Technological Pet Peeves

Arnold Ahlert asks some good questions in his column titled "Cyber Crack-heads".
"Since when did it become perfectly acceptable to check one's I-Phone every three or four minutes? When did it become OK to 'multi-task,' as in carry on a conversation with one person while texting someone else? When did it become OK to carry on a phone conversation in front of everyone else without making the slightest attempt to keep it private? When did it become OK to be subjected to the ongoing beeps, burps and belches of incoming message alerts from people's phones?"
I feel the same way.  It's really a shame when even the library is no longer an oasis of calm and quiet, thanks to the patrons who babble and type away there! And even at work you get to recognize the tones of each co-worker's phone as they receive text messages all day long. Somebody ought to come up with a list of technological etiquette -- but I doubt anyone would follow the rules.
