"Prank" of the day

When I was a kid, the word "prank" meant something amusing and harmless, like ripping a piece of paper when someone sat down, so he'd think his pants had torn. Today the word "prank" has been watered down so much that it's used even when someone is harmed. Here's the latest example of it -- hilarious, isn't it?

UPDATED: 11:27 am EDT May 9, 2006
SKOWHEGAN, Maine -- A woman from New Portland is charged with helping her daughter and two other teenagers bake cookies laced with a laxative. The cookies baked with Ex-Lax were left on a teacher's desk on April 10.

Julie Hunt, 43, was arrested Friday after an investigation into the prank that sickened four seventh- and eighth-grade children at Carrabec Community School in Anson.
