“What The Hell Are We Paying You For?”
Wow! Here's an excerpt from a great column by Michael Goodwin:
"The words cut like a knife. “What the hell are we paying you for?” Gov. Chris Christie asked of President Obama.
The New Jersey Republican has a gift for getting to the heart of things, and his broadside against the president over the debt bomb is Exhibit A. His assertion, framed as a question, makes the case against Obama better than anything heard from the actual candidates.
On Monday, the GOP heavyweight called Obama “a bystander in the Oval Office” for ducking the congressional committee charged with finding $1.2 trillion in deficit reductions over 10 years.“I was angry this weekend, listening to the spin coming out of the administration about the failure of the super committee, and that the president knew it was doomed for failure, so he didn’t get involved,” Christie said. “Well, then, what the hell are we paying you for? ‘It’s doomed for failure so I’m not getting involved?’ Well, what have you been doing, exactly?”
The questions are rhetorical in that we know what the president has been doing and why. He plays golf and campaigns. Governing is beneath him.
He doesn’t talk much to members of Congress or his own Cabinet. They’re beneath him.
His connection to the public consists of speeches before large crowds, and he ducks behind the curtain and into the security bubble as soon as he finishes. The people are beneath him.
Warped by a sense of entitlement and self-aggrandizement, Obama refuses to take responsibility for finding practical solutions to problems. He prefers the glory of transformation rather than the roll-the-sleeves-up work of reform.
When he can’t get his way, he appoints a czar and ignores Congress. Democracy is beneath him.
He could have brokered a deficit deal, but doing so would have demolished his campaign slogan that Republicans are to blame for everything. Any deal would give him ownership of the results, and end the fiction that politics are beneath him.
In fact, he’s all politics, all the time. His idea of bipartisanship is that everybody agrees with him.
He’s so bad at the job that the frequent comparisons to Jimmy Carter are unfair to Carter. The former peanut farmer was a terrible president, but he was at least sincere in his starchy disdain for the country.
Obama professes to really, really like America. He just wants to change everything about it.
And when the country says no thanks, he goes off script and the smears come out. We’re “soft” and “lazy” and “bitter” and “cling” to God and guns.
But there are no hiding places in the Oval Office and, after three years, it’s clear who the problem is.The campaign of 2008 looked brilliant because campaigns showcase Obama’s one real talent — blaming someone else for blocking the way to Utopia.
On that basis, he got the job. But now we know the terrible truth: Actually being president is beneath him, too."(via Lucianne.com)

Here's a touching post about the creation of the State of Israel, 64 years ago today.
Frankly Speaking
As soon as I heard that Barney Frank wasn’t running for reelection, I wondered what Howie Carr would have to say! I wasn't disappointed -- he starts off his column this way: "Christmas in November! Our long national nightmare is over. No need for Santa Claus to bring me anything this year, because I got my present yesterday at Newton City Hall when Barney Frank threw in his hand."

I love Jewish World Review -- there's such good reading there! Among other things, read Jim Mullen's amusing column about how to survive Black Friday. (Cartoon by Gary Varvel)
Technological Pet Peeves
Arnold Ahlert asks some good questions in his column titled "Cyber Crack-heads".
"Since when did it become perfectly acceptable to check one's I-Phone every three or four minutes? When did it become OK to 'multi-task,' as in carry on a conversation with one person while texting someone else? When did it become OK to carry on a phone conversation in front of everyone else without making the slightest attempt to keep it private? When did it become OK to be subjected to the ongoing beeps, burps and belches of incoming message alerts from people's phones?"I feel the same way. It's really a shame when even the library is no longer an oasis of calm and quiet, thanks to the patrons who babble and type away there! And even at work you get to recognize the tones of each co-worker's phone as they receive text messages all day long. Somebody ought to come up with a list of technological etiquette -- but I doubt anyone would follow the rules.
Laurie McQueary
Here we go again. That Bernie Fine is despicable enough, but listening to his wife Laurie made my skin crawl. She knew, and she didn't do anything about it? She is the Mike McQueary of Syracuse.

