A Real Croc
I had to laugh at this story, because I too think both Crocs and flipflops are the ugliest shoe styles ever. (When I was a kid, "flipflops" were made of rubber, worn only at the beach, and called "zories". You never wore them on the street) I believe this author is the same one who criticized VP Cheney for wearing an overcoat on a visit to Auschwitz and didn't like Condi Rice's boots.

Givhan's a political hack masquerading as a fashion writer. She might not have liked Condi's boots, but she seemed rather impressed with the look; if for crude reasons.
