You Know Elvis is Immortal When..

... the Japanese Prime Minister imitates him and sings "Love Me Tender" during a visit to Graceland.

I doubt that any head of state will be singing Madonna's tunes 30 years from now.

Baby "Forgotten" in Hot Car -- Part 121

Well, here we go again, another mother "forgetting" her child, resulting in another terrible death in a hot car. And just as bad are the excuses and the sympathy, not for the baby but for the so-called mother. I love this one, from Free Republic, which is blaming the government!

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1657959/posts

I consider this to be more the fault of government mandating child car seats and that they be placed in the rear seats of the vehicle. It is very easy to forget a silent, sleeping child in the back seat of a car, especially when you are gearing up to face the stress of the coming work day.

Eliahu Asheri:Murdered by the Palestinians

A Google search of Eliahu Asheri doesn't even produce a news headline result. But, a search for Star Jones produces THREE results. This is yet another indication of what's deemed important and what's not important.

Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs gets right to the heart of the matter whe he sums up this way: "I’m sick to my soul of this politically correct attitude of coddling savagery."

As are many of us tonight.

----------------------------------

http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=21275_Yes_the_Palestinians_Are_to_Blame&only

Yes, the Palestinians Are to Blame

By the way, I’d like to make something clear. When I title a post, “Palestinians Claim Hostage Murdered,” I mean it exactly that way. It’s not a “group” of “militants,” “loosely linked” to Hamas. It’s the Palestinian people. If they want to be a state, that means taking responsibility for their elected government.

And the Palestinian populace voted overwhelmingly (as CAIR is fond of telling us) for the Hamas government, knowing full well its radical nature and genocidal intent. What’s happening today is a direct result of that election.

I’m sick to my soul of this politically correct attitude of coddling savagery.

If 18-year old Eliahu Asheri really has been murdered by his kidnappers, every single Palestinian who voted for a Hamas candidate bears some of the blame.

Northeast Flooding

I've been following the news of the heavy rains and flooding in the Northeast, because I have friends and family there and used to live there myself.
The contrast between the people affected by this disaster and those affected by Hurricane Katrina is very stark. The difference boils down to one word: character.
Unlike the people in New Orleans, the people in the eastern U.S. are neither attacking the government, demanding FEMA money, or looting and engaging in other thuggish behavior.

And because the people in PA and MA and MD and NY don't consider themselves to be victims, you will read little about them in the days to come.

Israel Attacks Gaza

It's about time. We are way too timid in dealing with Palestinian thuggery, and this is payback for their abduction of an IDF soldier.

Of course, the mainstream media will portray the Israelis as evil aggressors.

Asheville in the News!

Asheville is in the news today, locally, regionally, nationally, and even internationally. It's not because an Ashevillian won the Nobel Peace Prize, or because of heroics by Ashevillian soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.

No, it's because the idiot manager of the Asheville Tourists minor league baseball team threw a major-league-sized fit during a game on Sunday. Read the Asheville Citizen-Times description of this tantrum and see if you find the manager's actions amusing. I do not. Once again, Asheville is the laughingstock of the world. (Several years ago it was named Hippie Capital of America by Rolling Stone magazine)

http://www.citizen-times.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060627/NEWS01/60626072

What began as an argument over a pickoff play evolved into a lengthy and humorous tirade, complete with Mikulik diving into second base, plucking the base from the ground and throwing it after a nose-to-nose argument with base umpire Andy Russell resulted in his ejection from the game.

The tantrum also included Mikulik throwing a resin bag toward the bullpen, kicking dirt on the home-plate umpire, covering the plate with dirt, throwing bats from the dugout, pouring water on the plate, squatting behind the plate to show the umpire how to call a strike and angrily slamming a water bottle down.

Once in the clubhouse, Mikulik reportedly pushed water coolers, a chair and a batting practice screen in front of the umpires’ locker room.

The Wrong Churchill

The University of Colorado is showing spine in firing the moonbat professor Ward Churchill. If you recall, he compared 9/11 victims to Nazis. You can be sure he won't be unemployed for long; he can always join the America-bashing tour with Cindy Sheehan, George Soros, Scott Ritter, and George Galloway!

Thoughts of Leon Klinghoffer

Today I was thinking about Leon Klinghoffer, while reading about the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attack on the Khobar Towers and resulting murders of our troops there.

