Crime Does Pay

Who decides which criminals become worthy of media hype? I just don't get the reason for the intense coverage of murderer Amanda Knox, for example. Is it because she's attractive? Same with baby-killer Casey Anthony. There are heinous murders and there are murder trials every day in this country, so what sets some apart?
