Crime and No Punishment

I've always thought that if famous people could experience senseless crime the way the rest of us do on a daily basis, maybe they would speak up against criminals and for other victims.

Yesterday, Democratic Congressman Henry Cuellar was carjacked at gunpoint by three thugs.  His response?  "Cuellar said he was 'good' and even joked about the frightening experience. He said the robbers 'came out of nowhere, and they pointed guns at me.'"

Yes, I'm sure that strong reaction will work to keep other dangerous criminals from finding their next victim.

Remember how New Yorkers put signs in their cars that read "no radio", to try to thwart thieves?  Maybe we regular folks ought to wear badges that say "We're Democrats. We're soft on crime", so these criminals will leave us alone.
