"Emotional Distress"

Political correctness, frivolous lawsuits, and illegal immigration are all out of control in this country. The unbelievable verdict in the story of the rancher on whose land illegals encroached represents all three issues run completely amuck:

"...you will be glad to know that the jury ruled that Barnett did not violate the 'civil rights' of the illegal aliens. But .... the jury did award $78,000 in actual and punitive damages to six of the illegal aliens on claims of assault and emotional distress. Isn't that just wonderful? You defend your property and suddenly you're forking over big bucks because you caused some degree of emotional distress in the people you find trespassing."

This sort of insanity never ends!
