Cynically Speaking

Is it only me who is tired of this story of the homeless man with the radio voice? I wondered why he never reunited with his mother BEFORE being 'discovered' begging! Maybe it was more dramatic reuniting while the network cameras were rolling; is there a reality show in his future?
