Politically Incorrect Pledge

Here's some pretty depressing news: "The principal of a public school in Brookline, Mass., is asking parents to fill out permission slips before their children can participate in a weekly recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance." What is going on here? I see they are reciting the Pledge only weekly (VERY 'weakly'!) now; we used to say it every morning, with pride, and neither students, teachers, nor parents found it objectionable!
