Here's another reason why teachers deserve more money. (Via Obscure Store):

"Teen to sue school after teacher wakes him up in class. The 15-year-old boy says he suffered pain and "very severe injuries to his left eardrum" when teacher Melissa Nadeau abruptly slammed the palm of her hand on his desk to wake him up. 'He's a computer wizard who works late into the night, and that's probably why he fell asleep,' says the student's lawyer."

(He's lucky she didn't send him to the principal to get the rattan, which is what was used when I was in school!)
