From Don Surber: "The Charleston Gazette has minted a new right: The right to play
basketball. In an editorial, "Working people losing ground?" Betty
Chilton and the Gazette editorial board has decided that there is a
right to play team sports in school in $100 basketball shoes. Taxpayers
would simply provide them to the poor... The Gazette editorial board insists free basketball shoes are 'an integral part of education.'
The Gazette said the same thing about food stamps.
And Title I teacher aides.
And a $21 million building for the Mary C. Snow West Side Elementary
School (which immediately ranked in the bottom five schools in West
Virginia.)
Silly me, I thought caring parents and hard work were 'an integral part of education.'"
Sadly, not any more. What we need is a taxpayer revolt and a refusal to allow our money to be stolen from us.