The first time that terrorism became real for me was the 1985 hijacking of the Achille Lauro by Palestinian terrorists. Leon Klinghoffer and his wife were aboard, celebrating their anniversary. The terrorists killed this wheelchair-bound man, and then threw both Mr. Klinghoffer and his wheelchair overboard.

The horrendous nature of the crime, the total disregard for human life, has repeated itself over and over again in the 21 years since Leon Klinghoffer's murder.

We must crack down on anyone -- the New York Times, American sympathizers and apologists -- who makes it easier for terrorists to murder innocent civilians and soldiers.

Terrorists will never be rehabilitated. The answer is simple. We have to kill them before they kill us.

What Will They Think Of Next?

What a great headline! Yes, it's that time of year again, when parents "forget" that their kids are in the hot car, and when others make excuses for their deaths. There ARE no excuses for this.

CHILDREN'S DEATHS IN HOT CARS PREVENTABLE

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — It's a scenario that's tragically repeated dozens of times a year: a parent places a toddler in the back seat of a vehicle and later becomes distracted, leaving the child inside to swelter on a hot day.

Authorities in Payne County in north-central Oklahoma say that's what happened Sunday, when temperatures soared into the 90s and the father of 21-month-old Banyan Blaze Roberts forgot to take the sleeping boy out of a vehicle after returning from a family outing.

Mainstream Madness

Here's the difference in the way the media reports the news.

In today's Asheville Citizen-Times newspaper, the headline is "Heat on at Community Colleges", about audit discrepancies. The news about the arrest of the 7 terrorists is a smaller item below the fold.

In the Charlotte Observer, the main headline stretches across the width of the newspaper and fairly shouts, "Terrorist suspects 'homegrown'", along with their photographs.

That's yet another reason why I don't read the Citizen-Times.

TRAITORS!

The New York Times reporters should be arrested for treason and made an example of. I'm sure there must be laws against revealing information that only helps the terrorists. Their excuse is that releasing the story about how we track terrorists through bank transactions is "in the public interest". I say it's only in the terrorists' interest! Now that they know how we track them, they will use other methods. Why is the Times making it easier for terrorists to kill us?

Also, 7 Black Muslims were arrested for planning to wage war against America and planning to attack the Sears Tower in Chicago. A worker in the Sears Tower shrugged it off and said "I have to make a living". The lack of outrage on this story is probably due to the scourge of political correctness. The plotters are black AND Muslim, so that's doubly politically correct! I predict that ACLU lawyers will represent them in court.

Michelle Malkin (http://michellemalkin.com/) once again hits the nail on the head, this time by showing the posters from World War 2: "Loose lips sink ships", and "The enemy is listening". The enemy is still listening --- and reading.

Weapons of Mass Distraction

Now that weapons of mass destruction have been found in Iraq, how much you want to bet that stories about Abu Ghraib and Gitmo will be in the news more than ever?

Librarians Against Laura

Not merely content to attack her husband, some people are now attacking Laura Bush as well. This is really uncalled for; the President is fair game, but Mrs. Bush wasn't elected and doesn't make policy.

http://www.townhall.com/opinion/columns/michellemalkin/2006/06/21/202051.html

Finally!

From Michelle Malkin's website today
http://michellemalkin.com/

Congressman Mark Kennedy's floor statement this afternoon:

"Mr. Speaker, where is the outrage? We hear stories today of two of our soldiers having suffered unspeakable torture, and left in a nearly-unrecognizable condition. Yet where are the cries of outrage against this brutality?

Instead, we hear today of the EU leadership focused on closing Gitmo, and members of this body rushing to judgment on national TV before the facts are known about what our troops in the field have done.

Yes, we should hold our troops to the highest ethical standards, but we must be outraged by acts against our troops.

Our troops deserve our full support, and we must recognize the intensity of evil that we face, the lengths they will go to harm America and undermine our values, and the need to make sure we win this War on Terror to keep our families safe at home."

Where's Judge Judy When You Need Her?