"A National Embarassment"
To me, Obama is the Destroyer-in-Chief. Just look how everything has gone downhill in only three years: "For everyone calling on Obama to quit, it seems he has. The problem is he’s not vacating the office. Perhaps we should just change his title from 'President' to 'National Embarrassment.'" (Via Larwyn's Linx at Doug Ross @ Journal)

Black Friday, Black Hearts
The Christmas spirit continues: "UPDATE: Man Dies on Black Friday; Shoppers Unfazed. SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man collapsed while doing some Black Friday shopping in a crowded store, and people nearby continued to shop. Witnesses tell WSAZ.com some shoppers walked around and even over the man's body." After all, what's more important than that Xbox? (I hope at least they took pictures of the body to post on their Facebook page.)

What We Need In A Republican President
Read this article by R. Clayton Strang, in which he says the following:
"We don't need a new messiah. We don't need perfection. We need vision. We need substance. We need character. These traits are the building blocks of our Great Republic, and anyone wishing to be the Republican nominee for president must possess them in great quantities. We don't need another savior; we simply want a president."

XMAS XCESS
To Elizabeth Scalia at The Anchoress: No, you're not the only one who feels this way, but we are definitely in the minority! Thanks for putting it into words so well.
"I confess, I despise 'Black Friday' I hate the way consumers are urged to haul their Thanksgiving-exhausted selves out to stores — away from family members who have often traveled some distance to come together — so they can surrender their human dignity or assault the dignity of others in order to snag a ten-dollar sweater and a waffle-maker for $9.99.Being Jewish at Christmas is hard enough, but the nonstop stampede of greed and commercialism at the expense of religion makes me loathe this time of the year more every year. (Read about this maniac shopper, for example. For shame!) I'm always relieved when it's all over. You can't blame the stores -- they are only giving the public what they want, and what they want is to recklessly spend without being held to any personal accountability. Maybe Obama can come up with a bailout for Christmas shoppers.
And I hate the way consumers go along with it.
I hate the way the mad buying and bad behavior is attached to Christmas — the coming of the Christ was meant to set us free, and yet the over-commercialization of 'the Holidays' feeds our greed and tethers us to our possessions in a way that can only weigh us down, more firmly, to earthly concerns.
We are not released, only further encumbered.
And am I the only one who, each year, finds the Christmas commercials less ingratiating and more off-putting? “The season” has only just begun, but already I can’t stand the commercial where a son travels through snow to see his parents, only to find an empty house, because his Boomer parents — not interested in welcoming him — have sneaked out the back and taken his car for a spin? 'Click!' The channel changes every time that commercial comes on."
The Man In The Double-Breasted Suit
I love Greg Crosby's nostalgic articles, including this one on the need for the double-breasted suit:
"What this country needs now is a president who is a broad-chested man, in the truest sense. A president who can revive our sagging economy, get people back to work, stop inflation, win our wars abroad, and reopen factories and manufacturing plants here at home. We need a president who can keep our borders secure and our citizens safe.
We need a president who can bring America back as the beacon of creativity and the envy of all other nations, as we once were. We need a president who does not apologize for America, but honors her. We need a president who is optimistic about America's future and who understands traditional American values of hard work and ingenuity. In short, we need a president who isn't afraid to wear a double-breasted suit."
What the "Arab Spring" Really Is
Benjamin Netanyahu on the disastrous "Arab Spring":
"The prime minister, addressing the Israeli parliament, gave a strikingly pessimistic survey of the tumultuous events in the Arab world. 'In February, when millions of Egyptians thronged to the streets in Cairo, commentators and quite a few Israeli members of the opposition said that we're facing a new era of liberalism and progress,' said Mr Netanyahu. We've known it all along. (via Jewish World Daily)
Instead, the popular movement which toppled the autocratic leaders of Tunisia and Egypt had become an 'anti-Western, anti-liberal, anti-Israeli and anti-democratic wave,' he said."

What Your Country Can Do For You
Instapundit links to the embarrassing photo above, which he refers to as "The Entire Occupy Movement Summarized In One Sign". Unfortunately, the entitlement mentality hasn't changed much from last year, when I blogged this: "America has become, sadly, a nation of takers. For Shame!
Why must they reopen the case of Natalie Wood's tragic death after all these years, and cause more heartache? Sometimes a death really is just an accident. And waiting fifty years to accuse a Congressman of sexual abuse is truly a bit much. Other shameful things in the news include the continuing portrayal of the Occupiers as victims rather than anti-capitalists; and of course there's Obama, our shameful President, who dislikes his own country, dislikes Israel, dislikes business, and dislikes achievement and success -- and who will be re-elected despite it all. For shame!

