Chalishing for Harold Ticktin

I just love the Yiddish Vinkl column by Harold Ticktin! Today's word is chalish, meaning faint. One amusing example he uses is this: “Platzing and chalishing are two Yiddish equivalents to the term ‘in desperate need of;’ for example, one would platz for the bathroom and chalish for a drink.”

(I had only ever seen and pronounced it as "plotz", so I had to look up "platz" - that's a new one on me.)