First there was the story of that idiot judge who gave a child molestor 10 years probation instead of well-deserved jail time ... because he was TOO SHORT TO SURVIVE PRISON. (http://www.cnn.com/2006/LAW/05/26/judge.flap.ap/index.html)

Now, another idiot judge has freed a criminal who raped a child when she was 9 years old -- to punish the prosecutor for being late to court!
(http://www.northcountrygazette.org/articles/062006RapeCase.html)

Either it's extremely easy to become a judge -- or it's extremely hard to get rid of idiot judges -- but this country definitely needs a Judge Judy!

Marlene Dietrich: Hero

TCM aired a marvelous documentary about Marlene Dietrich, whose bravery and patriotism in the midst of WW2 resulted in her being awarded the Medal of Freedom. She became an American citizen; visited the American troops ("her boys") on the front under extremely difficult & hazardous conditions; sold War Bonds; made radio speeches in support of the troops; worked at the Hollywood Canteen. In short, her unabashed love and tireless support for her adopted country and for "her boys" made her a figure to admire and respect.

Where are the Marlene Dietrichs of today?

Just Plane Crazy

My pal Diane just sent this to me. Does anyone besides the two of us see the irony here?

Just Wondering

Will the brutal murders of our missing soldiers merit the cover of Newsweek, like the Haditha story?

Why is it that the American press finds the killings of Iraqis more terrible than the killings of Americans?

Poor Phil Mickelson! You would have thought he had been robbing money from little old ladies, the way the press has been jumping all over his loss at the U.S. Open. I'm sure he has accepted full responsibility for his collapse with more grace than the reporters who have covered him.

" A War That Isn't"

That's the title of a great op-ed piece by Diana West in the Washington Times about how the scourge of political correctness has even determined the way we fight the war on terror.

This sums it up best:

"Drop 500-pound bombs on his head if we must — and we must — but don't describe him as an Islamic jihadist in the age-old tradition of Islamic jihadists going back to Muhammad. Such historical precision might be hurtful and insensitive, and we wouldn't want that."

That's right -- it's all about feelings! Read the rest here:

The Dixie Jerks

Michelle Malkin reports that the Dixie Chicks can't understand the idea of patriotism. The always delightful Natalie Maines actually said, "The entire country may disagree with me, but I don't understand the necessity for patriotism," and "I don't see why people care about patriotism."

Well, the entire country DOES disagree with her! Either their popularity is declining and they are saying ever more outrageous things to get extra publicity for themselves; or they actually believe what they're saying. If so, they have seriously underestimated the patriotism of the American people. And they will be seriously disappointed, because their idiocy can only result in outrage and MORE patriotism!

Let's congratulate the Dixie Chicks -- their latest rant has enshrined them in the Moonbats Hall of Shame.

Democrat death toll

What's with the Democrats and their new tactic of counting the American soldiers killed in Iraq? Yes, 2,500 Americans have died in these 3 years. And yes, it's a tragedy for the families. But that's what war is -- people die. During World War 2, in the Battle of Iwo Jima ALONE, over 7,000 Americans were killed. Did the news media tell FDR to bring the troops home?

If we cave in now, we may as well concede the Middle East to the terrorists.

The Pot Calling the Kettle Black

Congressman William Jefferson, the representative who still hasn't explained why he had $90,000 in his freezer, is now angry that Democrats want him off the Ways & Means Committee. To have a criminal making decisions about spending should be an outrage to taxpayers. And the fact that he's still a member of Congress should be an outrage to voters. This story keeps getting better and better -- stay tuned.

An Amazing Prediction

I heard something earlier that probably won't make headlines or become the top story today. An Iraqi official said it was the end of Al Qaeda in his country. Just the fact that an Iraqi would make such a prediction publicly proves that our presence in Iraq is working. The fact that Al Qaeda is even IN Iraq demonstrates once again how widespread their terror network is, how they do not hesitate to kill other Muslims,how desperate they are to interfere with democracy, and why we must fight them on their own turf.

Awful Names for Children

http://teachersparadise.blogspot.com/2006/06/stupid-kid-names.html

The above website has a list of bizarre names of students that teachers have had in their classrooms. My teacher friend Ann once had a student named "Deceased"! The idiot mother heard the word used in the hospital and thought it "sounded pretty".

Who is going to take seriously anyone with these contrived names? When they become adults, a job candidate named Sarah is certainly going to be considered more highly than a candidate named Deceased, that's for sure. What on earth are their parents thinking when they name their kids Day'quandray and Cincere? Names like these will be misspelled and mispronounced their entire lives.