Adding Insult to Atrocity
Here's an article about Holocaust syrvivors suing European insurance companies for unpaid life insurance policies. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen "cited cases where survivors
made claims on insurance policies belonging to relatives killed by the
Nazis, only to be told that their claim could not be honored without a
death certificate. 'Can you imagine
anything more outrageous than asking for a death certificate for someone
murdered in Auschwitz?' Ros-Lehtinen said."

Wasting Away Again in Obamaville
Check out Iowahawk for a great Occupiers/Obamaville version of "Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh" -- make sure you sing the lyrics! (via Larwyn's Linx). Instapundit describes the reasons that Zuccotti Park must be cleaned -- and fumigated, hopefully. My question is this: why don't they make the protesters themselves clean up their own trash in every city they've defiled? It's not as if they have anything better to do, like go to work! And, don't you think these protests would have been stopped much sooner if it had been the Tea Party doing the protesting? The longer this goes on, the more infuriated I get.

Yes, this ad campaign definitely makes me want to run out and buy Benetton. (However, the notion of Obama kissing his friend Chavez isn't that farfetched!)
Engineering Evil: Inside The Holocaust
Last night on The History Channel, I watched "Engineering Evil: Inside the Holocaust". No matter what you know or think you know about the Holocaust, I promise you will be even further appalled and outraged by the surgical precision with which the Nazis planned for every facet of the extermination of the Jews. The statistics alone are overwhelming in their scope. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. This program should be required viewing, especially for Holocaust deniers.

The Crimes at Penn State
This is a well-written column by Charles P. Pierce about the Penn State coverup: "If that blights Joe Paterno's declining years, that's too bad. If that takes a chunk out of the endowment, hold a damn bake sale. If that means that Penn State spends some time being known as the university where a child got raped, that's what happens when you're a university where a child got raped. Any sympathy for this institution went down the drain in the shower room in the Lasch Building. There's nothing that can happen to the university, or to the people sunk up to their eyeballs in this incredible moral quagmire, that's worse than what happened to the children who got raped at Penn State. Good Lord, people, get up off your knees and get over yourselves."

Morons of the Day
This idiot professor who thinks sending Care packages to our troops is "shameful"; and this creature of a judge who has freed Jerry Sandusky without bail. (If the Penn State students wanted to riot, NOW would be a good time.) Both of these excuses for human beings ought to be fired, the sooner the better!

Nostalgic Sounds
From Mental Floss, a list of sounds most kids today have never heard. What a great article! I know that whenever I watch an old movie and a telephone rings, or someone dials a rotary phone, it brings back memories! (via Fark)
The No-Jobs President
Blogger Brutally Honest has a post about how Obama is waiting until after the election to decide on the Keystone XL pipeline and its 20,000 jobs: "This President isn't interested in doing that which would increase employment in America. This is proof of that. Instead, he's interested in bowing to a particular constituency in the hopes that they'll help him get re-elected. Everything should be done to ensure that interest fails." I'll say it again - this administration has encouraged idleness and irresponsibility while discouraging success and hard work. He has made it too easy for healthy adults to choose welfare and endless unemployment to any jobs available. But in a perfect example of the pot calling the kettle black, there's this headline: "President Obama: U.S. Gotten a Bit 'Lazy' on Attracting Businesses".

