The speech police have struck again. Imagine the City Council in Berkeley adopting with a straight face a measure to remove gender-specific words from the city code - like manpower or manhole cover, which obviously still offend stupid people. Of the examples I heard today, my favorite was getting rid of "pregnant women" in favor of "pregnant employees" , which implies that even men get pregnant. What are they going to do, have language police arrest you for saying "him"?

And now, enjoy some terrific news roundups from Liz Sheld's Morning Briefing, Maggie's Farm, and Larwyn's Linx. (Will Liz be forced to change her last name? After all, both "he" and "she" are in it!)