(At least we can spell and pronounce Moon Unit!)

How Your Money is Spent

Before you think about giving money to future victims of natural disasters, think first about how your hard-earned money might be spent. The "victims" of Hurricane Katrina not only used emergency debit cards to buy Louis Vuitton handbags; but now we learn that they bought such necessary staples as a sex-change operation; and "Girls Gone Wild" videos. No mention of their buying food for their kids. Oh, forgive me. I guess that's OUR responsibility!

Democratic Dismay

It's hilarious how the Democrats aren't even bothering to hide their dismay over the failure to indict Karl Rove. What a week -- the killing of Zarqawi (his is another name I have to cut and paste from another source!); Bush's trip to Iraq; and now this. How disappointing!

Charles Schumer's reaction was almost a parody. He said something to the effect that although Rove was cleared, somebody somewhere must know something, or must have done something, and they will continue investigating until they can indict SOMEBODY!

Go Hang!

Why is there more outrage over the suicides of Muslim prisoners at Guantanamo Bay than there has ever been over the decapitations of Nick Berg and Daniel Pearl? WE didn't kill those prisoners -- they killed themselves. They have no regard for human life whatsoever, and I say good riddance.

On the Lighter Side - what to do when an Alligator Knocks on Your Door

SUN CITY HILTON HEAD -- Use the peephole. You never know who -- or what -- will knock on your front door.

Photo: A 6-foot-long alligator climbs within inches of the doorbell after knocking into the front door of Roslyn and Robert Loretta's home on Penny Creek Drive in Sun City Hilton Head on Friday night. The reptile apparently was enticed into the couple's yard by the smell of teriyaki chicken.
Richard Holinski/Special to the Packet

For the Lorettas, it was a big "what" that came a knockin' at their Sun City Hilton Head home Friday night.

A 6-foot-long alligator pounded on the front door of their Penny Creek Drive home at around 7:45 p.m. and started scaling the wall at the entryway -- its front left claw inches from the doorbell.

"It looked like he was going to ring the doorbell," said Roslyn Loretta, describing the scene from her viewpoint behind the door. "This alligator was aggressive. It really left me a little shaken afterward."

Loretta blames teriyaki chicken for the unexpected visit.

Obliviots

One of my favorite words tp describe obnoxious, self-absorbed people is "oblivions", invented by Mike Straka of Fox News. But to me, a better word would be "obliviots", a cross between oblivious and idiots.

At the library this week, where large signs proclaim what shouldn't need to be said (namely, "Take your cell phones outside"; I prefer the good old-fashioned SHHHH!), the librarian tapped the shoulder of a cell phone babbler and told her to go outside. The babbler didn't move. Again the librarian spoke to her;again, she was too busy talking to stop. I have less patience as a patron, so I said, "Do you
MIND!? This is a library!" It made me feel better but still didn't work -- the librarian practically had to physically move her toward the door.

Here is Mike Straka's list of other things that make you an oblivion or an obliviot -- or just an inconsiderate oaf.

Poor Zarqawi

The bleeding heart newspapers and commentators, rather than rejoice that American troops succeeded in killing a madman who has executed innocents, has decried the fact that Zarqaqi may have been alive for a few moments after the bombing.

Now what, a second-by-second account of what he must have been thinking and feeling as he lay dying?

Tsk, tsk. All I know is, he didn't suffer as his victims suffered.

Best Zarqawi Headline & Opening Sentence of the Day

That warm, fuzzy feeling when a murderous thug is blown to hell
By Jules Crittenden
Thursday, June 8, 2006 - Updated: 09:45 PM EST

A murderous bastard is dead. Who better than the Iraqis to celebrate this.