Abortions on Sale!
More sick news about our society's collapse: "Free Wi-Fi, VIP Treatment, and a $50 Abortion Discount (Sundays Only). The culture of death is not static. Rather, it constantly permeates those who partake in it, and especially those who promote it. Because of this, the lucid observer can see a continual degradation of human value and a shameless promotion of death-for-hire by abortionists who openly practice in the light what past generations would have done only in the dark of night (if they did it at all). For example, in Florida, the Orlando Women’s Center (OWC) is currently offering a special $50 discount for abortions performed on Sundays. (Pay attention, folks, the price of killing our preborn children just got cheaper.) And in case the expecting mother would like to surf the Web before or shortly after her preborn child is killed, this same women’s center is 'pleased to announce that [it is] now offering Free Wi-Fi at [the] Orlando Women’s Center.' Ain’t that great? Now mothers who want to have their preborn children killed can do so without fear of missing out on the score of the big football game, their latest updates on Facebook, or the most up-to-date news coverage available from CNN.com." I also heard on the radio that Obama was referred to as "the most pro-abortion president in history." What a great honor!
A Tribute to Major Winters
Lee Habeeb pays tribute to Major Dick Winters, noting
"The Washington Post didn’t report his death until January 9, and relegated the story to the obituary pages, rather than featuring a lengthy celebration on page one — which is what Winters’s life demanded. Indeed, we heard very little from the media about this great man’s death, largely because so few in the media actually cared about his life.If Cher had died, we’d have heard endless stories within hours, with Diane Sawyer, Matt Lauer, Katie Couric, and Piers Morgan all fighting desperately to get the exclusive with Chaz. Our media is bad, but our schools are worse. Our kids are peddled Earth Day celebrations, and cancer-awareness, drug-awareness, even clean-colon-awareness days. They get sex instruction, diversity seminars, and global-warming tutorials from Al Gore, but Veterans Day, and the stories of men like Maj. Dick Winters — well, that’s just not stuff with which we should be pestering our kids."

Cult of Personality
All this -- over a football coach! I was appalled to see the rioting and protests on the news last night, and it made me feel embarrassed for my country.
More Obamabribery
According to Hot Air: "Today, the Federal Communications Commission announced that a handful of cable companies will offer discounted rates to low-income families — defined as those families that qualify for free school lunches. Families that qualify for free or reduced-price lunches will also be able to purchase low-cost computers. According to the president, 'securing America’s competitiveness in a global economy means making sure that every American has access to high-speed broadband Internet and is able to take advantage of it.'" Excuse me, but high-speed broadband internet is not a right! If you can't afford a computer, use the one at the library for free. And if they must offer discounted rates, how about offering them only to people who actually work all day, to give them an incentive to work?

Undiplomatic Posts
Michael Goodwin reports on this disgraceful episode: "‘I cannot bear Netanyahu. He’s a liar,” French President Nicolas Sarkozy told President Obama last week. Obama seemed to agree, saying,“You’re fed up with him, but I have to deal with him even more often than you.”" Unfortunately, the American people have to deal with Obama while he continues to be coddled by the media. Goodwin continues, "Welcome to the High School of Catty Leaders, where the barbs at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu count as first-rate global gossip -- and so much more. For one thing, the exchange, inadvertently heard by reporters at the G-20 summit, stayed secret for several days because the reporters agreed it should. How’s that for brave and independent journalism? Quislings with press passes is more like it."
"Mope and Blame"
I see that the Dow fell 389 points today -- how nice. But this can't be Obama's fault, since nothing ever is. Peter Bella of the Washington Times says the Obama Doctrine is "Mope and Blame". And to think we may have to endure 4 more years of this if the Republicans -- and the idiot voters -- don't wake up.

Yes We Cain
I thought Herman Cain comported himself extremely well tonight. But it doesn't even matter, since the media has already concluded that he is guilty. If his campaign attacks the women the way the Clintons went after the Bimbo Erupters, it will just backfire on him thanks to the Obamamedia. Here we are during the worst presidency and worst economy in my lifetime, and instead of focusing on defeating Obama and reclaiming our country in 2012, the news is all about Herman Cain. Once again, the Republicans are losing the best opportunity they've had in years, and I'm just beside myself.
Whatever Happened to Real Men?
I was thinking about the Penn State child abuse scandal and the fact there someone, ostensibly an adult male, had actually witnessed an assault on a boy in the showers. The fact that he didn't immediately run over and beat up Jerry Sandusky, rescue the child, and call the police is indicative not only of the emasculation of men in this country, but also of the scourge of political correctness that would prevent men from acting like men. It's truly sickening.

