Yes, COVID Is Still Here & It Still Kills

Andrew Nikiforuk, contributing editor at The Tyee, has written another excellent article about COVID, "We Interrupt This Mood of Denial to Update COVID’s Threat."

He has summed it up in 1 sentence: the silence about COVID; the blasé attitude by the public; the absence of masks; the very low numbers of people getting the latest vaccine.

"Most governments seem intent on diminishing or hiding these realities. They avoid any talk about the effectiveness of masking in public places or the value of improved ventilation and filtration in schools and workplaces. It’s a demonstrated fact that the virus travels through the air in tiny smoke-like aerosols that can infect people at much greater distances than six feet, but the natural responses to this reality are not encouraged by our leaders."

Now we're heading into the holiday season with COVID, flu, RSV -- and apathy.

Those of us still being cautious are in the minority. One-way masking is not as effective as everyone masking. But I still wear a mask because  I'd much rather not catch the germs you are coughing in my face.
