me that clueless people like this think nothing of broadcasting their antisemitism so brazenly in public:  "A leading Jewish human rights organization has called on the wife of a prominent NFL player to apologize for accusing Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross of seeking to keep his 'Jew buddies' employed."

"Jew buddies"?  How coarse! I doubt she will apologize, since it's obvious she doesn't think she said anything offensive.

Imagine the reaction if someone had used the N-word there instead.

Cop-Killers Unite!

Don't lecture me about how Americans should be united.  We won't be united until political correctness ends and people are able to talk about anti-police sentiment without being called a racist. You can't reason with terrorists, cop-killers, or liberals.  The GOP convention should demonstrate its strong support for the police in no uncertain terms.

Three cops were killed in Baton Rouge today, and as usual the first reaction was to blame guns and call for more gun control.  No wonder these kinds of killers keep getting more brazen!

And how about putting a stop to the anti-cop protests still going on in this country, which are just adding fuel to the fire? If you can't stop them, then at least denounce them strongly, rather than encourage them.

Warning: These People Vote

This past week I have seen several stories online about the computer game Pokémon Go, but as I don't play such games, I didn't bother to actually find out what the problem was until today. I guess I really shouldn't have been surprised to read things like this:

Hey Idiots, Arlington National Cemetery Wants You to Stop Playing Pokémon Go on the Tombs of Fallen Veterans.  (Yes, I know it's inconvenient for you, there are only dead heroes here.)

Pokémon Go makers call for calm as servers crash across Europe and US.  (Yes, I'm sure this crash must be very traumatic for you.)

I remember when morons were taking selfies at solemn shrines like this, and obviously they have not learned a thing.  So I thought that Leonard Pitts described it best when he said the following:   "Here’s something I never thought I’d have to say.   People should not play Pokémon at Auschwitz. Nor at the Sept. 11 memorial in New York City, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, or Arlington National Cemetery. You would think this obvious, but apparently it isn’t. According to reports, people have been playing the game in these sacred spaces, often to the consternation of those who run them. As a tweet from Arlington put it last week, 'We do not consider playing ‘Pokémon Go’ to be appropriate decorum on the grounds of ANC.' Apparently, we have reached a point in our devolution where people can’t figure such things out for themselves."

Sliced Turkey

I  like how Obama, taken by surprise by the coup in Turkey, is warning the people to avoid violence.  That's rich coming from a man who can't even control the violence in his own country!

Lots 'o Links

There's so much good stuff to read at Betsy's Page, Larwyn's Linx, and Maggie's Farm.

Not Nice!

Victor Davis Hanson's timely column titled Enemies See America As Vulnerable Prey is even more meaningful in light of today's horrific terrorist attack in France, probably by ISIS.  I had to stop watching the news coverage once the usual weak, politically correct responses were made: don't rush to judgment about Muslims, let's not have a backlash, let's blame gun violence, and so on.

This September 11, it will be the 15th anniversary of the worst terrorist attack on America.  How about a swift, decisive retaliation now in memory of those victims, or should this country continue putting PC insanity before innocent lives? How many more will be killed before someone says enough's enough?

Rudy Giuliani: A "Clear and Clarion Voice"

If you are an admirer of Rudy Giuliani as I have been for years, you will like this tribute to him at Hot Air, especially if you have seen his TV appearances lately.  He was a very effective U.S. Attorney, he was a great Mayor, and he would make an excellent President.

Take Some Responsibility For Yourself!

I am sick and tired of seeing protesters making trouble in the streets, shutting down highways, and wasting the valuable time of our police. The only protests that should be going on right now are those protesting the deliberate assassinations of whites and of cops.  And no, Obama and Hillary, we do NOT need a dialogue with blacks, nor do we need to hear their grievances. There's been a black man in the White House these past 8 years, and he's only made the situation in this country much worse. If you want to avoid trouble, then work hard, don't be a criminal, stop joining gangs, raise your family right, and stop whining already!

Recap this week's news headlines by checking with Betsy's Page, Larwyn's Linx, and Maggie's Farm. Dallas has already been suffering for decades as the place where JFK was assassinated, and now it has sadly become associated with the deliberate assassination of cops.

In One Plane & Out The Other

Amazing. In the course of one week, Bill Clinton goes into a plane to plot with Loretta Lynch, and today Hillary Clinton comes out of a plane with Obama. They ought to rename it Air Farce One.

ISIS On The Run

Yes, they're on the run alright -- in Bangladesh this time, slaughtering 20 people including Americans. What is this, the 3rd ISIS attack in 2 weeks?  That fool John Kerry said ISIS is desperate and losing, but the only ones desperate and losing are us.
