What is the point of playing a challenging game like Scrabble when you now have moronic "rules" like these??

I saw an article about the new Scrabble rules. Some people are really up in arms about it. According to my son, who once had a Scrabble-addicted teacher, there are thousands of people who take Scrabble very seriously and participate in Scrabble tournaments all over the English-speaking world.