"A Cesspool of Anti-Zionism"
Jonathan Tobin writes about the antisemite Occupiers: "The outrage in Boston also ought to remind liberal Jews who might otherwise be inclined to sympathize with OWS that the far left in this country is a cesspool of anti-Zionism. Liberals who make common cause with OWS are making a deal with an anti-Semitic and radical devil."
Our Anti-Jobs Culture
I see they are now protesting in front of the White House .... against the oil pipeline. Why don't they protest the lack of jobs instead? Of course, they will undoubtedly find a sympathetic ear in the anti-business president. (And did you see the hundreds of people standing in front of the courthouse awaiting the verdict in the Murray trial? Doesn't anybody work?)

Penn State of Denial
I heard about this disgraceful child abuse scandal on ESPN Radio. There is something very wrong with our society when the reputation of a sports program is seen as somehow more important than the welfare of children. (Will the media report this with as much alacrity as they have with the Herman Cain accusations?)

Mad About Madoffs
I agree with the sentiments of the victims of Bernard Madoff -- the recent publicity, books, and interviews by the family members have really been outrageous. This family deserves no sympathy whatsoever. What next, a Madoff reality show?
Needling the Opposition
This is the second time I have used this graphic recently, but I am so sick and tired of these reckless, stupid, irresponsible, selfish people -- and I'm not even referring to the Occupiers! This is the anti-vaccination/pro-epidemic crowd, and they are no better than Typhoid Mary. If kids die, will these "parents" be made liable and seen as the public health menace they are?

"In the end, the only way to defeat those who delegitimize Israel and deny our rights to our land, our nationhood and history is to expose their corruption, and their malevolent, dishonest and hateful intentions towards the Jewish people and the Jewish state. That is, the only way to defeat the delegitimizers is to delegitimize them by proudly and consistently asserting Israel's historic and legal rights and the justice of our cause."

It's always interesting to hear about people's friendships. In this article,

Proof of Attack
Here's more proof that we were indeed attacked by 2 jets on September 11. Isn't it sad that even now, ten years later, we still feel compelled to prove to these Terrorist-Deniers what was obvious to everyone else? From the UK Telegraph:
"Those who believed that the September 11 attacks on America were not carried out by Al Qaeda terrorists pointed to the fall of World Trade Center Building 7 as proof of their wild claims. But I'm sure Rosie O'Donnell and the other experts will dismiss this.
But a newly released video appears to finally prove once and for all that Building 7 was brought down by the intense heat of the blazing World Trade Center - and not explosives, as conspiracy theorists claim."

The Class Warfare President
Here's an excerpt from a good column by David Limbaugh:
"How is he approaching the problems going forward? Instead of accepting accountability for his failures and reversing course, he has continued to blame his failures on George W. Bush, the Japanese tsunami, the GOP Congress and the wealthy. Instead of tightening his belt in light of the failure of his stimulus plan, he is demanding yet more mind-blowingly enormous stimulus spending.
The blame-Bush meme doesn't pass the laugh test anymore, and the tsunami excuse is embarrassing and pathetic. His effort to blame Republicans is similarly absurd on its face because he did get his agenda through, Obamacare and all, except for cap and trade, which he couldn't get passed even with his Democratic-controlled Congress.
So, how about his continued assault on the rich — his fail-safe scapegoating device, one that flies in the face of everything Obama has ever claimed about himself in terms of bipartisanship, unity, civility and fundamental honesty?
The rich are not under-taxed, as objective statistics and empirical data demonstrate. Not one of the problems plaguing the nation today has been or is being caused by the rich, and punishing them will make the economy and our debt problems worse.
Nevertheless, Obama is ramping up class warfare, trying to turn Americans against one another by stoking the flames of envy and greed. He's even encouraging civil unrest among the Occupy Wall Street protesters. Have we ever had any other president do such a thing?
Obama blames the rich for problems he's causing, despite the absence of causal relationship between the distribution of our national income and wealth and the economic and debt problems we face.
Why? Simply because that's what demagogic community-organizing, Marxist-leaning Alinsky disciples do — and it's disgraceful."
Kardashian Krisis
I'm sure you too are simply devastated by the dreadful news about Kim Kardashian's divorce. Thank goodness for writers like Andrea Peyser, who always call a spade a spade: "She’s a fame whore for hire who became fabulously wealthy not for her looks, brains, sex appeal or talent. But for the super-sized quality of her protruding butt."
