COVID-19 Metrics See First Increase Since January: CDC
"The increases are small, and it’s unclear if the trend will last, but it’s a notable reversal after months of declines.
"The agency reported this week that coronavirus emergency department visits, test positivity rates and wastewater levels 'have begun to show small increases nationally.'
"Additionally, COVID-19 hospitalizations have leveled out and are no longer declining.
"In the U.S., new coronavirus strains are on the rise. While the so-called arcturus strain is the most prominent variant circulating, several other omicron subvariants are increasing, including XBB.2.3 and EG.5.
"Coronavirus deaths in the U.S. are still decreasing. But deaths tend to lag behind increases in cases and hospitalizations."
