TCM aired a marvelous documentary about Marlene Dietrich, whose bravery and patriotism in the midst of WW2 resulted in her being awarded the Medal of Freedom. She became an American citizen; visited the American troops ("her boys") on the front under extremely difficult & hazardous conditions; sold War Bonds; made radio speeches in support of the troops; worked at the Hollywood Canteen. In short, her unabashed love and tireless support for her adopted country and for "her boys" made her a figure to admire and respect.
Where are the Marlene Dietrichs of today?