"CONGRATULATIONS TO IRAQ. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WHOLE WORLD ON THIS VICTORY," wrote Iraqi blogger Omar at www.iraqthemodel.blogspot.com on news of the death of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. And who better than the GIs. "This is the best news we have had in months!" wrote Iraq-based milblogger Flythemig29 at thosewackyiraqis.blogspot.com.

~~~~~~~~
Isn't it refreshing to read straightforward wording that's untainted and watered down by wishy-washy, nonjudgmental, political correctness?
Read the whole editorial here: http://news.bostonherald.com/editorial/view.bg?articleid=142738
Triumph over Evil
The President is announcing that U.S. forces have succeeded in killing the brutal Al Qaeda leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.
The blogger Iraq the Model (http://iraqthemodel.blogspot.com/) is very relieved today, as I'm sure all decent Iraqis are.
Americans should be proud of this good news, and of our troops, today.
"Treat Me Like I'm Black" -- Patrick Kennedy
I'm SO glad that Patrick Kennedy is a Democrat!
Shameless
Last night, Larry King's guests were those lovebirds, the teacher-child molester Mary Kay Letourneau, and her now-husband, the former 13 year old student she had 2 illegitimate children with. As soon as I saw who it was, I turned the TV off in disgust.
I don't know who is more shameless, Larry King or that charming couple. Do you think that they'd be fawned over on TV if it were a male teacher and a much-younger female student?
"You Don't Need Papers to Vote"
Why am I surprised that the mainstream media isn't jumping all over this story? When I did a Google search for Francine Busby, there was only 1 link to this scandal, which is below. Even though her statement was taped, she is using the "mistakes were made" and "I just misspoke" defense. Imagine if it had been Republicans instead of Democrats who: were caught with $90,000 in the freezer (William Jefferson); claimed that classified documents leaped unbidden into his pants and socks (Sandy Berger); and encouraged illegal voting!
http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/politics/50thdistrict/20060603-9999-1mi3busby.html
If an election can turn on a sentence, this could be the one: “You don't need papers for voting.” On Thursday night, Francine Busby, the Democratic candidate for the 50th Congressional District, was speaking before a largely Latino crowd in Escondido when she uttered those words. She said yesterday she simply misspoke. But someone taped it and a recording began circulating yesterday. After she made that statement at the meeting, Busby immediately said: “You don't need to be a registered voter to help (the campaign).”
Politically Correct Terrorists
It looks like Canada is as PC as we are. The Toronto Star is using words like "youths", "residents", and "suspects" rather than refer to the terror plotters as Muslims. Would they still have referred to them as "residents" had they succeeded in blowing up Toronto?
My Letter to the UK Times about Haditha
Gentlemen:
Today it's hard to remember that during World War II, Britain was actually an ally of the United States. Now, as we fight the war on terror, our former ally is instead aiding and abetting the enemy by publishing lies, to make it seem that American Marines deliberately killed innocent Iraqis.
Your paper should print an immediate retraction to try to undo some of the irreparable damage that's been done. If our soldiers are attacked in retaliation, we'll all know who's to blame.
Sincerely,
Lowlifishness
I have been using the made-up word "lowlifishness" to describe the mentality and the act of being a lowlife. Lowlives are criminals; child molestors; terrorists; child abusers; anyone who appears on Jerry Springer-type shows; teachers who have affairs with students; single women who keep having children & don't know or care who the fathers are; people who make excuses for the most heinous behavior; etc., etc.
My pal Diane sent me a perfect example of lowlifishness:
http://www.cnn.com/2006/LAW/06/02/grandparents.hit.ap/
Cops: Couple ordered hit on grandkids; Wanted to stop testimony at son's rape trial, police say.
TAVARES, Florida (AP) -- A couple tried to hire a hit man to kill their three grandchildren and daughter-in-law to stop them from testifying against their son in his rape trial, authorities said. The couple, ages 60 and 59, were charged with four counts each of criminal conspiracy to commit murder. They were being held without bond. Police said the pair initially offered $100 to an undercover sheriff's deputy to kill their son's wife, their 10-year-old granddaughter, two step-grandchildren, ages 14 and 16, and the family dog.
Entitlement of the Day
Besides the astounding news that Homeland Security is reducing funds to New York City and Washington, DC (let's give the terrorists every detail, to make it easier for them to attack us again), there is this news from Denmark. FREE artificial insemination. F-R-E-E. Let's hope such a law isn't enacted here. I don't know how other hardworking American taxpayers feel, but I am sick and tired of supporting irresponsible people and raising their children for them!
Mistakes Were Made
In the "mistakes were made" department, the comptroller of New York, speaking at a college commencement, extolled the virtues of NY Senator Charles Schumer by saying that he is such a tough legislator, he could even put a bullet between the eyes of President Bush!
Gee, that really makes me want to re-elect Schumer!
The comptroller's lame excuses and too-late apologies just make matters worse.
