Ungrateful, Unvaxxed, and Unhinged

I read this story on CNN's website before I saw the report on TV, and it infuriated my both times:

Deflated health care workers and desperate patients clash overalternative Covid treatments.  "Dr. Jack Lyons remembers the pandemic's early days when grateful communities banged pots and pans to honor frontline health care workers.
But now, faced with hostility just for trying to save his patients' lives, he says that, sadly, those days are long gone.
Lyons is one of the many doctors and nurses tackling the rise in Covid-19 cases that are flooding hospitals as the Omicron variant rapidly spreads throughout the country.
Now health care workers fighting on the front lines of the pandemic are also coming face to face with patients who dismiss and even threaten them over how they are being treated for the virus.
'Folks act as if they can come in the hospital and request any certain therapy they want or conversely decline any therapy they want with the idea being that somehow they can pick and choose and direct their therapy. And it doesn't work,' Lyons told CNN from the CentraCare hospital he works at in St. Cloud, Minnesota.  About 70% of the patients in Lyons' ICU are sick with Covid-19, and almost all of them are unvaccinated.  'The most difficult experience we've had is a patient's family who under a pseudonym had made threats against the hospital,' Lyons said. 'There was a reference to making sure the hospital was locked and we've got people that are coming for you.'"

These doctors and nurses are heroes who have worked nonstop for two years to save their patients' lives, and this is the thanks they get!

I suggest the doctors have the police escort these selfish, ungrateful, unvaccinated people out of the hospital and give them directions to the nearest veterinary clinic!

Omicron Domination and Unvaccinated Defiance

From PBS News Hour: "Less than a month after discovery, Omicron now 73 percent of U.S. COVID-19 cases."

Tomorrow night, Biden should address his entire speech to the unvaccinated, who are responsible for continuing to spread the virus. The rest of us have masked up and followed all the rules from the very beginning and rushed to get our vaccines and our booster.  We don't need any more lectures, thank you, but the selfish unvaxxed definitely do. 

I doubt it will do much good when you have people like Sarah Palin proudly and defiantly refusing to get the vaccine -- and getting cheered in response! She said she would get a shot over her dead body -- and with the way things are going, she  may just get her wish.

"Teaching" the Holocaust

Per the Washington Post:   "Watkins Elementary School staff member told third-graders in library class to reenact scenes from the Holocaust, directing them to dig their classmates’ mass graves and simulate shooting the victims, according to an email from the school’s principal. The instructor was placed on leave Friday.
She allegedly assigned specific roles to students. She cast one student as Adolf Hitler, according to an email from Watkins Elementary School Principal Scott Berkowitz to the third-graders’ parents. He did not name the staff member. That student is Jewish, according to the parent of a student who was asked to participate. At the end of the exercise, the child was told to pretend to commit suicide, as Hitler did."

Please don't make excuses for this creature, or print the usual sob story, or send her to visit the U.S. Holocaust Museum or Auschwitz.  This person  is beyond help, and beyond contempt.

800,000 COVID Deaths

 

Just look at these terrible numbers from Time's Coronavirus Brief.  And just think of the fact that 1 in every 100 senior citizens in the United States has died of COVID. This is truly a national scandal.
