The media suddenly seems to be overly concerned with the fact that Senator John McCain cancelled an appearance on Jay Leno's "Tonight Show" out of respect for President Ford. It seems he was set to announce that he was running for President in 2008. Now everyone thinks he has ruined his chance to be elected.
Have talk shows become so influential that people will vote for a candidate based solely on his appearance on such a show? If so, that's pretty depressing.
