"Yad Vashem announced today the gas chambers at the Sobibor death camp
were uncovered after an eight-year extensive archaeological expedition.
An estimated 250,000 Jews were murdered between April 1942 and October
1943 at the extermination camp in eastern Poland.
The discovery 71 years after the horror of Sobibor is "a very
important finding in Holocaust research," said Yad Vashem scholar Dr.
David Silberklang, in a story in the Times of Israel.
'It is important to understand that there were no survivors from
among the Jews who worked in the area of the gas chambers. Therefore,
these findings are all that is left of those murdered there, and they
open a window onto the day-to-day suffering of these people,' he said."
It's a horror that never ends.
