Well, better late than never. She can be a Democrat all she wants, but after being disinvited to an event by the vile Abdul El-Sayed, she finally had enough from him. At least she can look at herself in the mirror now and her district will know that in this case, she did the right thing. It made me personally feel a little better, and I hope she inspires other Democrats to temporarily defect.
But Schumer just released a statement saying that he and the other Dems are united for El-Sayed and that attacks against El-Sayed are "racist, Islamophobic, and over-the-top false attacks". I didn't see him attack El-Sayed's ugly antisemitism, however. He also attacked Mike Rogers as a "tool of Donald Trump", which only proves that Trump Derangement Syndrome is alive and well in the increasingly radical Democrat party.
I just hope that less charitable Democrats like El-Sayed's radical supporters won't try the usual tactics of death threats and nasty social media posts towards Stevens, whose House term ends in 2027; and towards Rogers.

Here's an excerpt from an article in which the headline says it all:
Haley Stevens endorses GOP’s Mike Rogers in Michigan as Democrats fume
The Hill, by Tara Suter - 11/01/26 12:34 PM ET
"Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Mich.) on Sunday endorsed former Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) to serve in the Senate over Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed, who defeated her in a bitter primary battle over the summer.
"The Stevens announcement came after days of fueding between the Democrats, and just two days before the midterm elections.
"Democrats are seeking to hold on to the Michigan Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Gary Peters (D). A loss in Michigan would make it more difficult for the party to win the Senate majority. Democrats need a net gain of four Senate seats to take the majority.
"Anger over Israel and the Gaza war was at the heart of the Stevens-El-Sayed primary fight, their subsequent feud and Stevens’s decision to endorse a Republican.
"Stevens had called on El-Sayed to publicly disavow a campaign ad run by an outside group. He refused, and over the weekend, made it clear Stevens was not welcome at a Sunday campaign event where she had been invited through other Democrats seeking to put the messy fight behind the party."
