November 22: A Tragic Day

On this day in 1963, President John F. Kennedy was tragically assassinated. I was 8 years old and vaguely remember watching the funeral on television.

I was 5. I was in the sandbox in the back yard with my Mom and a neighborhood kid, Rudy Schmucker, told us the news as he ran home from the bus stop.
It was the first of so many incidents of violence that I recall as a kid in the 60s -- RFK, Martin Luther King, Kent State.
